duty finder suggestion

can we get a full out random roulette option, so we can que for and do anything from leveling to end game content with checking one box, incl the onetime bonus, adventurer in need, etc. just so we mix it up rather than feel like we're just limited to the one we queued for? than as we progress further in game, it draws from a bigger pool of the roulette?

That sounds like a special kind of hell. I don't know what kind of bonuses they could give it to incentivise players to run that...

yes, but not with the mount unlock either, that mentor roulette gets. maybe something else like a single seat mount for doing so many of these?

I look forward to everyone loading in, and then someone immediately leaving as soon as we see it's some old EX they don't remember, and for the party to disintegrate in their wake.

As neat as a larger roulette sounds, I don't see an "anything goes" roulette being actually fun. Especially since 9/10 times I expect it'll still somehow give me Toto Rak.

that's where personal choice comes in too though, right? i like the idea of it being from starting to endgame, as it is, each roulette checks to make sure you meet the requirements before throwing you in to a dungeon, right?

The mentor roullette is basically what you ask for. name asie. what that roulette does is basically just put you in the queue for every other roulette and see which one dings first..

Mentor Roulette is literally this. It can pull from anything in the game other than Coil, Savages, and current expansion EXs.

Endgame content and former-endgame content should absolutely not be in a non-mentor roulette. The extremes and savages have unignorable mechanics with non-optional choreography to handle them, and the tightness of the choreography will probably only get tighter with the coming stat squish that will flatten the power curve between min and max iLv.

Extremes are in DR:Mentor, and the most responsible thing a mentor can do when they get an extreme trial in DR:Mentor is to say "This is an extreme trial, which means it has unignorable mechanics and non-optional choreography to handle those mechanics. You should use /partyfinder to gather people for this content, even if (especially if) you want to do it syncked so that you can be sure everyone is aware of the required choreography."

Putting extremes in more roulettes, and putting savages in a roulette at all, is asking for a bad time. Especially if the roulette would be open to non-mentors.

Yeah I know right.. we can't even get mentors to try an clear the EX trails they get into with the roulette they signed up for.. there's no way they'd do savage...

And I'm the one in a chicken suit atm.. lol!

But all seriousness mentors should at least give the EXs a try with thr group.. they wanted to do it that way and the least the mentor can do is try for a few pulls and if it ain't working eat the timer and not sandbag or beg to be kicked..

I'm not a combat mentor but I've stuck around in these Exs like thordin titan ifirit and more with mentors afking to be kicked while we actually clear the fight after just a few wipes..

They still need to explain what extreme trials entail and encourage people to use /partyfinder for them.

Why does this matter?
So long as YOU are a mentor you have access to the mentor roulette.
Why should it matter if your team mates raw qued for Bowl of Embers or if they got it through a roulette?

ok, thinking about that, you're right. remove any endgame from roulette (Ex, Sav amd Ult) keep em for static and PF. but all the rest, 1 click check, to get a true random roulette, even if it's no bonuses, comes in unlocked after dailies are done. as to mentors, that's a whole other can of worms i just won't....

A "Put me in anything that isn't extreme, savage, or ultimate, that I meet the character level and IL for" roulette would be fine. Obviously DR:Mentor covers this for Lv80, but no such roulette exists for any other level, or for anyone who isn't a combat mentor.

and this is what i'm hoping for, only so many times you can run just alliance, or trial or dungeon, etc. why not have an option come available for what i'm asking for. no bonus, no achieves, just random "i'm eligible, give it to me" roulette

I do think this is important for such a roulette. If there are no rewards, there's no incentive to IL scum for lower level duties or faster duties, so people will run it because they do just want to play any content the roulette wants to throw at them. But at the same time, fewer people might use the roulette, so they'd have to weigh the dev cost vs player interest of such a feature.

So basically a "queue for all roulettes" option?

I can see the value of that for people who wants to do all their roulettes on one job. For me though, I would likely never use it, because I always feed MSQ+Leveling+Trial+Normal Raid Roulette to my lower level jobs, as well as adjusting what I queue so that my Challenge Log item EXP goes to my non-capped jobs.

Problems is, with no incentives to run it there is no incentive to run it. Mentor roulette has this same issue. The rewards are so absurdly low that even the people who do have it unlocked rarely use it. Why risk getting something long and annoying for a measly 10 tomes?

Personally I think a better option (for Mentor roulette as well) would be to make the rewards dynamic depending on the content. Get LotA, alliance roulette rewards. Get Ravana, trial roulette rewards. Get Doma Castle, leveling roulette rewards, etc.

what incentives would help, and not turning it into a mentoring roulette, just one that gives more variety than the current setup
