Divide the Firnament into three instances and make the fates/progress of the zone the same no matter which one you are in.
It would help prevent people from getting locked out, and would reduce lag.

We almost crashed our server with the last one so yeah I can get behind this idea.
It's possible those two elements (multiple instances and a consistent progress bar) are mutually exclusive, particularly since it seems an obvious solution to congestion - and one that they have implemented in this very patch to keep Rak'tika less crowded.
Those multiple instances seem to behave separately for the purpose of hunt mark locations and spawn timers, so it might not be possible for multiple instances to share a progress bar.
Instances would help out a lot in there. Every time try craft in there my skills get paused and some times my crafting macros don't work right from lag in there.
Yeah they really need to add instances to Firmament, it's probably the #1 reason we have login queues in the game too but that won't solve that problem, the AFKs in other parts of the game (looking at you Limsa) need to be handled.
In-fact they should instances back to Eulmore as well.
A day after the patch YoshiP came out with that letter saying they did not want to resort to server-only but they could lock it down if they felt conditions warranted it. Obviously they pulled the trigger. This tends to be the way they roll out new things if you've been around for years, not getting too restrictive at-first. Not always the best idea of course.
Regardless, they need to make instances here and in more areas of the game.
Personally my only issue is the noise. I just want to mute other players’ crafting actions.
