Should I change to viera or female miqo'te?

I'll say this to start: I know this is a 100% personal preference thing and at the end of the day the only one that can decide is me. That being said, I'm getting kinda bored of my normal human male. Before I quit wow I mained a female NE (first time maining a female character in an MMO and really enjoyed it).

I just like to hear opinions on why you like one of these races more than the other.

If you wear hats with your glams, go with miqo. If the hats aren't an issue, or you don't care about any unlocked hairstyles or the ability to use any of the pre-viera hairstyles, go with viera.

I don't play female characters, but what helps me in these instances regardless of gender is this question : do i want be cute/fierce smoll or do i want be bootiful/stronk toll ?

When I'm feelin cute or like an angry fuzzball cat boy is always the way to go.

but atm, viera don't have a lot so that into consideration. Although, female NE mostly translate into viera atm.

Why not make an alt for each and spend a bit just running around and seeing what you think?
Take a look at their animations and get a feel for each.

As my fantasia purchase history would attest, I don't like one more than the other. I change when the mood suits me, including to au ra and to hyur and sometimes to lalafell for tanking.

Miqo'te. Viera is imo too tall even with shortest height

This might seem like a reasonably minor point but I've found it's a game breaker for me and I don't even bother with glamour half the time never mind take it that serious. I sometimes just like to wear helmets on my tanks and and a nice hat really makes a brd look much better in my opinion, it suits the aesthetic. So those ears are a pain in the butt.

This might make my decision a bit easier...

I do enjoy red mage and summoner and I think a big wizard hat would look awesome but I wouldn't be able to do that with a viera....

Go Miqo'te if you value headgear, or if you value 'diverse' hairstyles.. On the other hand, if you want to avoid potential freaky /tell whenever you go Limsa then don't go female miqo'te

So that happens to female miqo'te but not viera? I figured if I got a questionable tell it wouldn't matter if it was a miqo'te or viera lol.

I've had more friends, and myself included encounter /tells on Miqo'te more than Viera at least... You know because apparently female Miqo'te are 'waifuu material'. I just hate it when all I want to do is check the market, do grand company submissions or visit the Moogle Trove NPC :(

But seriously though just play around with them both on an alt, check out different varieties, recheck and look at glamour then make your decision and go from there.

Since you don't outline what you're looking for, there's really not much to say apart from "Muh race better".

I would suggest both playing in the character creator and looking at other people's Miqo'te and Viera (there's the "Show your Miqo'te/Viera" threads on the forums or Eorzea Collection).

I think you should stick with your Midlander. He looks pretty decent - and I don't think there's anything inherently more interesting about cat or bunny girls compared to the regular human equivalent. If anything, in this game it's the cat and bunny girls that are the generic option. Not Midlander men.

Either stick to what you currently have or a miqo'te

If you decide to go for Viera you might regret it due to the limited hair selections and not being able to get use hairstyles available for the other races (except Hrothgar) then there also not be able to wear headgear such as hats and most helmets.

That's interesting. I've not gotten freaky tells on my female miqo'te, but I have on my male miqo'te alt and I don't even know why I've gotten them. But the times I have it's been... very weird.

My friend had several today alone, and I've had a couple on my Miqo'te alt, as well as a few whilst on this au ra. It's not like they come in waves upon waves, but just enough to make me cringe inside; at least socialize first before pulling the waifu card, plz.

Frankly, all three options are generic! Viera, Miqo'te, and midlanders (male + female). Viera having such limited options, both the abysmal hair variety and lack of headgear exacerbate this. Miqo'te due to players largely picking very similar or samey face, skin, etc. options. When I think of midlander males I think of tons of Ardbert clones running around everywhere. Unfortunately, in my opinion, out of the bunch, midlander males are the most generic, due to the vast amount of samey npcs, player characters, and lack of significant variants in character creation.

For the OP, I would recommend shopping around, but keep in mind the problem with just making a new alt is, it can be difficult to play around with outfits or outfit pieces that you have unlocked on your main. I personally prefer viera to miqo'te, but I am playing miqo'te because of the limitations and lack of support for viera.

I remember having to change my character to male on my old account, I was just a hume but did a lot of crafting in town and as the crafting gear tends to look like you've just fell out of a strip club I got far too much attention in town. The worst are those who you can eventually work out are just trying to angle a screen shot up your skirt. The /tells are bad enough but the screen shotters made me sick in my own mouth so I eventually just changed character:rolleyes:

Haha, honestly I don't hate'em. I don't think I could play one for more than a couple of weeks.

I prefer Miqo'te, personally. Aside from the obvious, hats and more hairstyles, I like that they're petite but not extremely waifish and (to me) have less of the stereotypical bombshell/seductress type look.

I think I've gotten a completely random 'I like you' on Moogle fairly recently, it just made me go 'ehhh... waaat?' on the inside. Thankfully they said no more and I could just ignore it.

As for OP's conundrum, I second what's been suggested, just make an alt for both (or perhaps give female Au Ra a try also.. gotta fight for my race after all :p ) and see what you like. Then when you've figured it all out for yourself, get the fantasia and make the switch.

My problem with both is the lack of customization for either
I really love the 1st Miqo'te face for the Seeker of the sun, since it doesn't have stripes & also has visible nostrils - but I prefer the Keeper of the Moon rounded pupils, but it doesn't have painted in nostrils & has really dark face markings that I want to take away
--I wish we could choose Miqo'te stripes or no stripes & have access to more face customization

Both Cons-
--You can only choose 1 make-up option, blush or eyeshadow or some other random option- but only 1. In BDO you atleast have access to better options (you can wear eyeshadow & blush at the same time), in ESO you also have access to more practical options that also involve wearing eyeshadow, having face paint & having blush

The hairstyle options are lackluster all around- they're better looking for Viera but so little options- you can't even get Frans big ponytail or Mjrns bob-cut

The character creator in FFXIV is really bad & shows it's age. I could see a mobile game from a developing company having a character creator like what's available in FFXIV - I so badly want Square Enix to update the character creator

There are tons of cat girls & they all look generally the same- super pasty Sun Seekers, black & red hair.
And the same goes for Viera- overly pasty/ white & red hair or black hair

You'll like your choice better if you make something different than what other people choose, oddly enough they copy each other

Viera cons- Lack of hairstyles & no hats- you also can't wear other hairstyles except whats available in character creator- SE mostly ignored their design from FFXII & their lore feels insignificant
Female Miqo'te cons- You can't choose between face markings, they're the vanilla go-to race, have a dumb smirk on their face, their tails clip in weapons, capes & dresses (there aren't enough outfits/ armors that cater to races that have tails)

Viera Pro's- They're pretty, have bunny ears & look mature/ womanly & have a RBF (can also be a con)
Female Miqo'te Pro's- They're cute, have distinguishable eyes & face markings, you can choose the length of tail & type -Also: Keepers of the Moon have fangs, Seekers of the Sun do not. They have the most lore behind their race (Seekers of the Sun have short tails & shorter ears & are usually tan with bright eyes- they also have Harems, with 1 male courting 10+ females) (Keepers of the Moon have fangs, long slender tails, longer ears & usually solitary but their clans are Matriarchal, all female & they seek courtship when they feel like it)

One will not let you wear most head gear items/hairstyles, and one will have a tail that may or may not affect the looks of certain gear to your displeasure.

Do you want to be short or tall? That’s probably the more important question.

I'm usually fairly passive to it, but when I get a stranger who hasn't even said hello trying to declare me as their waifu, or trying to confess profound feelings or likeability without even saying hello then my entire body just cringes inside out.

Au ras are supreme, simple as. This comment comes from someone that has previously played Hyur, lalafel, currently Miqo'te in conjunction with Au Ra. Definitely not biased or anything!

go viera if you dont mind the inability to wear hats, i always want to try viera but iam the type of character who always wear hat/helmet

go cat if you dont mind some of the "gimmick", they make this cat paw hand stance when they jump or suprised emote, i know to make it more "cat" but it just made me cringe whenever i saw it happen lol (especially when my friend who make his miqo'te look manly do that it just uuuugh)

the real answer is go aura

I'm completely biased, of course, but Viera. What we lack in headwear and hairstyles, we more than make up for in the, ah... "caboose." ;3
