Dungeon Finder WHY NOT-

Like this thread IF you agree that It's a bad idea-

Reason why it's a bad IDEA-
Kill's the social in every server
Meet players you will most likely never meet again-
Will almost never meet anyone in your own server-
Will force future players to use this system-

--------------------------------------------------------

Player's who are currently playing knows each other in each servers- This will be considered GROUP A (a community that's already within the server)
If they added this new System now- Half of the community GROUP A will turn into group B- Always logging in and seeking a party (Most likely will go AFK until a party is matched up)
I would say 75% of the players will start doing that instead of accepting invite from there own server since It's much faster to use the system-
Human's will Take convenience over anything especially people from the USA (That is the reason why RMT are always making MONEY)
New player's won't be able to find players because--- Current players GROUP B will always be searching for dungeon with the new system-
While Group A will probably have there own link shell and help each other--- Why help a newbie when your own link shell needs your support or needs your help or you need there help---

This will make NEW PLAYERS force to turn into group B-

DESTROYING the future of MMO and social aspect of this game-
You see WOW did many great stuff- But they destroyed the reason to even play a MMO------

MMO- are suppose to be adventurous- experiencing the wild- traveling and exploring the land and especially challenging- socializing making new enemies and new friends- partying and making parties. MMO are supposed to be competitive.

By giving us instant teleport - giving us access to quick access- giving us access to battles so quick- giving us experience so quick- by giving us faster drop rate-
on top of that they want to give us access to finding parties easier by using dungeon finders? This will kill and destroy the last aspect of this MMO-

We've already lost interest in exploring- you don't see anyone traveling (Anima teleport)

We already lost interest and challenge in battles Notorious Monsters Goblins, Dodoree ect... (Ifrit moogle darkhold) - 5-15 minute re-enter or repop-
by giving us totem drop trade for items--- Letting many players fight a special notorious monster so quickly- re pop 5 minute timer---- losing the aspect of competition.
You can't even make enemies in mmo that has Dungeon finders- because your only enemies will last 30 minute and you'll never see them again.
You can't make new friends because everyone who doesn't know you will most likely use the dungeon finders-
REASON WHY THEY WILL?? It's convenient.

Like this tread if you want Dungeon finders and agree it's a good idea-

Reasons:Convenient?? Faster?? Log out faster?? More time in Real Life---
New players can find faster parties- Don't have to wait for players you know to log in.

I dislike your generalization of USA citizens.

I do, however, agree with your opinions regarding Content Finder - to an extent. My biggest concern involves immersion, not convenience.

So is this weeks't theme content finder?

Last week was instancing, week before that was anima. What'll be next week's theme?

As much as I'm against it... its coming. we can complain all we want, but it is coming!

These threads unfortunately are useless.

This game is going to be for casual players. A theme park of sorts!

It is indeed being implemented, but the specifics of how it will work are not confirmed. So this is still a valuable topic for conversation and debate!

I honestly do not get it.. How is Easy to get a party for said content "bad"? I mean what if this "content finder" just places you into a group of 8 people and then you just go there like you normally would, and not be plopped there? Of course people are going to use it, because its easier to do that, rather than to search for people. But there also something that people fail to see:

-For Harder content, people aren't going just "Get random people and wing it" they will use the PC search to search within there server, or have their own Linkshell to tackle the hader content down. That much is fact.
-For Exp, the only way to get Via Content finder is through dungeon content ( which we all know is pointless, but hey some people will use it for that as well, but its not the most Optimal way of getting exp.)
-For Exp parties, People will do what they would normally do "Use PC search to find people within their server to exp all around Eorzea.
-Frontlines (PvP) is Non-Instanced ( They are making it in a way that enemies won't interfere with non-participating players, so Content finder will most likely won't be used for this)

The only thing Content finder will be used for honestly is for the High-end content (sometimes). I say sometimes because some content.. you just can't do it with random members, so you have to do it within your home server, where you know everyone and what they do, to really get any of that accomplished.

Content Finder will only really be used if:

-Content is Easy enough to tackle down Via Random people
-If People dont have enough time to looking for "awesome people" and just want to get in a quick match before doing there real life duties or have other things planned.
-People that are impatient to find people on their Server, so they resort to content finder
-If it takes to long to finder people Via PC Search to do Content that's easy enough to tackle down with random people they will use it.

I been thinking about this all this morning while over my aunts house Drinking Coffee and randomly talking about it, I got her laughing a lot :P, All of what I said was me thinking for a couple of hours trying to find pros and cons.. but really there's isn't any cons.. You have to realize that there is going to be a lot of potential players of all types, not everyone is going to use content finder. Some people will use it some people won't, but its only made for Dungeons/Primals. If we all start out at lvl 1, we will be exploring the world as normal, because Content finder is made for.. well content! Exping isn't really content.. its just leveling up from point A to point B that's it.

In Conclusion, Content finder won't disrupt the balance of the community that some people say, because it's only ment for Easy/medium hard content (If people choose to use it for that). However, the harder content, I do not foresee people using the Content finder to get Random people to do hard content, unless they just want to kill time.

I don't really know how I feel about it (so I'll refrain from voting). On the other hand, I'm sure this wouldn't make me stop interacting with my LS mates and friends, nor will it make me stop interacting with strangers on my own server.

In Red are the Key words here, Regular Leveling, is done Normally, Content Finder is for Easy/Medium stuff that you can do randomly. Hard stuff its highly unlikely people will use Content Finder.

In Blue, "Across all worlds" meaning the Content "HAS" to be instanced to fall under this Category. Reguardless if its Instanced or not, if they just randomly group you together and then you have to go there yourself.. its the same as just using PC search and get people lol.

It won't make you stop interacting with other player's but it will make you stop interacting with newer player's and current players that you don't really know as much because---- they will be afk searching for a party and return when a party is found- not like your going to send a random tell to someone standing there -.- OR ARE YOU? lol

I know what the future holds- because war of world craft already destroyed the social aspect in the game --- from level 1+ you never interact and almost never meet new players until you are in your last level- If you meet a person your bond is very weak- compare to other mmo-- hence this is why I bring this thread back up!

Are we making up eventualities now? I fail to see the logic in that one, as it's worded it will allow people to look for others in other servers, the grouping mechanic is still there and kicking. Either way you have to group up eventually, if you can do it with friends or an LS, good for you but if not then you have the other option.

I doubt it will render regular grouping null. Sheez. There's a big difference between content finding and putting up your flag and AFK waiting for the /tell to ding? There's always going to be people like that IN your server OR cross server....

edit: I played WoW before the group finder was implemented and in my humble opinion that community was destroyed looooooooong before the dungeon finder ever came in. I never could play that game long because the feeling of playing with others was dead, again that was before the finder.

I think content finder was two weeks ago...this guy just missed the boat....


course we have our weekly anima one......and so on lol

funny thing is all these things the Devs already talked about and we already know what they are going to do.....I guess some ppl just don't like it and see how like....world merger was changed through b*tching and they hope this will change through b*itching :)

I'am not bitching i'am pointing out the reason why content finder is a bad idea- although a great idea on the same time-

Instead of theorizing, I'll recount the actual effects of cross-server interaction as it happened in WoW.

We had a fantastic community on the WoW EU Vashj server. There was lots of friendly rivalry, everyone knew everyone and people actually tried to their best to triumph because they had a sense of pride in their community. Then we got cross-server battlegrounds and the transformation of the server was as rapid as it was dramatic: Suddenly you rarely saw familiar faces on the battleground, suddenly there would be bots, and suddenly people would intentionally lose a tough looking match to get another one started sooner. There was a complete morale collapse in both factions. But hey, our queue times vanished! I didn't have to wait but now there was nothing worth waiting for, either.

The old rivalries eventually faded as it became increasingly difficult to face your old enemies in battle. People started losing touch with the server community as a whole and EU Vashj fell into a slump. All the top guilds broke down and the players scattered to other servers, searching for new top guilds.

These were just the effects of cross-realm battlegrounds. Once the Dungeon Finder was introduced, people stopped socializing altogether and withdrew to their guild cliques. Those who had no guild large and strong enough to support their grouping needs had to resort to mixed server groups that rarely spoke, at least not in a positive tone (why bother when you'll never see the other guys again?), and where you'd easily get away with bad behaviour. The largest MMO in history was transformed into something more closely resembling Diablo, Guild Wars or Phantasy Star Online, except with gameplay less suited for it.

Your points are invalid as...this is not WoW, and we are not talking about PvP .....you are off topic by like +2

I am sorry cross server pvp killed your WoW community, but the insight you gained from that experience is only mildly applicable to this instance....

PPSO was a completely instanced game, again don't apply here....BUT you are assuming that PPSO and guild wars and diablo had bad commnities, and they don't /didn't...I made many friends in all those games ^^

You are stating this eventuality like it's fact. It is not, all the information we have points towards it will allow for people to search cross servers. It does not mean people will automatically use it as a crutch, especially if the normal party search works fine and people in general are friendly. Nothing kills a community faster then people looking down on newbies and making them feel unwelcome or at worst stupid. (Which you will find in WoW)

And guess what? People in WoW never talked to newbies soloing their quests BEFORE the finder either... Therefore I am not buying this was the reason WoW's community died. To me it was already pretty vacant other then my guild chat... I've easily made more friends in every other MMO that wasn't wow regardless if it was Guild Wars, CoH, EQ2, Age of Conan, LotrO, name the MMO really...

WoW is just not newbie friendly in a social sense unless you find a guild that's friendly.... Which really was also valid for XI and XIV. Except in XIV I've actually made friends just walking around..

Personally I hope this cross server thing allows us to add people from other servers on our friend's list so we can keep tabs on our new friends and see if they are available for other stuff later on. How about we think of the good things that could come with this instead of always focusing on the mistakes/failures of a previous template?

I want that feature. Am tired to not have a lot to do on week. There's only dungeons OR farming. I rather do dungeons over and over till I puke or knock out and drink to much redbull to say "OMG MY HEART GONNA DIE!"

I think the anima teleport is cool because it is an advantage for the casual player. If you load up on leves and teleport/return/teleport/return like a crazy person, you're going to run out of anima soon enough and it's going to take awhile to regenerate. I think immersion is important, but I do not enjoy running marathons on my chocobo.

It's nice knowing that if I don't want to play this game every waking moment of my life, I can get up, have a coffee, enjoy a bar of rested exp, and spend a few hours running leves and have it be easy and efficient.

That said, I don't really know anything about the dungeon finder :/
This game has also gotten LOADS better in the last... 6 months? A lot of interesting and thoughtful changes have been implemented recently, so I will trust the dev teams judgment for now until I see how it pans out myself.

content finder in FFXIV will end up being alot of failed attempts like a getting a pickup party for stuff now. unless they make easier content which i think they will by the time 2.0 comes out, people will cry about the game being too hard when the ps3 verson finally comes out then SE will gimp everything so everyone can get everything in no time.

I'm sure I won't be the only one wanting to socialize on my own server. Besides, I can't really make any bonds with people who don't want to bond right now either. I've done some parties with people after the merge, most of which have been 'mute' as people either don't care to respond or just chit-chat while waiting for the party to form. From my own experience, it's not like right now random people care much about the social aspect beside getting into the party, grinding levels or content, leaving the party - and at least 5 out of the 8 won't say anything besides (Hello!) and (Thank you!)(Party)(See you again!). There's exceptions of course, and those kind of people are the ones I'm interested in within the community. I'd like to think the same kind of people would be found on the server post-content finder, if we ever get one.

I don't really consider it to have an 'organic' feel if I know about someone who I partied with but who never spoke or interacted with any of the other 7 players in a party. Really have no use or benefit to me seeing that person day in - day out running around Ul'dah and if I happen to party with them again still say nothing. But that's perhaps just me. . . .

As someone who accepts pickup shouts a lot for content rather than having an ls...I don't care if the people are from another server. Although studies show content finder will cause dalamud to impact us faster and harder.

Content finder or no content finder, from my server or not from my server...ultimately I'm still glaring at you for waking up my slept mob with all the intensity of a thousand suns and yes I do loathe your inner being D:
