I would post there to keep this topic contained to one thread. Others have mentioned epilepsy in that thread as well as other things. There's a "better" chance of being heard if there's not a bunch of threads talking about the same thing.
Part of it is people's own responsibility. Plenty of people never look at any threads before posting their own, including welcome or rule threads. They conclude 'I have issue, I make thread raising issue' and are then told there's an ongoing thread about the issue that has already gained some traction. Look at all the 'Viera hair' threads.
I don’t think you know what malfeasance means.
More often than not, I truly believe that they don't see certain things until it goes live and the entire player base sees it. Their lack of foresight is something I have criticized them for on more than one occasion. This was another one of those things, though with potentially bigger real world implications.
I've played the raid a dozen times and I don't have any idea what would even be problematic about it. There are flickering lights? When?
I would strongly advise you and your 'community' to create a Discord server to meet on, that way you won't have to deal with this absolutely horrible (according to you) platform anymore. Seeing as you apparently already view FFXIV as little more than a AOL IM or MSN/WLM equivalent. Also, if FFXIV is naught but an IM service to you.. why on earth would you even touch alliance raids? You realize you can sit in a house in the Lavender Beds and chat, right?
Anyhows, enough snark from me. I am legit surprised at how much you seem to hate this lovely little MMO and while there's definite points of criticism, I do not at all think the FFXIV development team is 'absolute worthlessness'.
I'm sure the marketing team is happy to get the sub/s. Kind of a shame to pay one if you don't enjoy the game but to each their own. And relative to the OP hopefully the development team will address the issue if it's truly giving people problems.
I mean at best they can just put a warning like all other games... they can’t change the whole game do cater to one group of people. And it’s Nier theme so you kinda know what you’re stepping in if you know the series at all. So like I said if it’s triggering then know the limits and what not to play in the huge list of other stuff that’s totally ok to play.
they could add a mode or setting to help it honestly, tbh the entire neir final boss should be sued by the guy who made the red queen of resident evil its a gaint rip off anyway that said they could just avoid making stuff like that when they know can cause proplems
To be fair, you were the one who said you view XIV similar to teamspeak, or any other IM service. would it then not be in YOUR best interest to cease paying for the service and use something free to speak to your group of friends, considering you were the one who said you only use XIV for this such reason?
if the platform is terrible then change platforms. If you’ve built a community you enjoy spending time with, but you don’t enjoy the platform you spend your time ON, then change platforms, as that would be in YOUR best interest. Discord is very fleshed out, or you could move to another game.
“ I play this game in spite of the absolute worthlessness of the development team because I have built a community that I enjoy spending time with, and FF14 happens to be the crappy platform we meet on. I'm sure you remember AOL Instant Messenger, or maybe Mumble/Teamspeak? Same basic idea.”
If *they* don’t wish to change platforms, *they* don’t have to. They can use both if they want, and if they choose not to then the onus is on THEM to continue being your friend despite having no platform to contact you on. You do not have a responsibility to play a game you very clearly do not enjoy just to speak to someone - if you wish to stop playing the game, those who are worth keeping as friends would understand your decision and wish to remain on friendly terms with you OUTSIDE of the game.
No one is arguing that the current state of the game cannot be improved, and that this raid isnt dangerous to the health of others (even I had a bit of dizziness on the elevator part) but it is clear that this is not the only issue YOU have with the game, and it is clear that the issues are mounting up so much that you can’t enjoy it *in spite* of its flaws until they are worked on. As YOU SAID, FF14 just happens to be the “crappy platform” you have built your community on - if you do not like the “crappy platform” in its current iteration, then SHIFT PLATFORMS until you feel it is okay to come back. that could be in a week, in a month, or in a year, or it could be never.
If you’re worried that your friends will not shift platforms with you then either stress that they have their own autonomy and can remain on both platforms if they so choose, or if they are adamant that it has to be on THIS platform then that shows they do not care enough about your relationship to attempt to remain in contact with you, and only viewed you as another name and avatar to play the game with and chat sometimes.
There is nothing wrong with taking a break, there is nothing wrong with not liking something, and there is nothing wrong with seeking improvements - but there *is* something wrong with not removing yourself from what is clearly a stressful environment and putting the onus on yourself to keep your friend group together.
RIP Arkevorkhat : (
I must have made a bit of an enemy of them at some point myself, though for the life of me I can't remember the what, when or where. lol If Arkevorkhat and I butted heads at some point, it's easy to see why based on how they've handled themselves. Deleting their own posts doesn't do them a whole lot of good either, seeing as just about everything that they said was quoted by others.
I’ve no idea what I said that ticked the guy off so much ahah. Maybe saying that if his friends wouldn’t be willing to shift platforms to talk to him that the relationship must not have been that deep to begin with?
I just can’t wrap my head around why someone would pay SO MUCH for what they see as simply a platform to talk to their friends.
What is this mad forum post even about? This whole game is bad for epileptics. Never fought Odin in the woods at night? That's enough to make a person epileptic.
Holy shit, this guy had a complete meltdown while I wasn't looking..?
This game obviously has a metric shit ton of things that could do with a lot of improvements.. like menu's.. why on earth can I not do something just because a menu screen is open..? Or indeed something like the issue initially brought up in this (and more importantly, the other thread about this issue). It's your completely asinine and jaded way of talking about it that had people respond to you in the way that they did, OP.
Basically the OP was raving and ranting throughout this thread about how the devs aren't allowed to go through a process of trial and error, that they should get everything right the first time and never have something that is an issue for anyone. Ignoring the very real reality that there are things that legit don't show in anything other than a live environment when it comes to not only games, but software as well. There are always things that aren't an issue until the masses get to use it and it becomes clear that yes.. X is an issue and needs resolving.
Anyhow, just read back through the thread and you'll find some lovely gems of the OP saying dumb stuff, preserved in various quotes despite him doing his best to erase it.
Cant confrim that, im an epileptic myself and dont had any issues with this. Discos with tons of Discolights and so on are fare more dangerous than the stuff on the screen.
