Hey I am doing research as to how people play this game! So I guess I want to hear what Rig you play on and the exact settings you play on, and don't lie I do not know why people tend to lie about how they play the game. I mean the settings they run it on. Lots of people say "I play this on Full man" meanwhile there is no way they possibly could. I guess I will begin. Oh please post FPS too. And FFXIV Benchmark Results. Screens are welcome. Thanks

I built this PC specially for FFXIV and I love it ^^ Was my first build too :)
The settings I run are the following now. Everything Maxed in FFXIV Config with Ambient Oclusion off, and Depth of Field off. General Draw quality at 10, and I overide the AA using my Nvidia Control Center and set it to 64X SLI. For some reason the SLI doesnt like the depth of field and slows it down soooooooo much. This is mostly because there is no real official SLI profile for FFXIV. There is one that came with the newest beta NVIDIA drivers, however the "famous SLI fix" still works better. I imagine its the Crysis profile cut and pasted over. DOF worked fine for me with one videocard. I get 60 Frames 98% of the time outside in the field, and I get 55-60 in Ul'dah depending on random stuff. On the benchmark I got 8483 on Low resolution, and 7364 on high resolution. I wanna know what others results are too please, and their frames.

and i play with everything on highest except AA and AO, which are turned off and in windowed mode at 1600*900 with 30-60 FPS most of the time. (it runs pretty much exactly the same when i play in full screen at 1080)

I just upgraded to this sweet Commodore 64C. I went the extra mile and got myself a 1541-II floppy disk drive. As if that wasnt enough, I spent the extra change getting myself this kick ass 1084S monitor running an S-Video connection. I can use this thing as a TV is I want!

dude nice funny thing is I actually had a comodore 64 it was an X86 lol with a 9.6 modem, and all the sierra games you could fit on that 2meg hard drive.

30 frames person is in Ul'dah I assume? And how do you like Kingston Memory?

My PC's getting a bit old, but it does everything I want it to. It's a Gateway.

Mobo: Don't remember
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 2.33GHz
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 4770 512mb
RAM: 8gb DDR2
PSU: Corsair 550w
HD: 600gb something or other (never checked)
Monitor: 22", 1680x1050
Mouse: Microsoft Comfort Optical Mouse 3000 (I hate the scroll wheel on this thing, but I like the button on the side)

FFXIV looks great and runs well. I tend to play in Windowed mode, size 1440x900 at the moment. No AA, standard general drawing quality, high background. Standard shadows, texture quality, and filtering. I don't remember messing with most of this stuff, so I'm not sure how my PC would handle if I upped the settings. Probably not well, but I can't complain.

I'm always meaning to just build one (since that's really the way to go), but I'll probably wait until I really want a new gaming PC or something.

I'll edit this post later with benchmark results when I get around to it.

yeah, I'm quite liking it.
and yes, for the most part i get 30 frames in uld.
i get that horrible stutter for a short while whenever i login in uld though.
and when I'm out at places like BW i usually have about 45-60 FPS

Nice yeah even on my Rig I get that stutter in uldah when I first log in or get there. I usually just stop running and let it do its thing lol.

Nothing on my computer is OC. I built this machine for mostly GD and WD since in my spare time I run a business called Wild Mounkey Graphics so I need the extra Ump... All together the tower cost me about 5k. Monitors, surroundsound, cords and all that good stuff cost me about another 6k. I upgrade when new things come out. Can't fall behind the trend now can we? I do not advise buying a G19 it was 170 dollars and was not worth it but the G13 is GREAT!! Hey point I still can't get my 3d working... It just don't look as good as you said the nVidia one looks :mad: I'd hate to have to switch over!:mad:

I run at max everything Ambient on, Draw Quality 10, BG Quality 5, 8xQ MSAA, Depth of Field on, pretty much everything on but when I turn Ambient off I get like 61 FPS (In Uldah). When it is on I get from 50-57FPS in Ul'dah and 61 FPS everywhere else... Though it does drop unexpectedly sometimes maybe cause out of all the money I spent on my baby I neglected a suitable wi-fi card :(

Point Zero how do you like your monitor? Was thinking about getting a few and setting up 3d with then.. but I haven't seen a demo and have heard mixed reviews about 3d in general. Whats your view? Do you think doing bigger 3d but using TVs like Gaven does is better or is nvidia 3d with your monitors the way to go?

LOL Point knows I'm no where near as good as him with this 3d GPX card mess I cant quite get it looking like reaaaaaal 3d. It looks ok but kinda hurts my eyes cause the glasses aren't very comfortable so i may have to buy new glasses :( I think Nvidia may be the way to go judging by points feedback...

Well to be honest I would look at more reviews there is a bit of light bleeding on mine. Thing is I dont know how others fair with the light bleeding. It is only annoying on all black screens. flatpanelshd.com or something like that does extensive research on this stuff it is a good place to look.

To be honest I dont know much about ATI HD3D or whatever its called lol.. I only know what I have experience with in this case. I would also look into that 6990 hasnt got the best reviews and you wont be able to crossfire it, you can only crossfire from the same series if the first card was a 6970 or a 6950 that would of worked. Maybe things have changed but I dont think so :(

As far as getting that Accoustimass 10 for 300 bucks that had to be off the back of a truck lol cause they 1k everywhere else I have seen them lol

Also here is some info on ATI HD3D I found which you should prolly read, because the nvidia glasses wont work for you.

OH WOW! just realized something /cry.... I dont think Gaven is going to be able to get full 120hz on those tvs. There are certain DLPs that do that but from everyone I had spoken to you can only get 60hz on tvs when a computer is hooked up to it. For example I had to use my DVI to get full 120hz on my monitor. HDMI capped out on 60hz... I will find the list of NVIDIA supported tvs sec :)

The Bose System bought from Best Buy on Black Friday but then again I did have employee discount as well. Me and my wife are working on the office right now I could snap a couple pics when were done my office is gonna look like a hackers haven by the end of the week 3 brand new monitors all wall mounted I can't wait to try the 3d I found out the monitors I was using wasn't 120 these new ones are I spent 500 a pop so they better be the shat! I read about your keyboard I have a spare keyboard if you want it in the garage.

If it was those 32" TV's you posted... they wont work :( Unless ATI is different but I doubt it. For me to get 120hz I needed to use DVI, the hdmi cables capped out at 60hz and I think anyways when hooking a computer up to a TV you are capped at 60hz. I know as far as NVIDIA goes only some Mitsubishi TV's are listed as compatible with 3D vision.
You could try these ones though... they should work and be pretty inexpensive.

I'm pissed evidentially they are on back order on amazon so I should have went to best buy 1700 for those joint my wife started laughing at me this morning. As far as it being capped I don't know whats some 120hz ones(They have to be 30 in plus though I love big screens)? I can use DVI ports also (on my current ones and the ones I ordered) I dont have to use HDMI my 5970 takes care of that lol.

What I am trying to tell you is to not get those TV's because they are not on Nvidia or in your case ATI's list of compatible hardware. ATI seems a lot harder to set up also but here is a page to see. Save your money. Or you can get some of the listed compatible monitors that are on the ATI site I am posting. However I doubt your going to find 30+ inches unless you looking to drop over a grand each or close to.

Most of the time i play the game on my Monitor in fullscreen 1680x1050 with GPU's in Crossfire, i ran the game with all texture and shadow settings maxed but without AO and DOF as they do cause a bit of slowdown, the games runs around 40 to 50 fps average sometimes a little lower in crowded areas

Maybe is my bios but I can't unlock my 4th core on my pc :/ - Stuck at Tri-core

could be a bad core.. I actually had 2 of these cpu's my first had 2 bad cores.. They were original 4 core cpus but locked the other 2 which can be unstable so its kinda like the lottery you get lucky if you get one with 4 cores working my first one everytime i unlocked the other 2 the pc would freeze up

3D: I don't have 3D monitors but I do have on my big screen. Looking forward for the 3D later on.

Keyboard: Logitech G15 (it's a an old one). I also have the Logitech G13 gameboard as well.

The settings I run FFXIV are:

16x AA
Ambient Occlusion : Turned off
Texture: settings are both high
Shadows: high

Under Nvidia control panel setttings on the advanced settings:

3-way alternate frame rendering is enabled
Triple buffering
V-sync is on since it's has so much screen tearing when I moved the camera around.

I also run 2D surround by the way but not 3D since my monitors are not capable of doing that. Looking forward later on though!

PC Specs:

FPS: 10-60 (25 on average) really jumpy. Gridania lags the most.
In general the game is all-round jittery and appears to skip a bit each time I move the camera or character. I can't seem to find a happy medium between the settings and my hardware. I thought the GTX 460 would solve all problems but wow...SE really has some issues here with their game!

I need advice on this, I'll be trying all types of random settings all night but what do you advise I set for my system?

Also more importantly, what do you guys think of my CPU? I feel it's causing my the problems in terms of lag. I should think the GTX 460 can handle the game at least decently. Right?
