Housing change needs to happen.

I apologize if this is in the wrong section.

Players need to be able to kick/ban people from their houses. Square claims that they take harassment seriously so why do they not even permit us to keep our own player homes free from trolls and people who wish to harass or bully other members of the game community. It is frankly ridiculous and needs to be implemented like yesterday.

Days without new threads about housing: -100.

It's not the wrong section, but there are so many threads about housing already that I won't be surprised if your idea already was suggested by somebody else in one of them. Remember that developers themselves said that it's better to keep one big thread with suggestions for one theme instead of 10000000 small ones that will just vanish in all this mess without being ever noticed because thread with 1-2 comments somewhere on 100th page won't get their attention.

On the topic, I'm not sure how this can be implemented to prevent bullying entirely. It should be possible on a technical level to make the house impossible to enter for people in black list, but there is still a garden where they can just stalk you, and with this they probably couldn't do anything (and no, it's not a reason to add instanced housing, let's not even touch it here). There is also a chance, that is far from zero as some players' expirience shows, that harraser just will create alts, and unless your house is in Shirogane you're doomed to deal with eternal black listing then (depending on their... "dedication"). That said though, preventing people from BL from entering the house is still better than nothing at all and should work to a some extent.

You can lock your house from people who aren't your tenants.

That doesn't do anything about people already inside, yea sure it'll kick em out whenever they log back in but the amount of time between patches is lengthy and that's the only forced log out.

You're right actually. I didn't even think someone would stay in another person's home for an entire patch. That's pretty dedicated harassment. 0_0

Maybe GMs would be able to help.

I mean, at any point in that time you could simply report the player for harassment. If you get harassed so much that locking your house isn't enough then I wonder what you did to attract that much negative attention in the first place.

Pretty much this - If you dont have them as a tenant and change the lockout and ask them to leave and they persist, yeah, that would probably fall under harassment. Realistically the GM is gonna just pull the person to GM jail and thatll be that. As someone else mentioned though, thats a lot of dedication to leave your game running, not run any content, not turn off your computer, not lose internet by accident...that is pretty extreme.

You can only have a limited number of tenants though.
So, if you want to host a larger group of people over, you're screwed. :B
Maybe they could make it so people can't enter another player's personal house it that other player blacklisted them? (No clue what to do for FC houses though, plus people can just make a new character and delete them when they're blacklisted).

In most harrasment cases you don't need to do anything special to get negative attention. There are plenty of people who are just... I'm not sure how to phrase it correctly, but let's just say that most abusers and harassers either don't befriend logic at all or it's very twisted. They will find any small reason to bully you and the most dedicated can go as far as starting stalking you in real life if it's possible for them to do.

SE dosn't have a way to filter who can enter your house outside of the tenant list when your guest access is disabled.

If you really want to keep others out, turn off guest access. If you're hosting a gathering for a large number of friends, keep access turned off until they are outside your house then turn it on just long enough for them to get in.

Simply being in your house wouldn't be considered harassment. If they are doing things while they're in your house to specfically disrupt your game play, it *might* be considered harassment. The most you can do is open a ticket if someone is disrupting your game play and let the GMs decide.

But they're usually just looking for the attention. Ignore them and they get bored, looking for a new "victim" to upset.

Bury them in furniture so they're completely stuck, then blacklist them. Proceed to claim you're house is haunted and someone was buried in the walls during construction. Assert that you sometimes see a hand sticking out of the partitions you have in the corner and that you can hear an odd clicking at night, like someone jumping up and down in rage.

You can quite easilly walk through placed furnature.

How long are these people willing to stay inside the house without doing any duties or logging out?
Meeting any insane stalkers who dedicate their life to stalk you cannot be that common and those people you can just report anyway so the staff will take them into the prison which will also propably count as a duty so they are forced out of the house.

That's what most people do, and I don't blame them for this, but it's honestly a deeply twisted logic as well. "Bullying somebody else is okay as long as it's not me"/"I feel bad for them but at least it's not me" is an indirect assistance to abusers. It's harmful, because it does nothing to fix the issue. Not that it can be fixed completely, we should be real at this, but it doesn't mean that sitting in the corner and ignoring abusers so they can "change the victim" is fine.

Also, in more than half cases they don't change victim and only become more persistent (though I don't speak about FF14 specifcally in this particular sentence, more in general). Some people, even in FF14, try to ignore their harassers for months and years, blacklisting them to only see how they create another account/alt character, reporting them to see them coming back 2 weeks later even more annoying than before. And then again, as I said, some of them can go as far as moving their harassment and stalking to irl - it's not SE's work already at this point of course, I say it mostly to explain that no, just ignoring abuser is not a solution. It's sadly not as simple as it can look.

I wonder if it would work if the house owner just made the friends tenants one by one in order to let them in. Then there would be no risk of letting the harasser in as well.
