100 hidden gorge wins

Has any of you completed the 100 wins?
It took me a very long time to get to 50 wins, and my weekly win ratio is 27.2%.
I feel like it's really impossible unless by some miracle I end up in the team that actually plays to win, and not just for tomes.

Yes, I am frustrated.
I need tips to improve my win ratio Dx.

Statistically speaking, on average it should take 200 matches, which isn't so bad.

I don't share this to boast, so much as to say it is quite possible for a single individual in RW or FL to make a big difference, even if you always solo queue (like I do). RW is largely a strategic affair.

In my opinion the three key things that make you win:

1) Map awareness
Be keenly aware of what is going on the map in terms of where your team is, who is on the offence and defence in key areas, what are the objective timers. You have to be dynamic and be willing to constantly reposition. Being good at objectives is key; know how to bully people at mercs, at the train, know when a fight is a lost cause and get out.

2) Support your mechs, mercs, mammets and gobtanks (and cannons)
Know how each mech is used. Chip down enemy vehicles and protect your own. If no one is meching up, mech up yourself. Know how to play them all. Don't suicide your CCs or BJs needlessly, and know where to implement them. CCs for example are not very useful around enemy towers, but they are good at protecting your own towers or your opps. Of course, rules exist to be broken, and sometimes suiciding a BJ on the enemy core is the right call.

3) Make good use of your time
Going with the first point, got to evaluate what really is important at a given time on a map. Like, I am sure you can chase that poor enemy bard under her tower... but you really should see if you could be doing something constructive like helping to push your mammets, taking the merc, gather ceruleum if you need it, etc.

As someone who is almost always playing tank if not a healer, it brings me great joy when like 10 ppl are being idiots and chasing me around our tower. That's 10 people doing nothing constructive with their time while 23 other people on my team are probably ransacking their tower. Similarly, as a tank, at the start I will often block a lot of ceruleum pick-ups at the start, even if I can't get them myself, since it just wastes a lot of enemy time and forestalls their operations. If 5 people want to chase me around and achieve nothing that's fine by me.


Just a little advice. For the most part team composition doesn't matter too much in RW and you can play your best job here. A balanced composition is less important here than other PvP modes due to the strength of mechs and map mechanics. Everyone has something useful they can be doing.

I used to play LoL a lot before I started playing FFXIV, so my map awareness skills are pretty sharp.
However, even when I do call outs, people do NOTHING. I have to pop return if I'm pushing, and go there myself or else people leave Oppressors alone until we lose.

I had someone tell us "It's just a game" when we were doing callouts in a game, and we were apparently "taking it too seriously".
I respect you paying your sub to earn tomes, and having that lame mentality towards winning. But you are apparently not considering our time, and money spent playing this game.

Your team wants to win? Be a team player. Your team wants to lose? Fine. Don't tell me I'm taking it too seriously because I'm playing PVP to win.

Some games people don't listen. Some games the people shotcalling are making bad shotcalls. Sometimes people seem to get the idea enough and you don't need to say anything; most of the time I just have to call out objective times or warn of enemy pushes but that aside it's not so bad.

Anyway, that just sounds like some select bad experiences. We all get them sometimes. Don't think that's fair to say how it goes. In order for you to have lost, someone had to win, and while you can get lucky after over a hundred games you have to start to look inside to see about how you can improve. In general I think learning how to function with people who don't collaborate well is just kind of a life thing you have to learn. It's not fair but it's what you have to do to increase your likelihood of success.

Idk, to me it seems like most of the time they won't listen.
I had someone tell me they were busy "pvp"ing so they didn't see my calls in chat. I was like What?
It's always some excuse or the other, played 4 more matches, lost 3 won 1, so still at 25%.

Sadly a lot of people seem to only queue for PvP because its easy exp/tomes and right now moogle tomestones on top of that... So yeah, they wont listen, they wont improve, they're often not even in that content because they want to play this content but because they think its the best way to get exp/tomestones. Often enough they dont really understand what they have to do either - there are quite a few frontline-modie where the objectives are much more important than killing people, but you have your teammates blindely charging in, with everyone trying to kill a different target because they dont understand or dont care about the win and just their kill-count or something.

Not much you can do about it in the end...
Not enough people were playing PvP and we had hour long queuetimes (but mostly people who wanted to PvP), so they tried to get more people to try PvP by adding all those incentives and now we have better queuetimes but worse matches... in my experience praying is the best way - praying, call outs as long as people listen and if they dont: Try to approach a zen-like status for the rest of the match, dont let it bother you to much and start praying for the next round...

On top of what Vidu already pointed out is good to remember that this kind of stuff is better to do it at release. You know, when people that actually care about winning is playing.

I played fiveish matches and lost every single one. Only one of them even felt close. Interesting map, but I'm convinced PvP in this game is just terrible and gonna stay that way. Unfortunately.

Editing to add my disappointment is based on dozens of Frontline matches before even trying this map since I realize five is like nothing :p my winrate has tanked well below 33% since forced Frontline, and I've seen more second place teams feed a free win to first by tunneling last to make me sick of even queuing up at all.

I think this is the biggest advice for pvp.

If you as 1 person can cause 5 (or more) people to stop what they're doing and focus on you, you're assisting your team very well. Granted, your teammates can't be the ones 5v1 someone else as well.

As an aside, on the whole "people don't listen to me" thing.

This is a valid reason to upset with PvP, though not really a valid reason why someone would have a bad winrate unless you are extraordinarily unlucky. Sometimes, yes, you will get rolled by a better coordinated team. However, while you can get bad luck with maybe a handful of games in a row, when we are talking 100+ games it's hard to say people not cooperating is why you have a <50% winrate, since you are being randomly matched with a lot of those same people who just beat you. You are making up about 4% of the force, and everyone in your team is responsible for making sure at least one of you are in a mech and that person is supplied with fuel. However, you might have to play well enough to compensate for 10%+ of your team's strength if you want to carry. The enemy team will on average have the same weight to carry, meaning the people who perform on their team were better able to leverage that weight. It's part of the game regardless of the level of interest of participants. Especially people who solo queue successfully regularly.

For everyone with a negative winrate, there's someone with a positive winrate... If they are solo queue, they have all the same limitations and restrictions as you do. They are just playing better and working better within the constraints given.

PvP is kind of a mess because sadly are large amount of people only queue for the rewards and win or lose they get a reward. It sucks when you end up on a team like that and wish to try to win, and only be called a try hard.

You can do everything in your power if no one is willing to listen then it will be an up hill battle sadly. Though for every loss someone is a winner so keep at it you will get groups that listen and others that do not.

Be easier than 100 Nadam wins anyway lol
