new relic weapon

so i am not a big fan of the "grind" + the glamour for this new relic, can i skip this 1 and wait for the new 1 to be release? does it require me to have the previous relic to continue with the new 1? :p

It depends on what you mean by 'next relic' and 'previous relic'.

If you mean, can you wait until the next expansion and do the relic in that one without requiring you to have finished this one, presumably yes; you don't need to have finished Eureka relics to start the Bozjan relics, after all, nor did you have to finish Anima relics to start Eurekan ones. (You could trade in a Zodiac relic for a head start on an Anima weapon, but I don't think they've done that since.)

If you mean, can you skip this stage of this relic and wait for the next stage of this relic, no. No more than you can decide you don't care about the Stormblood MSQ in Ala Mhigo and just skip ahead to the Doma bit. Or decide you want to do savage raids but don't care about doing the normal ones first. (Or that you want to do Ultimate content but don't want to bother with unlocking it via Savage first.)

The long and the short of it is that Relics are and have always been a top-tier bragging item for people to wave around and say "I pumped a bunch of time and resources into this item, and now it glows!"

Think of it like getting a weapon from TEA; it's difficult, time consuming, and the weapons are never going to be best in slot for a significant period of time, but if the bragging rights are worth it to you, it's a completely attainable goal.-

All previous steps required, so it is quite an investment, but it has only been such for the previous 2 steps, otherwise, the base weapon just requires 1000 Poetics (Or free if it is your first)- You can get the previous stage out of the way in a day, and this one in approximate 2 1/2 days I want to say.

One way to look at these, or perspective to find the motivation; in doing this stage of the relic you'll be getting poetics which can go towards both Zeta and Anima weapons from the ARR/HW relic chains respectively!

They aren't completely wrong though. Thing is, the relic has the potential to be BiS toward the end of the expansion since stats are customizable. Sure, not when it really counts per say, but still. It's nice to have THE best weapon for a few months.

I was able to get all 17 relic weapons during 5.35 stages. I knew the 5.45 stages will be harder, so I said I'll try one for my main first and see how difficult it is before deciding whether to get more. I completed 15 runs of Crystal Tower and then was told to get 18 memories from HW Alliance raids or Gyr Abania FATEs and then 18 memories from either Ivalice or Far Eastern FATEs. Had I known that the FATEs is random drop this time around, I probably would not have progressed further. I was doing those FATEs for three hours alongside many other players who had the same idea (was levelling my Blue Mage at the same time, to kill two birds in one stone) and boy got only 1 memory. At this rate, the Alliance Raids would be faster. I may have to go through this because my main job relic is currently not glowing having done the previous step. I will definitely not do this for all my other jobs.

well you won't have to have this completed to do the 6.0 relic, but you'll be waiting a long time for that.

Rumor has it, you only need to do that step with the 18 drops from mhach/ivalice once. But there is another step after to give it the glow. The first 15 and w/e that last one is are the only ones you apparently need to repeat for subsequent weapons.

Yeah. It's still a bit of a grind but it will in theory be slightly less miserable than having to spam Rabanastre and Void Ark.

If your are going to skip, youll need to skip this entire expansion's relic just cant skip steps, but you are free to start on next expansions relic with no strings to this current one.

It got confirmed once you complete the Void Ark/Ivalice memories you won't need to do them again for more weapons, Crystal Tower however you will need to. Just join the Blue Mage Alliance they absolutely destroy them, Blue Mage Alliance can Syrcus Tower in 10 mins tops.

I like how Crystal Tower is the one they keep around. Because we just have to keep incentivizing that content no one ever runs. It never, EVER pops for Alliance nor is it mandatory for MSQ...

Yeah, it is the same way on Crystal. I've seen Rabanastre a good bit the last few days though through roulette, but we have the relic grind to thank for that.

As I stated in different Bozja or Relic posts, I'm very disappointed & upset with SE for giving those of us option to upgrade our relic weapon without doing Bozja. I got to level 8 in Bozja when it first came out, wasnt invested in it, & stop going in it. I leveled up 3 relics via the HW fates.

Now we have to go through Bozja, complete Castrum & DR to get to the next step. That's BS. I dont want to do either fights but its seems like I'm forced to if I want do the next relic steps. Whatever happened to options SE!! Doing all of that to get an i515 weapon. I wouldnt mind the alliance raids because everyone would be doing it & the que times would be fast.

Now I doubt if do the relic any more.

I think they were being sarcastic, given they mentioned it's not mandatory for the MSQ as part of their quip, which is obviously not the case lol.
they were just pointing out that out of the three raids, they chose the one that already is guaranteed 99% of the time in Alliance roulette, rather than choosing Mhachi or Ivalice to be the part of the step you have to do for each relic.

Been this way since ARR, no reason they'd change it this time.

Pro tip for those still doing the 2nd step: fate grind is far better than Ivalice/mhachi raids. In Azim steppe I grinded out 8-9 in an hour, and that is with so-so or very average rng and just a small number of Blu's and randoms. Ivalice raids take about 20mins per run because they are just long, so 3-4 an hour, if your real life stamina holds out.

It is HIGHLY RNG dependent. I found that doing the raids was more efficient, but that's because Fate RNG largely hated me. I got a few for my efforts, but I got more for my time by doing the raids.

Raids are quicker, Fates are only relevant if you got Blue Mage to wipe them out quickly.

I think them making a distinction in the way they have between Bozja and the relic is a good decision really, as it is a perfect test to see how content like Bozja holds up independent of the relic. Locking the relic behind Bozja will really skew it. Since the incentive will be to do Bozja FOR the relic and not for other reasons. So I think it's a good chance for them to see if Bozja-esque content is worth developing going forward into future expansions. Otherwise, I daresay they'll play around until they find something that works.

One of the biggest criticisms of Eureka was you HAD to do it if you wanted the relic, and that it was the ONLY choice. This criticism was obviously addressed, perhaps too much.

The issue with CLL at the moment is just the overall incentive behind it. If it had the incentive or a sufficient number of people doing it then I'd argue that it wouldn't be an issue. That being said I'm surprised they didn't make the final step of the relic be CLL, PotD, and Delubrum.

I hope. I am 9/8 on the mhach/ivalice drops so far since I am doing it casually and it is the most painful grind I have done yet in this game. And I did around 5-6 atma weapons pre-nerf. I tried farming fates but after an hour of solid farming with 0 drops I gave up and went back to another mhach. This is just beyond ridiculous.

It actually wasn't a good thing and would make for a horrible dataset. Farming the drops outside of Bozja could get you all 60 easily in an evening of farming with the remaining 6 done in an hour or so, while in Bozja, even at rank 15, it would take days to get the same amount of drops. Now if they dropped at the same rate it would be a fair comparison, but since they drop at alarmingly different rates, with Bozja being an immensely extensive grind by comparison, any comparison would be so flawed it would be worthless.

I think Bozja would have seen a lot more completion if they would have just made the drop rate the same both inside and outside, for all the various memories. Then they could use that data for future content.

You can get some other things done like leveling alt jobs and your chocobo, for example. It's not so bad.

This relic has been very compatible with grinding an Anima weapon at the same time. You get crystals, GC seals, light and memories from HW fates. Then poetics and memories from the alliance raids, of which the void ark series also gives light. You can also do leveling roulettes for singing clusters and memories.

Thanks good to know. I’ve completed the Void Ark / Ivalice step already. I spammed them the last couple of days. I’m now in the Delubrum/PotD step, which are even more tedious. Oh well, it is penultimate stage of a relic after all.

It's not as bad with POTD provided you got luck bring Machinist to clear 51-60 fast, nothing beats it.

I do not do relic weapons because of this. The grind is ridiculous. Besides these weapons, no matter how powerful you make them INSTANTLY get replaced with the first set of gear and weapons you are given In the new expansion. So they are useless after the expansion you got them in.

They are cool, but I won’t grind or pay money for pixels. I’ll do my tomes and get my gear that way or craft hq max level gear.

They're worth it for doing synced Ultimates thanks to their custom stat setups, they're your choice setup.

Yes, this is quite true. This is the only glam I pursue though.

In my 5+ years of playing I have never posted on this forum. This new relic has made me come on here just to say how absurd this step of the relic is.

No other relic step as been this crazy, and its in old content. Its just lazy on SE's part. To get the first step done you are looking on 30+ hours of grinding old content that we have been playing for years. I leveld my secondary class which is whm because thats what I have been using in Bozjan. I will never do this again even if it is 36 raids less. I dont even care if I dont have this on my main class. Its not worth it. I wouldnt even finish this thing if I hadnt already ran 51 raids.

Needed to vent because this is insane, this is coming from someone that has no problem with grinding stuff.

Finally got my relic done. It was a grind, for sure, but at least the DR step was fun and I got the hair to drop for me. And I'll never have to do the Mhachi/Ivalice step again.

I totally disregard doing the relic now. I never was invested bojza, after level 8 i stopped going into bozja. Now that you have to Castrum & Delubrum to advanced the relic weapon & along with doing the grind to a whopping i515 weapon, I'll pass.
