More like Stiria And Nix concept i was hoping for.
And not Ryne.
You get exactly what you are looking for in the savage fight. Get to work.
I thought it was cool. :D:D:D
There's more to the fight in savage, just fyi! :D
I thought it was cool as hell but i'm also one of those people who doesn't pick apart movies for cliches and contrivances and just enjoys the ride.
Did you think you were posting on reddit or something?
love the fight, man, especially that end.
If only there was some sort of precedent that this game had a tendancy to have over the top anime style battle sequences
I think being edgy and asking someone to end your life over a video game fight is far more cringy than the fight itself.
do you realize that actually happen in savage, right? the form change
Same feeling here, the fight itself was nice and all but that last part... Uuugh.
Gaia is so bad of a character, she annoyed me beyond belief, every single word her ulgly designed mouth let free push even farther my despise of this character. Her face is unnerving, her dialogue are "too edgy for you, I'm so better than you I live in darkness gna gna gna I have no hope" damn it all, even Sasuke the crybaby can't touch that level of annoyance, I wanted to slap the hell out of her every time she had a word to spout and that fight end didn't redemed her for me, still hate her with every single fiber of my heart.
Ryne was annoying, that plan of her was stupid and came out of nowhere, like seriously why now it a problem and not before ? how is that even change anything or served any purpose outside of "it works".
The music was lame, so was E5, E6 and E7 was just a reused from precedent fight. The dungeon music was very disappointing too, very bad patch music wise.
And the worst being we will have to handle the too most anoying girl in the first for the 4 last round without any relief from other character and it already pain me.
P.S. : What with the "but savage" like everybody should already know what the E8 savage look like, for as much as I know it could be Ryne playing banjo with Gaia. It don't change the fact he found the normal mode lame as hell.
The cutscene is literally Uther in Ice crown citadel but with power of friendship.
Okay so was Gaia hitting the ice meant to be silent? I couldnt hear any hammer noise on my end no matter what settings i used and it was just weirdly quiet.
Windows or PS4? On Windows make sure the audio is set to "Stereo" and not "Surround". (Sound settings)

For a while I didn't have any voiced cutscenes so it's maybe the reason for your missing audio.
My only real complaint is that Gaia's face is hitting some uncanny valley notes to me. I can't quite put my finger on it, but she looks......off.
It is true to Nomura's art of her. Gaia's eyes and lips are very large in her concept art, even though Nomura's style usually has smaller eyes and :3 lips. I don't think he did a lot of research into the game itself though, seeing as how he gave her a hammer, and then added a note of apology later, because we had no hammers.
I'll say the first part of the fight in normal was great, the cutscene was fine, but what came after felt very short. Compared to the flow of the rest of the eden fights e8 feels like its missing something at the end.
Like it was very in your face missing something. People in party chat going "that's it?"
It was a very beautiful fight, mostly aesthetic imo. Redress was a super pretty mechanic. I loved it, from the art design to the music. I'm just sad we'll never get Ryne/Shiva's outfits. These are really gorgeous.
I agree though...The fights are fun but lately, I've been finding myself becoming more and more less interested in the story itself...Hell, I pretty much skipped through most of the cutscsnes in Eden this time around bceause I really don't care about the primals much and Gaia annoys the hell out of me. But then again, I'm not surprised seeing that she was designed by Nomura.
With a raid themed after FFVIII and Eden, I was totally expecting to actually fight enemies from that game along with some original bosses. The 3rd boss of the trial reminded me SOOOOOO much of the disaapointment I experienced when fighting Yu Yevon for the first time.
Dunno, i loved E8, the one i hated was E6. Flame Wingman was cool and all[and predictable] but the fight felt like an irritating chore than an actual fight xD
E8 had a solid soundtrack backing it up with a cinematic during the end etc felt nice, the mechanics were a little dull for the final fight of the tier but dunno.
I wouldnt call it lame IMHO
For me it was e7 which I thought was lame. Still I wish they didnt go the Byakko route for Shiva and the dragon. I felt that was a tad bit lazy but probably due to it being easier to make the model.
My problem is Ryne being the catalyst for the summon which for me kind of makes the fight less significant.
I liked the Zodiark-splitting stomp (Shattered World) she did instead of Shiva's heel click.
One thing that gets me about E8...
Square: Guys stop lewding Ryne she's like 15 years old...
Also, Square: Here's Ryne/Shiva sexualized and getting completely undressed in a raid...
I didn't like how pedophilish it was, but my main disappointment was that we didn't get to kill Ryne and Gaia.
I thought it was okay, I did enjoy it...
But the set up for E8 is pretty contrived and the gaia-comes-to-the-rescue is a little silly given she's know Ryne for what seems like only a couple days at most. The story definitely felt like it was written backwards from that intended ending and didn't quite justify why Ryne had to be Shiva in a believable way (which we all knew was going to go exactly this way) nor Gaia and Rynes sudden best-friendsness.
But I found it was okay overall. No doubt Gaias rescue cutscene will be annoying as fuck in a week or two though after running E8 ten or so times.
Overall I think I would have preferred a more emotional callback to heavensward based on our characters own relationship with Ysayle to what we got, but what we got wasn't terrible.
