Ishgardian Restoration events

Once again, every single one of these is taking place at times when U.S. players in the Pacific timezone cannot take part. Every. Single. One.

Could you just put in 24 events per cycle, & rotate through which hour they occur (or better yet 48 or some other multiple)? Is that REALLY SO HARD to conceive of?

As far as I know, the event Fire as soon as the gauge is filled. Its different than it was before :|

Yeah, I didn't get any turn in on our last one even though it started as soon as I appeared in Firmament. There was so much lag and so many people in the way that even after I broke a node, I couldn't see the one I was supposed to pick up. It was terrible.

There's a grace period of 30 minutes between the bar filling up and the event starting. Filling the bar takes way too long though. At the current rate on my server it would take about 40 hours to completely fill it up (as estimated by measuring the rate of advance over about an hour). It undoubtedly varies over the day, so it's difficult to estimate when the event starts until the bar is almost complete.

There's really only two ways to go about events like this. The first is to make the fill-up effort low enough that the event occurs several times per day. That ensures most people will get a chance at a time when they're not sleeping or working. The second way is to orchestrate the event start times so they occur at times when people are likely to be playing on each region. In this case there should also be a long warning period to let players schedule their other activities if necessary.

The way ours on Faerie is filling today, I don't think we'll get another event this weekend - which means the odds of it happening when people still having to go to work can be on is very low. *sigh*

There needs to be a longer timer for when its ready, idm waking up earlier or hurry to the pc if i can during the day, but having 0 chance of planning is unfair. Basically we are supposed to no life till its done? If thats the case they should not hand out the 500 tokken on that >_>

It's been a joke on Mateus so far, with both Concerted Efforts taking place in the 2-4 am timeframe.

It's the same BS like in phase 1. Whoever thought it would be a good idea to host "hit it or miss it / once in a lifetime"-events in a MMO where you have to to be ready the second it starts or you have missed it forever? I hate it and I don't know why they haven't learned from the previous stage. At least make those fates accessible for like 24 hours so that people who need to work or sleep have the chance to participate too.

It would be so simple: Just set a timer of 24 hours once the fate started and everyone who participats in it for like 10 minutes will get gold and the reward at the end of it.

Yeah it's even worse than last time. And the site is not up to date either so you can't keep track unless you live in Firmament (but out of Diadem, so gatherers are screwed) and never sleep.
I looked at the website when I got up and it marked that the fate was yet to be done, instead I logged and it had been done already 6h before.

At least last time we had a few hours before it popped, now it's just 30mins after. Basically, don't hold any hope of ever getting into one unless you're super lucky.

It's not their fault though. They could just hold back the fate once it's complete, for a bit.

They do. Its hours after the bar is filled before the FATE starts. They even tell you when it will start once it is filled.

It seems that every fate isnt the same(both in terms of content and timings). Monday night our server triggered the sweeping fate and it went off about an hour before maintenance(i got home from work 10 mins before it started, so i couldnt tell you for sure the timer on it). The place was a mad house, as you would expect. We finished, the confetti went off, a few dozen players got level ups, and there was a message that the next fate would spawn in 8 hours. Sure enough, a little after 9am the next one started. The place was still crazy busy. This time when the confetti went off, we were told to contribute items while the NPCs planned the next phase.

It's 30mins after completion, which is not really hours.
Then it repeats 8h after, but I meant the first one. Anyway the second one seems to always be at 2am on our server.

So there are two types of FATEs, the first one is after the bar fills up, this happens on single phases, such as the Mattock Phase 1, The Mattock Phase 2, these go 30 minutes after the bar is completely filled up.
Then there are First and last shift FATEs, such as the Mattock phase 3 first shift, and the mattock phase 3 last shift. The first shift happens like all other phases once the bar is complete 30 minutes after the FATE goes, then for the last phase FATE it's just 8 hours AFTER the first phase ends, there is no extra bar filling required.

I believe the timer was actually lowered for complete phases and first shift phases from the first set of Ishgard, from 3 hours to 30 minutes, due to the fact that 3 hours would cause people to go afk in the firmament and cause massive congestion.

As for progress, I dont really like how it's the same across every server, I would prefer to see some scaling now that servers are completely dependent on themselves for progress. (I dont think it's fair that lower pop servers have to work 3x more than higher pop servers and congested servers, makes the already tedious grind even more so)

Excal fired off at ~4:30AM EST for 1st shift, and then ~12:30PM for the second. So middle of the night and then in the middle of the work day for most of NA.

Really, really poorly planned event, AGAIN. Whoever designed this garbage should be fired.

It's a fault in design. It's not like player behavior is some wildly unpredictable variable.

As someone not participating, I am only irked that I'm missing the EXP. That's it. The actual concerted works themselves are nothing to write home about.

Yeah, that was also a huge pile of BS. We finished the bar in the evening and were happy we could finally participate in a FATE.. and then the next one was announced in the middle of the freakin' night, only a few hours before a work day. Really great timing, once again.

As someone who had crafters at Lv80 way before this round of restoration began (and missed the last round for other reasons), just how much EXP do the fates give? The collectable turn-ins do not exactly give a small amount of experience either, and the materials are practically free on the MB.

Actually I believe that forced 8-hour interval is specifically to allow more people to participate in the fate, and it's not intended that everyone is able to attend all shifts. If one shift occurs at an inconvenient time, then in 8 hours you're unlikely to be engaged at least in the same blocking activity. Though to be fair it should be three shifts in case the first is during the night and the second during the workday.

I don't know about this time because I caught 0 fates (even when I spend hours in Firmament it's in Diadem so I don't see anything), but if it's the same as the other time, it's a full level per fate, no matter what your level is.

Okay, a full level is a sizable amount. Still, I would like to offer some perspective with the crafted turn-ins which are always available.

The Lv70 turn-ins give 2 million EXP at the lowest tier (which is trivially attainable with basic gear) and 4 million EXP at the highest tier (which can be a challenge even with good gear). Levels between 71 and 80 require 12 million to 37 million EXP. That's between 6 and 18 crafts per level, assuming you only get enough collectability for the lowest tier. One craft takes half a minute with a macro, so that's between 3 and 9 minutes per level. The fates seem to take around 5 minutes to complete, so the effort required is similar.

Crafting requires materials. The fastest way to obtain them is from the market board. Up to Lv70 each item needs 15 Diadem materials, which are priced between 10-80 gil on my server. They also need one non-Diadem material, which can go for a couple thousand gil. That's maybe 2000-7000 gil total per item, or 12000-120000 gil per level. You can of course also gather the materials yourself, which is more effort but you get levels for your gatherers too.

Finally, don't forget that there's only maybe 20-30 fates available in this patch, but a total of 790 levels to obtain for your crafters. So doing some crafting to level up is inevitable. As such I don't consider missing out on the EXP rewards to be that big an issue. I'm more concerned that players won't get to experience the fates. While they may not be terribly glamorous, they still give a feeling of participating in the restoration. I would have liked for this to be more like the Doman Enclave reconstruction where each player was able to progress at their own pace.

Even now that the progress has slowed down a bit, they're nearly always taking place in the middle of the night for me.

It's the same on Excal. Super bad design. Unless the aim is to NOT have people participate.

So last phase the problem was TOO much participation (from server visits); this phase, too little. Fix one problem, create another.

There's still plenty of participation, even if it doesn't seem that way with the stockpiles requiring more contributions for completion. I don't see this as a problem. It means the content is going to last a good part of the 5.2 patch cycle instead of being completed in 5 days like it was last time.

I don't think the stockpiles require more contributions, I think contributions have slowed right down since the season rankings ended and everyone has already got what they want from scripts. Especially as it seems progress is very sporadic now. I've noticed it takes about 2-3 days to climb to about 70/80%, and then suddenly it surges late one night to clear that last 20% in a couple of hours. I'm guessing everyone is rushing to proc it while they're still on that evening, but don't quite make it, and it ends up procing in the middle of the night where only those with no real daytime commitments get a chance to do it.

The EU isn't that wide a range of time zones either, if it's in the middle of the night for me, it's also the middle of the night for everyone else, or at least very early morning.

They either need to give every stage an extra turn 8 hours later (which has only happened once this season) or even two extras 8 and 16 hours. Or put in more stages and significantly reduce the contributions required so they cycle round with more variety in timing.

I'll honestly be so glad when this "event" is over. It's so aggravating to log in multiple times per day to check on the progress, only to finally find out that you missed the fate by maybe as little as an hour. Worst limited time event in the history of FFXIV.
