Why am I typically last priority for Main Scenario roulettes??

This has been frequently happening since the Moogle event. I queue for main scenario roulette five minutes after reset time, it goes from waiting list number 5 to waiting list number 1 in under two minutes and then I wait... I wait... I wait, 15 minutes or greater at role waiting list number 1 before queue pops.

Been almost every day since the event. Being that it is shortly after reset time, it is level 50 only, so people behind me should NOT jump the queue and people ARE queuing, there should be absolutely zero reason for this.

OBVIOUSLY the game gives me last priority for main scenario roulettes.

Why am I ALWAYS LAST priority???

The only way people would queue jump is if people are queing together..

You might queue as a tank for example. and be number 1 in the queue..
But if I queued in a party with 2 friends on my tank with a friend on there's and another friend playing healer. Then there's a good chance we'd jump the queue and be put inthe duty before you.

The duty finder system prioritises making a full group over sticking exclusively to the queue order. So even if there are 10 tanks in the queue. 50 dps. but just 1 healer... the duty finder can't make a full group..

So when we come along with our 2 tank 1 healer party.. We'll jump straight to the front of the queue as the second healer the duty finder needs to make a full group is in our party. so now our tanks will jump straight to the front of the queue. and get mathced with the healer in the queue and the top 4 dps. (unless any of the dps happen to be partied with that other healer then they'd jump to the front of the dps queue just like we jumped to the front of the tanks.

I also think that the game tries to do a full group for something, and if for some reason it fails to do so (say a DPS afks and doesn't respond for queue) it moves down on the list to the next something it can make a group for.

For example, you are a tank queued for Alphascape v4. There are 2 other tanks, 2 healers and 5 DPS, but they are all queued for normal raid roulette. The queue pops matching you with 1 of the tanks from Normal Raid roulette, the 2 healers and 4 of the 5 DPS. However 1 of the DPS fails to respond, so normal raid roulette moves to the next DPS in line. However that DPS is level 60 so he cannot join Alphascape v4. So matchmaking grabs the 2 tanks from Normal Raid roulette, the 2 healers and the 4 remaining DPS and queues them for a level 60 Raid, and now you have to wait for 1 tank, 2 healers and 4 other DPS to queue for either normal raid roulette or Alphascape v4.

If you're a DPS this is basically the norm because of how popular the role is as well. I've sat in hour+ long queues as DPS and when I swap to healer it's 99% of the time an instant queue. Tanks are in a similar boat but I personally think their queue times aren't as quick as heals is. If you want to bypass all that, grab a healer from your FC that likes to grind and drag em with you. Or can check the PF for healers/tanks doing free queues for people since I've seen them a lot more lately.

When I used to queue for this as a DPS, I would become #1 in the queue but still had to wait over an hour. The average time, which kept updating, indicated to me that parties were successfully forming for it, but that I was not in them.

After I got in and completed it, I looked at my contacts list. Each and every tank and healer shared a world with a respective DPS. Only one of the tanks or healers queued solo and that's why I was able to get in.

A lot more people play DPS so it's with them all trying to do the content, there may not be enough tanks or healers to match with all the DPS, but the issue I experienced is a common reason as well.

Oh so parties get priority, that explains things, it would make sense people would abuse that in order to get ahead in the ques, especially the people that would be specifically waiting for the reset to que.

Yeah I mean abuse is a strong word but yes generally people queue as a group to avoid queue times.

Abuse implies that they're doing something that isn't allowed. I'd find 'make use of it' more accurate.

It's not abuse to make a party to skip the queue. Me and my fc do it regularly, its helping each other out.

They don't get priority.. the Duty Finders priority is Making full groups. Sometimes you'll find you can be waiting even longer in a party that you would solo. as 2 or 3 queuing parties might not be matchable.

party a might be 2 tanks 1 healer.
party b might be 2 healers and 2 dps
party c might be 1 tank 1 heal and 4 dps

The Duty Finder cannot put those 3 parties together in the queue so they're all stuck waiting. and while you may think party c may have a super fast queue its not always the case if alot of the people queueing as tank and healer are also in a party with a dps friend..

Ya but those larger party are not the norm. Its usually 1 healer/tank and 1-2 dps. Party C thou is likely the slowest since full 4 dps groups leave no room for the high demand roles queueing with a overflowing roles(usually dps). A party of 2 tanks and 2 healers and x dps is usually the fastest since a lot of dps will solo queue too, generally speaking.

Its all about making groups not necessarily queue order but when it has multiple that fit, it will take from queue order.

When I was at at FanFest in 2014, I got to see this happening in real time in real life when it came to the Odin trial (when it first came out and was still very hard.)

A group of 3 friends together had 2 DPS and a tank. The organizer at the front of the line would then look for groups with a healer to help fill it out, then should for whatever stuff was remaining to fill in the party until there were 2 tanks, 2 healers, and 4 DPS. Sometimes friends would willingly break up their party if they had an excess of DPS and only one DPS was needed, because that quite literally meant their friend would get to skip a huge long line.

It was really fascinating to see it in action.

There's a difference between system automation, and individual/group bias though.

Nobody has any issue with that, but if by using a group you get to literally cut in line and push back people you were there before you then I stand by the term abuse because being in a group does not equal an emergency to justify literally cutting to the front of the line and thus pushing people who could have been waiting longer further back.

If it was justified I wouldn’t use the term abuse.

It just depends on the queue. If you have a 2-player group of a healer and a DPS and the queue only needs a DPS, that group would be bypassed by a solo queueing DPS that queues in later than the group.

If it's not justified, then the game would've forced solo queueing. Instead, it's justified because the queue can form groups as fast as it can, and that benefits everyone in the queue in the big picture.

I get the sentiment but abuse is a rather strong word. There not abusing the system..

Similar things can happen in other roulettes for example. You might be level 65. And queue for the 50-70 dungeon roulette. Be the number one dps in the queue and people behind you in the queue can get in first...

All it takes is one player to queue a level 70 dungeon for example to progress through there story and people behind you in the roulette queue who are 70+ will be matched with them where you won't because your only 65..

Same thing applies again to the alliance trials levelling and raid roulettes. Being first in the queue doesn't mean you will be in the next party the duty finder can make.

Can it be an inconvenience? Sure it can.

But abuse is a stretch.

Except it's not abuse. It's the system working as intended by forming groups in an orderly fashion and getting everyone what they need.

No one is cutting in line.

Every role has its separate priority waiting list. When a group has someone reach #1 on the list for their role, they're next to go. Because they're a group that queued together, they go together. SE isn't going to split up a group of friends.

It's only abuse if that player who reached #1 first then ditched the group as soon as they got in the instance.

Groups get priority over a single person. Always been this way. Then it gets to Tanks and Healers because those are in shorter supply then DPS.

So if you join a queue at reset by yourself and a bigger group joins a queue they get priority over you. And if it's say 2 DPS they just need to match up with a Healer and Tank instead of DPS. And if you are a DPS those slots are already filled.

It's not abuse. What you are experiencing is entitlement. Yours specifically.

No they don't. Groups don't get priority at all.
The duty finders priority is making full groups. If it can do so it will pull from the front of the queue every time.

In the case if your example. 2 dps queueing together will not immediately jump to the front of the queue just because they're a party. If there's 10 tanks 50 dps and no healers for a roulette and you and friend join the queue as dps. You will be numbers 51 and 52 in the dps queue. The only way you'd take priority is with a healer. As that is the role the duty finder needs to complete a group.

and as said earlier in the thread groups can often find them selves waiting longer in the queue than people queing solo.

Right. It will fill the queue with whatever it needs whenever it needs it.
