Bring back exp chains

The game is essentially like ffxi merit party when grinding. Yes, people do form grind parties other than leves. With xp chains, there is a motivation to keep that chain going and to chastise that noob who broke chain #399. It makes people want to perform better rather than just spamming. Small things like missing a skillchain or magic burst, someone with crappy gear missing a lot, and a damage dealer not eating food actually matter.

Right now, nobody buys food because it doesn't matter. People just do whatever they want because it doesn't matter when most mobs, that's not an NM, die within 5-10 seconds with or without using weaponskills. It's good for people who envy the "elitists with big e-peens", but it makes the game very boring, and non-challenging. Catering to WoW players really ruined ffxiv. The best WoW players are the noobs nobody invites in ffxi, so they couldn't hit level 75 after so many years of shouting in jeuno and aht uhrgan and dealing with GMs.

I would enjoy seeing some kind of XP/SP Chain bonus. But with such things as Behest every hour, I think thats enough of a bonus to XP/SP to not add it in. And personally I do not think that just adding a Chain system would make food or gear more worth while or force people to learn proper party mechanics.

SP chain (Yes Please).

It will give a party a mini goal to work towards. It rewards skill, which is a good thing.

but again, it's necesary redo the fact that a mob, dies in 10 sec. With that, we will have infinite exp chain X_x

I would like to see exp chains as well, but not for any of the reasons you stated. Wow what a piss poor attitude, you must be horribly unhappy.

Skill chains I feel would go a good ways to bringing partys back into focus again outside leves. Just need to make it where you only get skill chains for killing harder mobs. tough + or something.

SP chains + either releasing a players guide to how the party search function works (since no one uses it) or go back to FFXI's method of seeking for party/members would help a lot to promote party play outside of guild leves.

One problem I find with FFXIV's current system is it really doesn't promote much socialization at all outside of your own linkshell/group of friends. Most likely if you do leves on a regular basis you are doing them with a set static group or soloing. Even doing Behest with random players you just say 'hello' in the beginning, some small chit chat sometimes in the 5 mins before start... then it's all business because you have to spam 1 1 1 1 1.

In FFXI when you were leveling to 75 you were interacting with new and different people almost every single day. And with auto-attack people actually had time to type in party.

Never mind the practical consideration that XP chaining has (ie. more XP) they were also fun; almost a minigame in and of themselves to see how high you could get it.

It also had the added bonus of keeping your grind parties going full steam ahead over several hours since you didn't want to lose chains. This meant fewer people were willing to AFK for long periods of time randomly.

I think SP/XP chains would work very well in bring'n the player base more towards grouped activities.

All SE would really need to do is adjust the claim system to allow "holding" a monster till it is ready to be fought, maybe adjust the territories of set monsters.

Yes please, sp/xp chain system would be very welcome. I would like something with chain levels like in XII where as you fight you will level up your chain, so killing some 7 mobs would take you to level 2, then another 15 would take you to level 3, and as long as you kept killing your chain level wouldn't fall back to 1, and with each level you get a little bonus to your sp/xp gains. :)

SP skill chains would be fantastic.

So there I was, doing a rank 40 leve with 4 people, 3 links, guardian aspect at 3 stars. 957 SP per kill.

The sp/exp chain system would really only work if they reduced sp/exp gains back to the way they were or less, lest everyone would be speeding through the game too fast. Sp gain is pretty much fast enough as it is without the chain system.

And... you want this as a reason to chastise people? cmon now... a reason for adding something into the game to instill rage in others is a very very bad reason.

SP Chain's and claiming two mobs at the same time go hand and hand. Being able to claim mulit mobs may pose a different situation however.

Mage burning will become more plausible, and I could see 5-6 mages AOEing a ton of mobs for easy/lazy SP.
However, for Guildleves, like come on...Why can't I claim two mobs at the same time that only I or someone in my pt can hit...seriously.

No SP/EXP chains would not be used in Leves only for mobs outside of leves that are even match or higher like it was in FFXI and it worked great.

They also need to reduce respawn times on mobs and put in more for all level ranges to make grind parties actually viable again though as SP/EXP chain won't be much good when you have to run a few min's to find your next mob.

You must not know where to grind if you're running around looking for mobs to kill.

Ok lets look at Raptors, you can kill them all before they have even begun to respawn and then have to run all over the area to find them. If SP/EXP chains were brought in you would not get very high because you would take to long running between them or waiting for them to respawn.

Again, you must not know where to grind if you're killing raptors. People in this game have "big number syndrome". Zomg 300sp per kill! Then run around for 5mins.

So there are other places to get more than 20k SP an hour in the mid 40's??? Please do tell, Pieste's, Drake's?

I don't suffer from big number syndrome I suffer from SP per hour syndrome and making sure I am getting the most out of my time.

Well, I didn't say you, but yes there are better places, and mobs that would own under EXP Chains. Since that's what were talking about here.

Any way I really want to here about these other camps that are better than Raptors for mid 40 parties and can yield more than 20k SP an hour with no running around, so please do tell I am genuinely interested because I will try them out tonight if they are really good. ^^

Hello. If we would have this system implemented, then we would have to redesign monster displacement, timing, difficulty, and the claiming feature.

Displacement: Reorganize monsters into a much more traverse pact in a multiple amount of area's so multiple groups can party effectively.

Timing: Respawn rates would need to be organized into longer delays so people don't just get +1000 chain.

Difficulty: This is not in level gap. Much more ferocious attack damage so it'll be legitimate for role displacement like Gladiator to tank.

Claiming feature: Would have to do away with the current feature and allow us to claim another target while the first is near death to allow the chain to progress rather than wither and die.

When someone said that all you would see is 5-6 mages pulling everything and nuking? No. Pulling multiple monsters would net you the same result as it did in XI. Death. Too much damage sustained.

Glad someone else realises that SP/EXP chains need more than just implementing. Also they would need to allow you to pull mobs further before returning to territory so that we can pull them to camp to be lined up for the next kill.

Also Scarface I'm still waiting to here about these super camps you know as I really want to try them out.

If we limit SP chain eligibility only to defeated mobs that are at least 5 ranks higher than you, and give an increased SP bonus for defeating mobs 10+ ranks higher than you, that will give people less reason to AOE spam trash mobs (which wouldn't even give that much SP for the effort anyway).

Yes. Thank you, Alexia. Didn't think of that. You can't very well keep it aggresive on you until you zone considering that these zones are exceptionally longer than the previous game's model. Also an option to call for help again would be nice.

Rentahamster you're absolutely right. As I've said in previous threads I've seen Coblyn's marked blue in the Nanawa Mines and then some that are marked yellow to red and they tend to give roughly a 60-80 SP difference? The color code system seems a bit lackey in this department. I remember an Easy Prey giving roughly 20-50 xp relative to a Tough giving you 200 xp when solo. Establishing levels like the dev team said they would be doing should help this problem.

Ok first off there are certain spots where mobs respawn fast and there is plenty of them other than coblyns/doblyns in the mines, and yes I form my grind parties. All you have to do is go on yg and look for mobs 10-15 ranks above your party.
Rank 12ish group - Northeast of camp bloodshore (jellyfish, flytraps, moles)
Rank 18-23ish - Coerthas- Southeast of camp glory (deer, wolf, humans), Humblearth - south of gridania (deer, mouse, crabs, bats, elementals)
Rank 24-27ish - Move up near Camp Dragonhead (deer, yarzon, puks, goblins hippocerf)
Rank 26-29ish - Camp Bald Knoll (Crabs, birds, mouse)
Rank 28-35ish - Mistbeard Cove (Efts, pudding, pirates, ahrimans, yarzons)
Rank 33-37ish - Bloodshore - east of camp bloodshore (Goats, Rats, flytraps), I suggest you leave the apkallu alone.
Rank 37-42 ish - Coerthas - north of zone to mor dhona (antelope stags)
Rank 44ish - raptors and deer near boulder down if you're brave enough. Surf Eft and birds in Zelma's Run.

So yeah, you don't have to be restricted to doing broken water leves to 50. That's not even a complete list since I hate exploring gridania area.

After thinking about this for a while, I would think that if they did implement this a safe way to avoid all these complaints over how if your group stinks you'll see less sp/hour than a great group, then maybe we should just limit it to a chain 5 and that's it. They could always expand this limit when further content comes out, but for now it'll keep things in perspective relative to your skills as a player.
