I hope they see this and they know I think they're kinda dumb when it comes to a LOT of their monetization. I already (happily) pay the sub and (not really happily but whatever) pay for the 7 additional retainers 6 months at a time..

The image they use for scale makes it look like Large house is in there. I'd assume for a small this would take up a pretty big portion of the area. So it's probably fairly big considering what it is.
For an older event item also, that allows you to throw snowballs at anyone as long as you're standing on it, I'd say it's pretty worth it considering how often emotes are used at one another.
I'd rather complain about the food housing items you pay real money for and go away after a certain amount of uses. -

I being one of them-- So I ended up breaking down and spending $21 on 3 piles of snow, a snowman, a pile of twinkleboxes, and one of the decorated trees. Settings adds immersion and for us roleplayers and it makes the moments all the more enjoyable.
I bought these... and, no, I was not /happy/ with the transaction.. or at least not nearly as much as SE was with getting my money. There is an imbalance there for a lot of us and it would be great and consumer friendly if SE takes a less fleecing approach to how they price their 'not mandatory for YOU but highly sought by RPers' items.
The /snap emote for $7 for instance? A GREAT item for a RPers arsenal... But the price makes me wanna SNAP right at some people in SE. -

My other cheap entertainment are books I can hold-- physical goods-- paints and art supplies .. these are digital goods and it is only a modern day anomaly that some of society measure digital worth on even grounds as physical property. You don't even own FFXIV just as you don't own Disney.. We just pay to enjoy it but resources are much different; harder to really assign a worth since there is no stopping every single person from owning every single digital item offered asides from money. Disney is gated by real world limits; resource limitations; maximum capability laws they must adhere too. Server getting clogged? Get an additional server-- yes, this costs money but they're already making a killing in sales when it gets to worlds reaching their maximum limits.
Anyways.. we're not changing any minds here; I can say that there is such a thing as a Buyer's Remorse solely due to the cost of what you get -- you can tell me my feelings are wrong. It's something we'll have to disagree on. -

It would be nice if SE didn't break the immersion so much where you see snowfall and your lot is still as green as a midsummer day. When I RP at my 'leathershop' I do pretend it is snowing everywhere not that any other house in the surrounding areas matter too much to my immersion. The immediate area, however does. Is it required?.. I never said it was... I RP as an ice attuned and I mourn not having the shiva emote that came with the $200 statue... but I just as easily pretend such without emotes.. My character can snap their fingers without paying $7 ... and so on.. It's a thing I value.. maybe cause I'm a visual person .. maybe cause I like to make my lots pretty.. But I value them and $3.50 for a pile of snow isn't a terrible amount.. it's if you want 3 of them to have some coverage.... it's when your mind keeps going back to --"they must be making a killing.. if only 5% of the game population buys this snow.. they could definitely afford to lower the price to negate this terrible buyer's remorse"...Quote:

Considering there are only enough houses for about 40% of the player base, im going to assume the number looking to buy this on the mogstation is far less then 5%. But thats not the reason i decided to post. I cant tell you that you dont feel buyers remorse. What i can do is ask what you think the price would have to be to eliminate that feeling for you. Looking at the prices on the mogstation, most items in the same class as the snow(housing or single item wearable from past event) are either $3 or $5. And nothing i could find was less then $2(these were exclusively emotes from past events). So whats the price that you would feel good about?

There will always be players complaining it's a cash grab regardless what a company does. Players want to spend the least amount of money possible, preferably zero. Even F2P games get complaints when players have to buy the cosmetic/vanity items they want when "it could have been a reward that would get us to log in to play".
Personally I don't think they need to boost the visibility of sales more than they already do. We get the Lodestone topics both when a sale starts and a few days before it ends. The launcher splash is an ongoing things for the duration of the sale. Sale items get featured on the default page of the new Store website plus have a separate category for those who want to see just the sale items, not the recommended or most popular.
The last thing I want is F2P style cash shop advertising when you get a pop-up as soon as your character loads telling you to go buy things off the cash shop, or reminding you about the cash shop when you reach certain points in content. Seeing other players using the cash shop items is more than enough of a reminder in game that it exists.
If the thought is "well if they can get more players to buy, then I can pay less", it's not going to happen. People willing to buy from a cash shop are generally already doing it. Lowering prices might attract a few more buyers on niche items but the volume of new sales almost never covers the difference for the revenue that would have been earned at the original price.
If they sell 10,000 units of an item at $3.50, then they need to sell 17,500 if they lower the price to $2 or 35,000 at $1 to get the same revenue. It's not going to work with items that you buy once then never need to buy again. $3.50 is already so cheap that someone who really wants it is going to go ahead and buy it. It does work with consumable items that the player wants to keep reusing and so has to keep rebuying (why we see things like the dyes selling 10 for $10 - people will keep repurchasing them at that price). -

I think they should come in a $10 bundle with 4 snow piles. However, I would much rather have a new event with new and improved snow piles because these ones kinda suck.
1. They are too small to cover a large area with the extremely restrictive item restrictions we have for yards, especially the 20 items for small houses. I once did a Christmas house on commission for a client and tried to cover the yard with these and gravel dyed white. There was literally nothing else in the yard and there was green grass peeking out everywhere.
2. They have a really irregular shape that makes it difficult using them in bulk, especially with gravel. The edges are tall but the middle is really low. For one, if you put several in a row, it looks extremely patterned and unnatural. But also, if you wants some "flattened" areas made from gravel, this is really hard to do because except for the edges, the gravel lies above the snow, so you end up seeing random sharp corners of gravel in the middle of the snow.
Can we just get new snow drifts that are 2-4 times the size and taller in the middle than the edges, so we don't get any weird patterns when combining them?
