I don't play drg often so i may be in the wrong here, but I think the timer should be reduce drastically to compensate for close range combat damage DD take. A change like this may go a long way at balancing melee with ranged DD.

Should come up with something better than telling others to make threads. Right now it looks like you're biased to one job.
I agree with the OP. The recast on this ability should be 30 seconds. It's basically Disengage in WoW.
i'd love to backflip more.. or maybe like super jump. i dunno just like jumping.
favorite thing to do is JUMP... Invigorate... combo up to that one ground jumpy thing, keen flurry and do it again. then dragon fire dive and backflip out of the fire. oh man.
As a Dragoon, I support this. Though I would say this thread should be in the lancer/dragoon catagory so we don't have to suffer posts about other jobs. /slaps War!
I agree that the CD on elusive jump is bonkers. I think it should be lowered to about 60-90s though since iirc it also lowers overall enmity right? I don't think anyone's got reducing enmity ability they can pop every 30s so that might be a bit much. Drg doesn't seem to be getting as much play as the other classes with this new content though, so giving them a 30s CD could really make it more appealing.
Or you could just post in the suggestions sub-forum, since you're, ya know...suggesting something.

General Discussion can be anything.. IMO no point to move.
if it were just a jump back, 60 seconds would put it in line with shoulder tackle and featherfoot. any lower is just stupid. and the fact that it's also an enmity dump complicates matters. chameleon is a 3min cd. and doesn't drg af boots cut a minute off the recast anyway? so you want an evasive maneuver on a lower cooldown than anything other melee get *while also working as an aggro dump*... and you have the nerve to talk about balance? ffs.
besides, jobs are already extremely balanced. not the devs fault players haven't figured this out yet
Really, though, this suggestion has the same problem as almost every one on these forums: You're offering a solution while barely (if at all) giving attention to the problem you're trying to remedy.
The issue here isn't that elusive jump has too long of a recast time, because anything you should be able to avoid using this ability, should also be able to evade by just running away. Your melee range is long, you don't have to be right up on the mob, and that alone gets you out of range of some AoEs.
The issue that it seems you are trying to suggest is that there is an imbalance between the risks of melee dps vs ranged, without the rewards. This problem has been brought up countless times and didn't require a new thread.
Why offer an opinion on a class/job you don't really play? The skill isn't about moving as much as it is about reducing enmity. It's perfect for boss fights and that's it. I think the timer is perfect and you already get a reduced timer with AF gear.
I WOULD like to see more movement skills for combat like a dodging ability. You know, to avoid moves quickly instead of running. But that's a whole mother topic...
If mnk should get any of Akumas moves it should be this one
Warrior just needs a epic DIVE ROLL! to the backside of a monster to avoid them frontal AOEs!
That or just give us some epic hiding skills to ditch the mob "Imagine the guy as a angry mob looking for someone to kill.

mnk should get their dash skill cooldown reduced too then. A DRG/LNC can hit a mob from a huge range, a MNK/PGL can't.

I disagree, Elusive Jump is simply your "Ohh crap!" button, getting you out of trouble if you do not watch yourself. Making it 30 seconds will let the Dragoon go all out without the worry of hate.
