This is... mnk/pug forum.
To answer to OP, cap thoses stats :
350 STR
310 INT
then go for Attack
i hope it'll help. Actually i'm using melded STR gloves (+46), Explorater's tunic (using AF only when using fist of ***), try to meld legs too, some STR and INT (you have to cap 350 STR first).
Oh. Duly noted.
I don't play Monk at all so I can't help ya!
So whats the optimum gear to be wearing now (besides darklight)?
Assuming Ifrit's Claws, the aim for monk is:
350 STR
310 INT
450-480 ACC, in order to confidently hit Things That Matter.
Seeker of the Sun base, with Ifrit
246 STR
252 INT
520 ATK
349 ACC
So STR/INT-wise, I'll need:
104 STR
58 INT
At least 101 ACC
Let's begin.
Temple Circlet: 25INT (-33) 3STR (-101)
Serpent Sargeant's Tunic: 10STR (-91) 7ATK; Explorer's Tunic: 6STR (-95) 5ATK 5ACC
Flame Sargeant's Sash: 10ACC; Veteran's Field Belt: 5ACC 2STR (-89/-93)
Temple Boots: 3INT (-30) 3ATK
Depending on your gearing philosophy, disposable gil and luck, melded equipment and accessories will vary. Here is one example using triple-melding:
Felt Trousers: STR4 (-85/-89)
MELD--STR17 (-68/-72)
Fingerless Raptorskin Gloves+1: ATK6
MELD--STR50 (-18/-22)
Rubellite Ring+1: 18STR (-0/-4)
Zircon Ring+1: 18INT (-12)
Explorer's Choker: 15ACC
Explorer's Earring: 5ATK
IF STR IS CAPPED Zircon Bracelets+1: 4INT (-8)
IF STR IS NOT CAPPED Rubellite Bracelets+1: 4STR (-0)
Consume Eft Steaks: 7INT (-1/-5) ~37ATK
Result:
350STR/350STR (-2/-2 if using Flame sash instead of Veteran)
309INT/305INT
578ATK/580ATK
379ACC (-5 if using Flame sash instead of Veteran) *20% FPB = 454/453 ACC
Note that this does not account for any virtual ATK/ACC generated by STR/DEX.
You should, of course, fanangle with the various materia to hit the target that suits your particular race/clan/situation.
The reason I did not include Rainmaker's Tunic with Savage Might and Explorer's Moccasins is due to Kaeko's crit testing, which points to an unreasonably high amount of "+Crit Rate" required to increase critical hit rates as well as the reduced effectiveness of "Crit Attack Power" on mobs of higher levels. At present, the only crit that matters to you is the one forced by Blindside with your Howling Fist; in the long run you would be better off with more STR/INT/ACC.Quote:
Why Not Crit+/Crit ATK+?
I figure MNK AF is such a generous piece that you need not start there when legs/hands will need the most work. Melding INT to the head opens accessory slots up to other ATK and ACC combinations.Quote:
Why not meld billions and billions of INT on the head?
oh lolQuote:
When he said 'besides Darklight' he meant 'besides Darklight, which I already know about,' not 'besides Darklight, which should not be considered.'
Some AF alternatives/better choices:
Head: Felt Cavalier's Hat/Electrum Monocle (x2 INT)
Body: Explorer's Tunic or Rainmaker's Tunic (x2 Crit Atk)
Hands: Fingerless Raptorskin Gloves of Slaying (x2 ATK)
Legs: Felt Trousers (x2 STR/DEX)
Feet: Explorer's Moccasins
How about a double intelligence meld on Silver Tricorn.
what does 350 str accomplish?
350STR is the WS stat cap for hand-to-hand weapons with a 131 damage rating (Ifrit's Claws exclusively, at this point).
This means each point of STR, up to a maximum of 350, provides its full bonus to the damage calculation of WSs. After 350, it still provides a bonus, but at a reduced rate due to the derivation of ATK (unlisted in the equip screen) at a rate of 3STR:2ATK.
INT is similarly capped at 310 for WS, though without the benefit of virtual ATK.
Read this post by Seiken for more info.
If you obsessively monitor your ST recast and always have a target available to take advantage of that reduced recast, you might be able to make a case for it in terms of burst damage and TP gain. Maybe. In a particularly long fight.Quote:
General consensus is that AF legs for lower tackle recast just aren't worth it I assume?
Note that it would take a full 10 minutes of spot-on ST usage to get in one "extra," and if ST slips your mind or is inconvenient to use for even 6 seconds, the bonus is wasted.
I would not recommend wearing it for the recast bonus, but for leg gear it has decent stats (and it is, more importantly, free).
Probably because the cost/time investment required doesn't match up with the reward. On Durandal, Silver Tricornes are worth about 200-250k; Felt Cavalier's Hats and Electrum Monocles are around 30k. You might get lucky, but you might also get unlucky, and spending almost ten times as much on the base item is a serious gil drain.
I have no issues putting out some pretty decent damage with full AF and some accessories, just saying that you don't NEED all the best in slot 2/3/4x melded materia gear to do good damage. It helps you get better results though.
I'd like to bring up the Raptorskin Pot Helm. It's 1 less INT than the Cavalier Hat and the Monocle but it has 5 Accuracy to make up for it and will help out your melee, unlike the other pieces that have stats you can't use at all except for Piety on the Cavalier hat.
Of course it looks terrible but that's what /display head off is for =)
2 less than Monocle, but the main reason why I recommend Monocle/Felt Cav Hat is because they're both great for BLM. You seem to also only need around 360 base acc against Miser's Mistress to be at 99-100% accuracy.
Oh right. I use the Felt Hat of Intelligence on my BLM for the added Magic Accuracy (I think its 1 point better than the monocle) but that's not usable by MNK. The Cavalier hat and monocle would be useful to save space.... hmmmm
how do i meld gear?
First you have to be able to create the gear by having the corresponding craft class the same level as the item you want to meld.
Then you do a quest for the the Goblin "Mutamix Bubblypots" north of Uldah, it will enable you to meld 1 materia.
After you meld 10 materia talk again to the Goblin to learn how to meld more than 1 materia.
All materia-related questions can be answered here. Melding is near the bottom.
So I melded a Silver Tricorn +1 with 32 Intelligence today... I almost dont want to get the Dark light eyepatch :/
Awesome! I wish I had a +35 :/Quote:
We have quite a few +1's in the LS with 35 int. It really is a nice alternative to the eye patch.
Personally I don't wear any of the AF.
Head: darklight eyepatch +20 INT -10, eva ,+15 att, crit hit rating +40, crit att power +30
Body Storm: Sergeants Tabard +10 STR, hp +60. acc+5,att+10
Legs: Felt Trousers ( Ironmans will IV and Swordsmans cry IV) hp +23, +21 STR,+16 VIT,+7 DEX
Feet: Darklight Calligae hp -60, PIE+15, acc+10, eva-7, crit att power+40
Gloves: Felt Bracers+1 (2 STR tier IV) STR+36, PIE+3,Acc+6,M.eva+11
waist: Veterans fieldbelt STR+2, acc+5
Neck: Electrum Gorget+1 +30 att
Wrists: Rubellite Bracelets+1 mp+15 STR+4
Rings: Rubellite Ring+1 STR+18 (two of them)
Earring: Explorers Earring Att+5
Gives me
351 STR
275 INT
580 ATT
I use eft steaks since str is capped boosting my INT by another 7 and att by another 41. With fists of fire up my ATT is 752.
Yeah those new GC body pieces are pretty sweet, just got mine for DRG last night, loving it
Also the GC bracelets and earrings are pretty good too (at least the ones from Limsa), and unlock their bonuses if both are worn with the GC body.
Thumbs up Zephyros.
Lominsa Bracelet + Lominsa earring + Lominsa Body = very good alters.
The added bonuses from these 3 pieces combined lets me swap 1 STR ring with an INT ring to cap my INT.
I sacrifice 1 STR and 7 evasion, but gain +11 INT, +12 DEF, +5 Attack Power, +5 Accuracy, +60 HP and -20enmity over my current setup!!!
erm.. so with Avengers +1 (D140 +7STR +7INT +15atk )... It is impossible to get near stat cap without triple melds? I'm not so familiar with the DPS formula so please help me out~
Melded Silver Tricone +1 with 35 INT, Now what Gloves do i use to meld STR to and what order do i meld II-III-III or what?
Felt Bracers as they'll double for DRG too.
Assuming you want to shoot for about 40+ then 11/13/16 meld should work well. There's a few ways you can slice that but the rule of thumb is meld lowest bonus to highest.
