So SE, since you spent time on the other race genders, can you please make housing accessible to all of us now.
they would have to free up all the houses and wards being held hostage by 1 person for that happen
then again they kinda proved they have no intention of doing that when they let people get away with their massive holdings and only applied the rules to effect after it was added
perhaps not sotaris but it would help i've seen several wards on my server owned by the same tag
For all we know, we all get a private instanced house on our retirement farm island.
Everybody who dosen't want a house to show off in a neighborhood moves to the house on the farm island wth WAY more space and options....
Those who DO want to show off, continue to fight in the housing distrcts.
it's most likely wishful thinking i doubt the farm will have any instance housing they already said before that the servers can't handle the mass instance that that mass housing would involve
granted i'm not personally involved in the housing war i own a large after many years of saving
Housing is accessible to everyone now. Apartments and FC rooms are housing. You could go buy one right now, no placard camping and no rng timer. Each NA server only has enough ward houses for roughly 40% of its player base, but the limits for apartments are 4 times higher and each FC can have something like 500 extra rooms. Also, the team members who would be responsible for making male vierra work in game arent the same ones who would be working on a housing fix.
I was surprised Yoshi came out and said he wanted to try to do something better with housing against the bots and RMTs. Instead of general handwave everything is fine we will do better. Hopefully they can do something against bots and RMTs without hurting real players, but damned if I know what that could be. Except adding capabilities to apartments.
If I could have a large house + yard on my own personal island, I would immediately move out of my medium in a neighbourhood and free up that spot for someone who loves the neighborhoods.
If private islance could be housing too that would be nice. Never mind if there is no neighborood and if it could be evolutive, that would be fantastic.
The housing is there. a lot of the issues are caused by the playerbase and the fact everyone wants to be on balmung or whatever. there's servers around that have literally hundreds of vacant plots. a housing thread came up some time ago and someone put a video up of them runningaround various wards on there servers and they were literal ghost towns...
and even on some of the more popular servers. Sarg? theres plenty of accomodation available. my apartment complex has 11 tenants so there's a good 79 appartments available there.. and I havent even gone around checking every other ward and sub dividsion. but the accomodation is there and available.
All they need to do is tack on an allotment of some form and a workshop facility and you've solved a lot of the problems.Fixing tenancy so players could actually share accomondation properly would be a nice bonus.
Just putting it out there, but I highly doubt that the art and character modelling teams that worked on male viera have anything at all to do with the developers that would work on restructuring the housing system.
Wonder what would happen if they multiplied the price of houses by around ten. If they're not as affordable, people won't feel pressure to house camp!
In all seriousness, system isn't perfect but my player house which I had a very hard time getting is one of the few things in the game I feel has a sense of value.
I am seriously hoping they do something with the instanced islands. I don't want neighbors or neighborhoods. I want my own instanced private plot of land on which to build anything and everything my twisted little black heart desires. Basically, I want Wildstar-level freedom of creativity housing in FFXIV.
I would vote for that if the plot and house wouldn't have a demolished timer that gets rids of everything once you didnt visit it for more than a month. I would have no issue with paying 50 or even 100m for a small plot if i had the guarantee that i will keep it forever like its usual in nearly every other mmo with housing.
Housing is more of a server limitation problem where as filling in the missing genders on viera/hrothgar is an artist/animator time constraint problem. While I hope one day to see either enough wards added that housing isn't a problem or instanced housing for all, they're not problems that have the same cause or solution.
I don't mind the leasing aspect itself. But I do hate the fact it's basically tied to your subscription.. Which goes agains Yoshi P's original promise which is pretty famous hell a few people still have the quote in there forum sigs.
However if they did add a lease system where you can just buy "housing ventures" (for want of a better term) with GC seals or something and trade them in for a weeks plot lease or whatever I'd be totally cool with that. As you could just trade in like 6 months worth of ventures befroe you drop your sub and take a break and be golden when you come back.
But the current demo thing does suck because it goes against another of Yoshi P's famous quotes. That it's ok to take a break and unsubscribe for a while, Everything will still be here for you when you come back....
Everything except my house.....
Well i never saw these statements' but than again i don't care that much about news or live shows. But yea its pretty obvious and honestly still the main reason why i keep the sub even if i don't play the game that much sometimes. Being able to take a break without the knowing that you lose your property and half of your stuff you worked for would indeed be nice. Or just focusing on an alt without feeling the need to log in with your main every few days.
To be clear it's the ward instances that cause the server strain, because the servers are running all of them nonstop whether players are there or not. For this reason they can't automatically add more wards based on demand without deterioration of server performance. They have to plan and carefully add wards with server resources in mind.
The housing interiors are inactive until a player enters. A huge amount of them are possible, as you see already with FC rooms and apartment blocks. Seemingly most people are dissatisfied with what those provide. The new Island Sanctuary thing is not housing, but maybe it will allow people without plots to crossbreed crops.
Could do a rent escrow system like EQ2. You can dump platinum in an account that the rent will auto draw from until it's empty. Even then, that game locks you out of your house til rents paid, not auto demolish.
It certainly isn't the solution, but it would be a welcome measure in the meantime that should theoretically be easier to implement. Still rng but it lets people just put in their gil and wait to see what happens (and get refunded if they don't get it) rather than having people camping plots for hours. Not perfect but far better IMO than the current situation.
Here ya go

Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
was bored waiting for my diamond party to fill
200 million. did you paya flipper or something? I seem to recall larges being much cheaper than that. i snagged one for myself as soon as shirogane first opened up ad 50-60 mill seems about right from what i recall but ended up selling it and getting a medium as i just prefer the interior layout much easier to do what i wanted with.
There were 72 larges available at normal prices on every world when the new wards were added back in October. First come, first serve and didn't need to relocate because there was no purchase moratorium.
And of course they were gone within 5 minutes of maintenance ending. But if you can patient and wait for new ward additions, you don't have to pay a premium to the flippers that are aggravating the housing problem.
Obviously paid a flipper if they spent 200 million.
Right, well for those of us without bots or top of the line PCs, just telling us to wait for a 1% chance or less to get a large during the blue moon they put in new ones in doesn't stop people from buying from flippers during the rest of the time. XD It doesn't stop people from wanting larges and sellers know that. I couldn't even get a medium at plot price during the last housing demo because they were all gone just as quick, only to be sold at 5x the price later that day.
So again, I would like to know who recently has been able to pay plot price for a large. Not talking about when Shiro launched, not talking about October. I'm talking about current landscape of 2021.
I understand all too well the need for a mansion on top of a hill. The day Shiro first opened i tried to get one of the premium larges in the new zone. The game crashed while i was loading, and the extra couple minutes it took to get online cost me my dream plot. I know this, because the last one in the last ward on my server sold while i was physically running up to it. But i was quick enough to pivot, and got the hill-top mansion in an empty goblet ward(mine was the first house purchased in said ward). I only moved out of said house back in october when the new wards went in. But i also see people putting un-necessary stress on themselves trying to get houses when some of them wont use any of the house features other then what an apartment can provide for 1/10th the price and 1/1000000th the hassle.
You can often improve your chances if you just pick a different ward..
You can all but guarantee when they open ishguard every man and his dog is going to be rushing straight into the first ward or the last. It happens every single time. So all you need to do is just say OK I'm going straight to ward 4 or 9 or any number in the middle. And you'll at least have a better chance of getting something
While I can appreciate the thought of paying for a lease period in ventures, this still does not address the fact you are occupying for something, as you gave the example, of 6 months, for something you have no intention of using. Just no. They've designed this awful system and only having access to what you pay for, month to month with a subscription, is fair.
I'd like to see increased item slots for houses and apartments
100 items isn't enough for an apartment and 200 item limit isn't enough for a small house
If the item limits were increased for apartments, I feel there'd be more of a demand for apartments & it not feel so much like a sad pat on the back
I'd rather have instanced housing similar to BDO or ESO- A shared house with different instances & people on your friendslist take priority so you see their instance 1st unless you pick another
I know that won't happen but that's how it should have been for starters
The design team in charge of housing could move forward with instanced housing to some degree though- Wildstar gave players their own island that you were allowed to transform into anything from a city to a tundra- hopefully we could see something like that in the future!
