Has anyone done the math on Skyward points?

So if you need 500k skyward points in each DoL and DoH to get the new mount at the current rate, if my math is correct, at level 80 that would be:

2858 turn ins per DoH at lowest collectability rating (175) for a total of 22858
625 turn ins per DoH at highest collectability rating (800) for a total of 5000

14286 Min and Bot turn ins for 28572 total at 35 per turn in, which is the highest you can currently get.

2858 turn ins for fish or 317 if you happen to get those 2 big fish worth 1580

This can't be right... please tell me I am missing something or my math is just completely wrong... I mean this grind is insanity if its true, esp if the only reward is a mount.

500k doesn't really seem too bad if after today people are already at 5-10k on each gatherer. Also need to keep in mind I think the Skyward points extends to phases even after this, so it's for the long haul.

Crafterwise, I think they pretty much are requiring to do expert crafts and get about the 5k-6k when turning in. Like with the gatherers, I think it's meant to be for the long haul so it's gonna be over the next year or so.

You also much consider that the 10k just today has day 1 factored in and there is a total of 1.5m points needed between the 3 gatherers so even if they are able to get 10k points every single day on each of the 3 gathering jobs, that is still 2 months and lots of hours of daily grinding.

Crafting is much worse seemings there is 4m worth of points needed total and the highest reward I saw was 800 for a green turn in with 6k collectability, which I assume is the expert ones.

Don't get me wrong, I am all for long term goals...but the reward needs to be worth it.

I was totally cool spending a year making a weapon in ffxi, since even 10 years later its still bis in many cases. But even if you can finish each craft at 6000 collectability in a minute, you are still looking at over 83 solid hours of crafting for a mount. And that doesnt factor in the gathering side either. It's kindda ridiculous.

Effort needs to be on par with rewards and this is clearly unbalanced in that regard. For instance, make the reward a house in Ishgard, and now we are talking about something much closer as being on par with effort.

If it were just a flat 500k total instead of 500k on 11 different jobs, that would be much more on par for a mount.

You can tell that it's a long term thing though from this. I don't think they would ever reward anything other than mounts/minions/titles/glamour from achievements anyway.

It's never meant to be done quickly and they probably want to keep people in Diadem so that it doesn't die, hence these kinds of things. Though I would not be surprised at all if they had to revamp it AGAIN for whatever reason.

But it's more likely to kill it since the reward/effort factor will drastically cut down the amount of people who participate. I was all about getting just 500k and likely would have on all 5 of my chars eventually if it were for a mount since that isn't really all the unrealistic. But 5.5m points consisting of hours of daily grinding for a mount? no thanks, I got 7k points today myself because I thought the mount sounded pretty neat, but I am already done after I did the math.

Like I said, I hope someone can prove me wrong on the math and I love having goals, but rewards needs to be on par with effort. These are the types of long term goals that just kill the enjoyment and want of having long term goals. If this is the best they can come up with, they need someone more creative in charge of this sortta thing.

The 500k achievements are cumulative, they're not time sensitive either, so you have forever to do them. Unless they remove Ishgard stuff entirely in the next expansion, you'll also be able to go back and easily grind them with new gear (e.g. macroable expert recipes for max collectability).

There's no need to go hardcore and rush them, it's just something to work towards for months.

There is a difference between a long term goal and this mindless grind. Honestly this reminds me of the horrible F2P Asia MMO grinds..getting a total of 500k for gatherers and 500k for crafters would still be quite the grind for anyone, even the hardcore crowd but much more reasonable. I am a bit shocked that they went that far here..all for one mount.

Someone that is doing this quite a bit might be done in some months but this is imo not doable for everyone else. Just the hours needed to grind for the mats and then the time needed to craft then (including the huge amount of crystals going into them). If you buy mats then you will need huge amount of gil too.

The problem is also that the older items got nerfed. Heck you cant even gather the old mats anymore. I hope that they keep the points as they are now and give us higher ones for the next steps but seeing how they nerfed the other ones? I really fear that each new step will nerf the old one into the ground. Which means that at the end only high end ones may be left and thus people will have to wait again until they are able to craft them.

Someone had almost 200k points on fisher in one day.
If you grind only for points and nothing else, it's very feasable.

now that is clearly a bot who is in diadem 24/7 unless fishing earns you far more points than botanist or miner.

fisher is also one of the easiest if you know what to do, the other? 10x longer

My last trip into diadem the fishers were all chatting. Apparently theres a fish thats worth like 1500 points(so 3k if you double hook). That could have been a bot, or it could just be someone who really loves fishing.

Fishing does indeed grant more points. Turn-ins for BTN/MNR start at 10 point for 10 items for the smallest items that grant points and cap out at 35 points for 10 items from the timed nodes. Fish start at 2 point per 1 item for the smallest one that grants points, and cap out at 1580 points for 1. The timed nodes grant 175 points per rare fish. You can gather BTN/MNR items a bit faster than you can get fish by fishing especially by killing mobs with the aethercannon, but it's not enough to offset the effect of good catches.

There are 2 fish worth 1580 points, idk if they are timed, mooched, or what. But considering that the 1 fish is worth roughly 45 individual min or btn turn ins but I would say since that is still over 120 fish if they got 200k that they can't be all the hard to come by, they are no lifing it, which isn't a feasible for all but a select and very small few, or like you said, they are botting. Which is only a problem this is going to exasperate.

And I cannot believe ppl are defending this...well yeah I can its the forums....but all I am asking for is for rewards to be at least somewhat on par with effort.

The big point fish are mooched but don't seem to have any time or weather restrictions. They're not common, but not super rare either.

In each of the four sky fishing locations there is one artisanal (white) fish. (It is always mooched - WRONG!!) Two are worth 1580, two are worth 150.

Edit: The 1580 fish are mooched. the 150 fish are straight catch. Using your GPs on identical cast and double hook you can get more points on the straight catch 150s than the mooched fish for the same time spent.

There is also one umbral (green) fish which is a weather dependent straight catch. they are worth 175.

Its easier to catch the mooched fish than the umbral fish.

Only two of the artisanal white fish are mooched. The 150 point ones are direct catches, but can be double hooked x3 and can be identical cast as well, which somewhat evens out their much lower payout. The 1580 fish are still the best ways to farm points, with the gobbie mask being the de facto winner of the bunch due to ease of isolating.

Yeah I decided this wasn't worth it when I did the math too, F2P MMOs did this nonsense back in the dark ages.

It wasn't fun then, and it is not fun now.

I'm sorry devs, but you all really need to respect the person's time because we rather not be hooked up to this game for this one thing like it is life-support (and some of us rather be playing other games).

Clearly the only reason why some people managed to top rank (excluding Fisher which is the easiest) is probably nefarious in nature or clearly they don't care about their own health.

i love those 500k achievements, they finally offer sth to do in the game. Whats the point of being done with ishgard within 1 week? Lots of people did about 1 mil pts in 1 week during the tournament. The ones that crafted/gathered 24/7 even hit 2m+. So 500k within 1 week is even possible when you have a job + normal sleep pattern

Personally, I'm only going for the phase 2 specific achievements for the time being, since it's possible the point gains in later phases might be higher and there'll likely be new achievements to grind out on top of the existing ones.

Been grinding out the botany one and it is becoming apparent that the min/bot 500k is much slower than I was expecting. Seems like 15k is the average amount you can get out of a 3 hour run (20k should be possible with luck and absolute laser focus on just one class's node). 50k on average is what you can expect from a 3 hour fishing run once you know what you're doing. For crafting, averaging somewhere between the 375 and 800 point turnin rate for about 500 points, and getting 50k per 3 hours seems to be average. Doing the math, you've got a surprisingly even split of about 240 hours to get 500k in all 8 crafters and another ~240 hours to get 500k in min/bot/fish. Based on my mat acquisition so far, I should actually have enough mats from getting the gathering achievements to fully supply the crafting achievements with little to hopefully no gil spent in mats (crystals on the other hand...)

My gameplan is 50k per day for crafters and 20-25k per day on min/bot, with extra time on weekends to average one crafter per week and one DoL per two weeks. Fisher was already done during ranking, and my hope is to be done with this within 100 days and before 5.3 without sacrificing too much of my life to this. It's a helluva grind, but mentor roulette and hunt mounts are much worse.
