I have to say, I'm not entirely a big fan of it. Both in looks and function, but I'd like to hear some thoughts of others on here.
Not sure what it is about it, but it's ..just not up my alley.
What's everyone thought on the new redesign?

Seems much easier to navigate. Haven't checked it for functionality yet but I like it.
I'm unsure if it'll ALWAYS do this, but .. You have to log in so many times.
1. to the mog station
2. When you put something in your cart
3. When you choose payment method.
Also there doesn't seem to be a way to get back from the 'payment method' screen except for the grey 'back' button at the bottom, which only takes you so far before giving an error and THEN you get back to the main store page.
This kind of annoyed me...
Can only speak for mobileview so far, but I find it... strange. As a German I'd even say "gewöhnungsbedürftig" a ka I need to get used to this.
I prefer all categories being listed in an instantly visible area, thus the design triggers my skepticism when I have to click more buttons than necessary. Not as annoying for me as Wix' Eclipse for DeviantArt, of course, yet I'm definitely glad I I rarely use the store.
So that's all they did was change up the look they didn't add any new items? Personally I'm not a fan of it I waited for new stuff not a new site I'm disappointed
Normally on a store I can open up items in a new tab. I still can't do that here which is annoying.
I think it's okay.
It's just weird having it separate from the rest of the Mogstation.
I wish they'd add an option to buy separate items from sets... >w>
The new website is fine. It is just extremely uncanny to have the items shop separated with your account subscription management page now.
back button doesn't make it freak out. So yah, a million times better.
A better way to look at things I'm not gonna buy. :D It is an improvement imo.
i just took a look I'm kinda meha about it its alot like shopping online for outfits like the old killerdolls website
It's a much needed redesign, feels a bit more up to date and not having to log in is a nice feature.
Still more practicable with preview but... it doesn't change a lot for me. I'm mostly waiting items to be account wide :p
Definitely makes it more convenient to browse but everyone I've talked to who tried to buy something this morning was upset at the number of log ins required to get it done.
It's a step in the right direction but it's still rather dated. It's also displaying prices in $ rather than £ for some reason...
Personally I'd like the side scroll arrows to pull over an entire section of items at a time instead of one (similar to how netflix does it). Being able to open in a new tab is a must at this point as others have said.
Top right corner seems to have a dropdown to change location if it's defaulting to the US version for you.
For me it displays in GBP rather than USD. Heck, even when I click on The Lodestone symbol at the top of this page it takes me to eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone rather than na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone and I'm in Canada. So I think their algorithms might need a bit of work.
It's displaying £ for me now. Logging in and out a few times seems to register the correct region by default.
for buying new things, yes an improvement but where can I check my days left, add a time card and such now? I am lost
I will miss the bent over moogle showing us its butthole...
New site is infinitely better imo. The layout is superior. The categories are far better. And viewing the content is far faster, and the back button works <3.
Unsure about actually purchasing anything though.
I love the look, but the logging in a ton of times is annoying. I hope thats just a bug or something.
You still go to the mogstation.com for that. This is just for the cash shop items and if logged in on the mogstation selecting the Optional Items button takes you to the new cash shop page.
For me, there are two sides to this:
1: The interface seems genuinely more user-friendly, at least for mobile users. HOWEVER...
2: I find it just a little bit worrying that they would make a separate store site just for the cash shop in the game. I mean like, previously the optional items thing felt like a sidetracked extension of the game, due to it being part of the mogstation service, but now they're devoting extra resources just to market the microtransactions. With weird sales pitches like "RECOMMENDED ITEMS" or "MUST-BUYS", no less. Like I said, it's... worrying.
Nah they are just sensationalizing. If you don't like mogstation items, don't buy them. it's that simple.
Also I have never, not once, seen someone who makes this claim come with proof that glamour items have been removed from the game or are coming at lower frequencies. We still get a new glamour set per patch, we still get the same amunt of new dungeon items(which will change due to the thankful removal of dungeons in future and likely be implemented a different way), we got the ishgard items, which has actually been more than Stormblood Doman items. I could go on.
But at the end of the day, if you want to make these claims that the mogstation is hurting the game, you are the ones who need to make the research and stats happen. You need to provide evidence.
Because all I've seen is that is has given us the EU servers, it has given us things like cross world, and world visit, and more high profile collabs in alliance raids. Give me proof!
The new Mogstation is literally worlds ahead of the old one. It's nice and easy to use and intuitive. Really nice work SE. Between this and the launcher I really appreciate you updating these old antiquated systems!
The old mogstation was always really frustrating to browse, this one is so clean and usable
I love it :D
The new mogstation website is tenfold better, A LOT better.
It's not necessarily bad but it feels a little too similar to the old one. Still some missing features like no search. I hope this new version means a more stable starting point for more actual changes and improvements in the future.
The name also feels a little weird to me for some reason. Not that MogStation was all that great but the name being "Final Fantasy 14 Online Store" tells me they should have all sorts of goods related to FF14 and not just in game stuff. I know SE has their own store for statues, plushies, etc. but some part of me feels like The FF14 Online Store should include those as well.
Sensationalizing? Perhaps so. As a matter of fact, I hope you're right.
However, to set the record straight, I never said I was against cash shop items in this game. I've spent quite a lot of money on them actually (https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...2054218/mount/ for proof, and that's just the mounts) and not once has there been any sort of buyer's remorse.
What I am saying is I am a little worried that this may mark the beginning of greater focus on microtransactions. Emphasis on "a little worried" and "may", as opposed to "100% sure" and "will". There is a difference, and it's not a small one.
Browsing it is much better, the categories are better too!
I just wish they let us open multiple tabs of items down the line.
As far as I know, I'm allowed to worry whenever I feel like it.
Microtransactions are a huge thing in today's gaming market, so it's only natural to be cautious. Furthermore, that good ol' "it's just cosmetics" argument hasn't been a proper argument for ages because, to mirror someone who posted before me, if all the cool-looking stuff ended up in the cash shop, it'd be just as bad as having the strongest gear in there, for there are probably just as many glamour-focused people in the game as there are stats-focused people.
It's all a matter of perspective.
2 major issues since it's launch. No back button compatibility and no open in new tab.
Guess they fixed one of those major problems. Still we live in 2020 and this is no where near that. Same goes for in game UI functions
More serious thoughts now that I've browsed it more.... I do appreciate that the back button on my browser works now, but I am stuff frustrated that I still can't use control+click (I browse on a Mac) to open the page for items in a new window. I usually do that when browsing a site to get a better look at an item without losing my place on the product main page.
