The Hero's Gauntlet (mild spoiler maybe)

So has anybody talked about how the last two bosses might be teasing the next two classes.

The first boss was a Theif (NIN, already exists)
The second boss was a Necromancer
The third boss was a Berserker.

Berserker DPS?
Necromancer Healer?

Please, SE?

It's more likely they're not new classes, this has been discussed on Reddit quite a bit. It's believed the Nercomancer is basically a SMN and the Berserker is just a WAR by different names.

Also I've seen it mentioned that they're actually meant to reference past FF games - the Necromancer is actually Lenna from FFV, the Berserker one of the Onion Kids from FFIII and the Thief is Locke from FFVI, but your malmage may vary on that one.

Either way, SE has never teased new Jobs in dungeons before they're implemented so I don't expect them to start now (to say nothing Yoshi in the past outright stated ROG is already THF under a different name, and Berserker is just WAR). Anything is possible though I suppose, given what a mixed up crazy year this is.

Also, it's not gonna happen. Rogue is basically thief, warrior is basically berserker, and this game goes out of its way to say reanimating the dead is not good, so necro isn't happening.

Berserker is just a WAR with a sword.

They're clearly just meant to be alternate jobs on other shards. Which puts Necromancer in an awkward position.
If it ever became a real job, it would make this boss kinda weird.

Nah, I think they were just homages to past FF games and some character's jobs.
What's a more likely job is Chemist after focusing on that little cat girl, but that's even a BIG "maybe".

The thing that surprised me in Hero's Gauntlet was Titania helping out in the Il Mheg portion.

Feo Ul became the new Titania.

Thief and Berserker are just alternate versions of rogue/ninja and warrior. Necromancer is harder to pin down, but I don't think it's likely that Necromancer will be a class we get. Necromancy tends to involve defiling and controlling the dead, something the story has repeatedly shown is considered a straight up evil act. We have everything involving Edda and the Palace of the Dead, we have the Cardinal Virtues, which the Warrior of Light seeks to put down not just for the people of the first but to put the bodies to rest, and how the WoL is unhappy that Elidibus possesses Ardbert's corpse for his own ends, even having the dialogue option to tell him to release Ardbert's body.

Some may argue that the WoL has never shied away from stigmatized disciplines with Black Mage and Dark Knight, but neither of those classes involving inherently evil acts (assuming we accept that being destructive isn't "Inherently evil" in this scenario, every single class we learn is destructive, so it has to go beyond that). Black Mage was stigmatized for it's role in causing a calamity, but when practiced in moderation and without voidsent summoning, it's nothing evil. And Dark Knights are edgy, but they just gain strength from inner darkness and pain, and they use that power to protect what's important to them and right wrongs. There's nothing inherently evil about Dark Knight's power.

But Necromancy is about manipulation of the dead, and Eorzea clearly considers that sort of thing to be very evil. The only way I could see it even being a class was if it was purely about like life manipulation (perhaps you draw life energy from enemies to heal and support your allies, like a leech healer) without any corpse summoning or anything like that, but that would be more of a blood mage than a necromancer.

They normally wait until X.4 to start dropping job hints, so I'd hold back on the speculation until then.

Feo Ul became the new fae king, yes, but everywhere else they are still referred to as Feo Ul, including when they come to you in that same dungeon to open the portal after the first boss.

You aren't wrong, but that detour about medicine did stick out a lot considering Chemist has been one of the most requested healer jobs (and was the original planned healer class for HW)

The Tittymancer talks about how she is tainted and doesnt want to die "again". There is very little chance SE is gonna put a necromancer at the forefront of a hero story. This isn't Diablo, it's a Final Fantasy title.
Also, Necromancer healer? Does she heal? I havent seen her heal anything in my runs yet.

The sheer amount of potions the story beats into your face, even with Alisae saying it's a respectable way of combat, but not her style I would think would be a much stronger hint.

also copied the same stance as Artorias from Dark Souls. These are the DRK changes I would like to see. Imagine if Delirium changed your stance to these and you could spam Bloodspillers and Quietus. Ultimately these are all carbon copies of the Guts who pretty much made giant 2H swords a mainstream thing.

People always look at everything that remotely hints at something and to grasp at straws for no reason. They're model swaps with a weapon other classes are using, with the exception of Necromancer which we're not going to have since summons aren't even on the radar for design from the last several classes released. SE still hasn't released the XIV unique class yet which is likely in the next expac. Thief is especially ridiculous since it's just rogue but spelled differently. All anyone who screams about Thief needs to do is read a book, or open a dictionary.

It's not happening, and it will never happen on Thief/Berserker/Necromancer.

This reminds me when people were swearing up and down that Lyse was a dancer and they would get super mad when people pointed out that she was using monk moves and therefor... a monk. Like I remember reading one person getting so mad she literally screamed at someone saying something like. " LET ME DREAM!" Or something. Thing was... the person she screamed at was a monk main and was pointing to a video Mr.Happy did who also was a monk main. They were even naming moves from monks and pointing out it was the same animations lol.

My point in this is I feel like people are going to do the same thing here. When clearly none of those bosses are new jobs for many reasons. I dunno about the chick but I'm not holding my air on a nerco being in the game. The other two are just a warrior and ninja respectfully. The only hint I think is a hint is the miqo girl.

Titania is the Fae folk's name for their king. Every king of the Fae folk is Titania.

Feo Ul has shown up as Titania in at least a couple of other situations prior to this though, such as prior to entering Mt Gulg -- and this was a full blown cutscene with dialogue, so unless you were skipping it or otherwise just not paying attention to it...

The game also made it pretty clear that Titania is not the name of a specific entity but rather a title; pretty sure it explains that to you right after you beat the Titania fight and Feo Ul takes over the title in your stead, in fact.

Its full title is King Titania Feo Ul.

People referring them as Feo Ul is informal and to show a measure of closeness to them which the story does as well when it makes us their sapling. So using Feo Ul represents our bond to them and actually kinda sweet.

Yeah, Necro still feels like a real stretch to me. Necromancy is a thing in the world of FF14 but basically every mention of it or reference to it has been talking about how negative and unnatural it is. Heck, pretty much the entire Alchemist storyline is about that. Not saying that SE couldn't reverse course and change that but it feels like it would take a pretty big retcon to all of a sudden make necromancy okay.

But, let's say that they do, then... a healer? Again, SE can do what ever they want but what in that fight makes you think necro would be a healer? She literally summons the dead to explode on you and has a timed one hit kill effect on one of her attacks.

What would be cool, and honestly I doubt they would, but what if they added new jobs on top of old classes, the way Scholar and Summoner are.

Necromancer could be a Thaumaturge healer.
Theif could be a new Rogue job.
Bereserk could be a Marauder DPS Job.
Apothecary could be an Alchemist Healer Job.

... well if we turn professions into combat Jobs, Goldsmith into Pro-Wrestler because well Godfery is a god.

They also tend to be referred to as Titania when they're in their full size form. When in normal pixie form, i don't think i've ever seen the game use Titania.

Necromancy makes absolutely no sense as a Healer. Necromancy is animating corpses. What has that got to do with Healing allies?

We'd be more likely to see a Shaman type healer, calling on the spirits of the departed and/or ancestors to aid the living.

I'd also like to point out that we've had Necromancy shown through Edda and again through Alaqa in the WHM Job story.

I also think there was a lot in this patch to tease people, saying that they know what people talk about, which of course means that people will speculate like we are doing right now!
Apothecary/Chemist is one that comes up all the time as a healer class, and having that show up, with a brand new character in a world we technically have no need to be in any more was an unusual direction, unless she was just a throwaway character, but that seems...wasteful if that was the case.

As for the bosses, they are all throwbacks from some of the previous Final Fantasy game designs, which was a prelude for the Warrior of Light's appearance.
Something I like to think about is that how Hildibrand gets summoned from time to time in the Hero's Gauntlet, confirming he is indeed a hero beyond his own self-proclamations!

It might be a reach but do you think the 1st boss "Spectral Thief" kinda reminds you of Locke Cole from VI ?

the only new class teased was chemist in the little M'iqote's story at the beginning of patch 5.3. The Necromancer is a reference to Lenna FFV and the thief is a reference to Locke. The Berserker is probably a reference to Bartz as a berserker. I'm not sure on that one but all 3 are just references to jobs in FFV.

They were all just a nostalgia trip up to the trial

Where did you pull the bezerker being one of the onion kids from?

People are stretching so far they're basically at the top of the tree.

The final boss is basically a warrior, necromancer will...again.
Will never happen, you're using the dead to do your bidding. It will never be acceptable in the world of FFXIV, people need to stop using different games lore to try to make it work in FF.
(Not to mention it'll basically be a pet job, which I heard anyway. Yoshi will never do again.)

This is FFXIV and it has always been a no no and about every person that has used the dead was evil in this game.
What does the WoL look like using the dead to fight for him/her?

This game is pretty strict on lore and how they want the WoL to appear.
Btw, don't get me wrong. I personally wouldn't mind this job as its not like you couldn't play one on FF before. But you could also play a thief and look what happened to that?
Don't get your hopes up people. Its just a boss in a dgn.
