A little Ninja suggestion

Ok, so as a Ninja i was used to Tank dragging mobs AWAY from my Doton apparently because they were scared of that strange aoe on the ground, but today, during expert roulette, i had one who moved out on my Doton, then suddenly walked ACROSS it with all the mobs to blindly run until a door would stop him...

So i was thinking, could we make Doton just an aoe that puts a Dots on every mob in it's radius instead of just have to count on cooperative tanks to keep mobs inside it ?

Its not that floor aoes look terrible, its how they work that sucks. I agree, but you gotta fight summoner to the death when it comes to spreading your dots properly. Or scholar. probably both.

Don't place the Doton until the tank has finished pulling.

Any other issues are due to bad tanks.

Don't worry, i'm always waiting for the tank to finish pulling, making sure i have him like in the middle of my aoe, it's just that some ( probably new ones ) will run away from it, or sometimes Tank will start running halfway throught the pack of mobs just to be able to pull the boss as fast as possible

I don't have issues with the spell itself, i just made a suggestion of a little change that could make it less '' party dependant ''

You'd think. And yet easily half of my dotons get jebaited out even after I waiting for the tanks to come to a full stop—they start moving as soon as they see me hitting the mudras. (I suspect that they memorize the mudra combination just so they know when to hit sprint.)

Another thing to consider, is that the tank may have all effects turned off, though i usually keep party effects on limited because of things like floor aoes. Said tanks just might not even see them on the ground, party effects like holy spam etc, can get pretty ridiculous when you're trying to dodge enemy cones and circles on the floor.

I have all effects turned off for other players. It doesn't eliminate ground effects.
Doton, Salted Earth, SMN's ground DoTs whatever they're called, Asylum, Sacred Soil, Earthly Star and Collective Unconscious are all still visible.

I'd say keep the puddle for the heavy effect and to apply the DoT to any late adds to the party. It could apply a 30s DoT that isn't rewritable so that the puddle and DoT wear off at the same time as normal but there isn't a DPS penalty given to the NIN based on someone else's actions.

A mob isn't going to sense your Doton and move out of it. Enemy AI doesn't work that way. What is likely happening is the as the tank is dancing around AoEs, he is taking mobs out of Doton. Another likely scenario is if he has gathered wall to wall, mobs will tend to try to create a ring around the tank. Also don't forget you can stun one of the mobs every 40s, so you can at least keep one of them from moving out of it.

You can also try to get a feel for which way your tank tends to dodge, and accommodate your target circle accordingly. It may be better served to wait until the first set of AoEs go out before you place your Doton. Especially during a massive pull.

Two uses of Mudras... Can always replace it with a second Mudra. I'm ok with it, honestly, as it really doesn't bother me. Playing as NIN since 2014(!?), I am used to it by now. I generally wouldn't even cast Doton until I'm cleared to do so.

One thing I do is place my Doton ON the tank. As mentioned about mobs trying to circle the tank, this works well for those mobs who are pushing each other to get through.
