[Request] Move all token items to its own Currency tab

In the past SE did a good job by getting rid of beast-tribe currency items and moving them into Currency tab. Why not to expand same implementation on all of in-game token items?

There are a lot of such tokens from many types of content (raids, trials, relics, etc). By its nature they are "currency", you exchange them for other stuff. So you can have a clean and structured UI to navigate through them, rather than having them cloggering your inventory.

Why? Because a lot of those tokens stop having a use. Would be a lot of ui coding problems to add all of them to a currency window, when 90% of them are useless a patch or 2 later.


You can solve your inventory issue by throwing most of those out. I see a bunch of old crystaloids which you don't even need anymore...

It'd be a pretty neat change in terms of a quality of life feature.

They should probably just take out old raid currencies and make the items available for poetics, anyways. If they want to make people clear it first (even though they are walkovers unsynced) then they can just make it so you can't buy them until you've cleared it at least once.

This doesn't do anything about FATE drops and ex trial mounts but it would still help a lot.

Having the tokens clog up inventory discourages players from needing/greeding on tokens they won't use so other players who will use them can get them.

If you're soloing stuff, buy gear as you get the tokens to turn in for GC seals.

It'd be nice for quality of life to do this. Just make different currency tabs for expansion specific tabs or something similar to the reputation page breaking out beast tribes that way. Unless having two many currencies would set fire to the spaghetti code or something there's no downside to having them as currencies instead of clogging up inventory.

I feel like if things become antiquated so quickly in this game, they should design a better token/currency system for their raids so that we don't end up with a bunch of junk in our inventories. We of course can go through storage every so often and clear out outdated currency - but wouldn't it be swell if the system were smarter and didn't force us to have to do this in the first place? QoL elements/upgrades can be fantastic.

I’ve used my EX primal tokens a hell of a lot more recently than Sylph leafs or Vanu bones.

Freaking StB and ShB Beast Tribes with their useless currencies since once you buy the minion/furniture/mount that's pretty much the end of their usefulness.

At least ARR and HW tokens can be used for Relics if you have some left to do...

I think they'd have to rearrange all their shops if they switched raid tokens to being currencies.

Currently you have them divided up by DoW I, DoW II and DoM. The currency is "item trade".

If the items became currencies, I think the shop might have to be divided up by items bought with each currency. You'd have the headgear shop where you can spend headgear tokens and so on.

No, it could work just like beast tribe tokens.

I wish they'd make more of them discardable. I can't discard any of my eureka crystals, and some other things. I don't want or need them anymore.

You hanging on to a bunch of worthless garbage is kind of your own problem.

If that's a direct reply to my post... no, it won't necessarily be just like beast tribe tokens, because the tribes only give out one type of currency, and the tribe vendor only deals in that one specific currency to sell everything from crafting materials to mounts and minions or even glamour items.

I don't think we have any example of a single shop interface taking multiple currencies unless it is trading inventory items.

So you'd select say Deltascape, then get greeted to that nested menu with which currency you wanna spend. For me, that seems like it'd work well. Potentially do the same for Savage with those books. Perhaps change the names up a bit, but that sounds like it could work. I actually like how that works tbh.

I'd be satisfied if it was at least the items that automatically drop right into your inventory, like the weapon tokens or alliance raid coins.

So, yet another deep-rooted issue with how the game handles inventory. Keep the raid tokens as inventory items, and the system doesn't care how many you have or not because your bag size is the same regardless. Turn them into currencies and you have more data to carry with you at all times.

why are you carrying 1 of every token in the game, almost all of those are completely useless now.

From the way its worded the issue seems to be having many currencies to keep track of. If that is what causes the problem they can work around it by consolidating into one currency. Someone mentioned Poetics before. They could also use the achievements system, or the Calamity Salvager (buy things for a small amount of gil).

Yeah, they could converge the older currencies into say an Antiquated Allagan Belt for belts for example, Antiquated Allagan Headpiece for the headpiece etc, Antiquated Allagan Coin for the coins for the older 24-man raids, etc. Stuff like that. That could be another way to do it. Then, similar to the way that older tomestone currencies are deprecated, at some point, merge older token currencies into the Antiquated Allagan currencies.

What if they condensed tokens from similar types of content and expansions into one type of token then added them to the currency tab?
So each expansion would have its own 8-man Raid currencies (both normal and Savage), 24-man Raid currency, and Trial currency (sans special ones like the Monster Hunter Trial).
Harder/Higher iLevel content would give more of that token.
For Trial mounts you can buy with 99 tokens, maybe you'll need a certain drop from the Trial in addition to the Tokens (the item could have a higher chance of dropping then the mount or maybe just always drops in the chest).

Better question is... Why wasn't it a currency to start?

I never understand why people like this seem to always be against making nice QoL changes to the game. With your way of thinking, lets just move everything under currency to inventory items. It's on you to deal with inventory management.

Option 2 would be to remove some of the "Key Items" slots and just change those into currency slots. You rarely use more than 10 of those slots of the total 105 slots available.

It would make sense to retire some of the older currencies and just algamate them into a single currency, I mean why have 5 beast tribe quest items when you could just simply algamate them all into a single beast tribe currency, that would significantly consolidate and reduce data. Just have the latest beast tribe quests be seperate then algamate them once the next expansion comes out or on the x.1 patch.

Same goes for older trial quests just retire the old tokens in favour of a single token after the newest expansion launches and add a token bonus for completing a new instance, would get people to help newer people farm or clear them to.

They explained why it's not a currency in the interview I linked. It's a data issue.

It's also probably to do with rolling for loot. You can't roll for currency; you just receive it. It needs to be an item so people can roll on it.

And apparently those key item slots don't really "exist" in the same way that our main inventory does. I'm not clear on how it works, but I think it might have been that key items are more just switched on and off according to your current quest, and appear in that tab but don't take up space the same way?

With the interview, I only double down on my suggestion to take old raid currencies out of the game and make the items from them available for poetics. If they are competitive with the poetic gear for that expansion, then make it so you have to clear the raid series before you can buy them. Everything else is inferior to poetic gear and people only want it for glamour so it's a bit petty to care at this point.

For current raid tier, I suggest getting rid of individual drops for the gear slots and just simplify them to weapon tokens and armour tokens.

I would love that personally! The only 'downside' I can think of would be on SE's end. If they no longer have the tokens for each slot, it would take less time for people to complete their gear and possibly unsub sooner.

With that said, I'd still rather see all of the tokens make it onto the currency tab at some point. Maybe rework raid tokens so that the current raid will always use one specific token set, and then all of the older raids can use a different token set. Could make a nice tidy tab that just has two columns showing the feet-weapon tokens. One for current raid, one for old.
