is the diadem being removed in ishgard housing update?

heard some people discussing the diadem was going to be removed in the 5.4 update with ishgard housing?

Could I get a proof statement if this is true or not?

Is it true that Ishgard housing is coming out that soon? Don't get my hopes up man T^T

I havent seen any announcements on either front. There should be a live letter in 2-3 weeks that will have actual info on the upcoming patch.

I think they might find another lore reason to keep the Diadem, imo. It's a good way to level DoL and I guess some people enjoy it, it would be strange to just totally delete it.

Diadem will definitely be needed in 5.4x as a source of materials for the new recipes that will be added for the Restoration and most likely another set of Expert achievements.

There's also no indication that SE plans to remove the existing Expert and Skyward Point achievements any time in the near future so Diadem will continue to be needed for farming the mats for those.

I expect Diadem to remain at least through the end of this expansion so players have a chance to complete all those achievements. I'm not going to speculate about what they might have planned for it next expansion.

We also don't know that we'll be getting Ishgard housing in 5.4. SE has said nothing to that effect. All we know is that the final stage of the Restoration will be added in 5.4x. I think it's more likely to be added in 5.5 (especially since they've already told us the pandemic obstructed their plans to add more servers for additional housing).

They have said nothing about either Ishgard housing or the Diadem.

We don't even know for sure that we will be getting Ishgard housing at all, though at this stage I would be quite surprised if we didn't get it.
Personally I don't expect us to get Ishgard housing until 6.0. They wouldn't want to add it until they are sure all servers have finished all stages of the Ishgard restoration anyway.

So far there is no information on player housing in Ishgard.
Nothing has confirmed that it's coming, so don't get your hopes up.

Looking at the map of the Firmament, we're maybe halfway through the restoration. 13 housing plots have been completed, and I think we're currently working on the apartment building on my server. It looks like the current phase ends right after that. It would be very strange for the rest to just be completed between patches without help from players, so I expect there to be at least one more restoration phase, likely two and possibly even three. Which means no Ishgard housing in 5.4. Depending on how the remaining work is paced, it might be coming as late as 6.0.

As for the Diadem, I doubt it will be removed. Storywise the Firmament is only the first region of Ishgard to be restored, so they could easily keep all the related gathering and crafting content and just say the efforts are going towards restoring other areas we don't happen to have access to.

There's still a ranking season in 5.4, and Yoshi said it's the last one. I honestly expect the housing to come in 5.5 since the restoration will be over before that. But no clue if the whole crafting/gathering thing will go away with the restoration or if they'll find a way to keep it, they said nothing on the topic.

Tbh, I don't think Housing would make it into the 5.5 Patches. I'm more expecting them to use the Ishgard Housing area (if it is coming, since nothing is confirmed) as a big selling point for 6.0, with the actual release in 6.1.

But damn, I really hope they turn it into instanced Housing the player is gifted with in 5.5x.

Diadem will stay, I suppose, maybe they'll add some materials that a lot of crafts use or shards and crystals. Or materials from all reconstruction phases for the achievements.

They don't need it to be a big selling point for 6.0. There will be plenty of other new content that will sell the expansion.

If housing is that big a draw for new players, they're better off releasing it in 5.5. Get them to buy the game sooner instead of waiting until next expansion. It would also ease the frustations of existing players to a small degree if it's a standard ward and to a larger degree if it's a new form of instanced housing. They really can't afford to delay an effective response to the housing situation much longer.

But they also know how much the veterans want Ishgard as well. I'm not saying you're wrong, your point are all right and it would be nice if it hit sooner. But SE is still a company and is out for profit, and if they can use Ishgard housing to make people buy 6.0 rather than hope they will stay for the story...

That actually raises an interesting question. How many people play and pay for an MMO without getting the latest expansion? Im sure there are some, but the number has to be fleetingly small doesnt it?

For MMOs in general, not necessarily. Look at WoW - buy the base game and you've got content from 5 expansions. That's a good 1000+ hours of game play if you do everything at least once. Unless you're only interested in end game content, there's little need to buy Battle for Azeroth.

For FFXIV, the number is probably pretty small. Until 5.3 was released, the base game only included ARR/post-ARR while Shadowbringers included Heavensward and Stormblood in addition to Shadowbringers. Players would be a lot more likely to want to buy the expansion as a result, especially since the content in the later expansions has a much better reputation than ARR did. With HW now part of the base game, there's less pressure for the new player to buy an expansion.

While the firmament sure looks like a housing map, when i see so many people 100% sure that we will get some Ishgard housing even though SE did never confirm it, it seems that a big part of the community did learn nothing of the dancer 100% sure to be a healer XD

Especially when we have being told many times that the firmament is for the poor citizens of Ishgard. Are we gonna expropriate them all so that the adventurers can snatch all the plots ? It doesn't really fit the strong emphasis FF14 has on the lore.

Have they even confirmed that in Ish we're making player housing?
I hope I've just missed the memo, but it seems that's a conclusion we've all come to on our own.

Keep in mind he didn't say "as soon as it is completed". He said "after".

So it could be 5.5 or 6.0 or even 6.5 but yes, there will eventually be Ishgard housing for players. Considering the COVID situation and how that made it difficult to increase the current number of wards as they had hoped to do, what they originally intended could end up delayed if they continue to have problems getting the work done to install new housing servers.

What form will that housing actually be? We don't know yet. We can only guess from what we see, which appears to be a standard ward design.
