The store is not getting out of hand especially for a mount of 4 people of which one is obtained from savage and the other is only obtained if you played during the end of Stormblood?

Yikes! I suppose it's at least account-wide, should've been a quest reward though.

I almost fell out of my chair when I saw Viera wear the Dirndl's Attire hat though?!

I expected the price to be a bit higher. For me its 29€ while moogle and whale mount are for 21€. Soo 8€ more for 2 more players to sit? Im fine with it.

I'm more surprised they got a variation of the chocobo carriage to even work. They had previously waved off any requests for a mount using that theme because of the limitations surrounding it.

Really nice looking mount, actually...cheaper than I expected.

Considering they mentioned potentially bringing the FF15 event back, people can always wait to get a 4-seater mount for free.

That being said, between 20%(?) echo and the ability to out-gear the fight by nearly 30 ilvls due to it being last-tier, E4s is easier than ever these days. If someone wants to put in the work learning the mechanics, it's not hard to farm up a bunch of 4-seater mounts for people. I did it for a couple friends a few weekends ago with some PF people mixed in.

The price tag on the mogstation mount is basically a person paying for convenience of not spending time waiting (FF15) or learning an outdated, much easier to clear savage fight(E4s).

Same with the attire hat, it sits on the head the same way many event hats do but only the one that costs real money works (for Viera, Hrothgar hat doesn't work at all). Funny that :rolleyes:

Honestly? I've always found the prices of the cash shop exaggerated. But since people keep buying the stuff in the shop regardless, I guess SE will keep exploiting this.

Price seems fine to me, it's a cosmetic mount that has no effect or advantage on gameplay. It doesn't take anything from anybody who doesn't buy it, so there's not really any reason to be upset.
Like all new items on the store you can think of it as donating some money to help your favorite MMO keep going strong, while getting a cool cosmetic item in the process.

Eh, the prices are still a lot less than what certain other MMO's are charging. Especially when you factor in the simple fact that some of them don't even sell items outright and are only selling the chance to acquire a particular item via lootboxes.

I'm not anti cash shop but the hoops people will jump through to justify it are staggering.

I mean technically we do have confirmation that the Mogstation sales go directly back into the game and are the only source of revenue that does so. Subscriptions and expansion sales are filtered back to SE proper before being divided across multiple projects, FF14 included. So they're not technically wrong in the slightest.

Now whether or not you feel that a $35 mount is WORTH it to buy or ethically okay to even sell in the first place is another matter entirely. Personally it and most of the Mogstation items are too pricey for me, so I'll likely wait for another sale before even considering it.

Oh but it does, you'd be shocked to know how much the overhead on an MMORPG like this is. The box fee and subs cover the barest amount of the game. The store items, especially the fantasia cover all the extras.

It's a vanity shop item that's also account wide - the cost is reasonable and at least (some of) the purchase price goes to continued development of the game.

It wouldn't be so bad if they weren't also perfectly happy admitting they have designers and modelers working in their unpaid free time to do things like make glowing primal weapons, making sure Viera and Hrothgar had some working head/face items and didn't launch in a completely trash state, and who knows what else we haven't heard about.

Unlikely they did that *on their free time*, as this was likely a PR move of them to make the new races halfway acceptable.

Imagine two new races with zero head pieces to wear, and with one of them being unable to even change haircuts without the use of fantasia. This place would riot, and with good reason.

Right, which is why saying so proudly they went behind Yoshi's back to do it in their free time is so bizarre to me. What am I supposed to take away from that? That Yoshida himself didn't care enough to make sure the new races had anything to wear on their heads? Or they're so strapped for cash the only possible way to make it work was through the devotion of the designers? I see people gobble it up and applaud it, but really looking at it that's anything but good PR to me.

Well you're getting to play the expansion you paid for, and your monthly sub is the service you pay for playing each month.
Optional items on the store are likely developed on the side, with the development cost being covered by the price of the item.

I agree that price is pretty steep. I saw it and wanted it but then I saw the price. Can’t exactly pay that price for a digital item. On top of that I’m getting really disappointed they still have yet to add Lyse’s outfit from from the end of Stormblood. I’ve waited patiently for it but we’ve been getting all the other scions or other characters outfits yet that one still hasn’t appeared. Don’t know how to get SE to finally add it to Mogstation. Been holding money just waiting for that outfit to come out.

People who work in videogames are already paid for doing what they are doing, Square should give the money for the achievements of FFXIV and not the users.

Yeah, and now they're giving me the privilege of buying one of the few working Viera hats! Never mind all the similarly sized/positioned event hats sitting invisible in my armoury chest, I get to buy one that works. Truly #BLESSED

And sorry it is true the proceeds go directly to XIV development, so while yes SE does absolutely profit from XIV having a cash shop that helps fuel development costs directly isn’t exactly a bad business practice whether you like it or not.

Is it expensive sure.. probably won’t buy it myself but im not going to say “it shouldn’t be that expensive” or take issue with the cash shop, im just not going yo buy it and continue playing the game like an adult.

What? Did you expect a free mount in a game you have to already pay sub for? I'm literally shaking. How can you be so entitled? Its a small indie studio, they need more funds to keep adding less and less content.

Perfect time to release a ridiculously priced Mount SE! I (and so many others) are practically swimming in cash after being furloughed, laid off or worse due to the worldwide pandemic ravaging most countries, and losing a huge chunk of my income makes it an even more enticing item to get! You was quick to remind us how patient and understanding we should be to help you take more time on patch 5.3 due to this pandemic, so thank you for repaying us like this In these dark, difficult times. It’s important to stand in solidarity with your fellow man, so how about seeing a whole server full of these premium mounts to remind us all that we’re all struggling in this financial catastrophe together.

Now I can’t wait to see the whales who have more money than sense and the bootlickers brigade hiss and spit at us poor plebeians for daring to criticise and mock how ridiculously bad taste the price and timing of this Mount being added to the store is. Yeah.... I mean, at least it's account wide. Seriously though, it does look well made and I hope it satisfies the people who have been wanting the carriage for years now. For me, that's just way too expensive and it also clearly falls into the category of giant obnoxious mounts I'd rather not have in the game in the first place, so if the price limits the number of them in the game world I guess that's not a terrible thing.
