As the title asks: which class - in your opinion - is the most fun to play? (Not the best to play stat-wise, just purely fun and feels good.)
None, because there is no such word as 'funnest.'
I have fun with WAR as a tank, SAM as a melee DPS, DNC as a physical ranged DPS, and RDM as a magical ranged DPS.
Pre-Shadowbringers, I also had fun with DRK as a tank and SMN as a magical ranged DPS.
I find Gunbreaker and Warrior the most fun tanks to play. Mainly because you feel like a bad butt.
Whm is the only fun healer since it's the only one that can do good damage and heals.
My personal favourite DPS is Monk (mostly because it involves punching).
Samurai is also kinda fun basically any class that deals damage.
Shall I introduce you to my dear old friend the Dictionary and Informal English? (source) ;) Let's not get nitpicky over trivial things, ta.
DoL/DoH are all equally fun and the best!!!!
Red Mage for sure. It just has such a nice feel and flow to how it plays, and no baby sitting DoTs. Samurai is pretty fun as well but I don't have it at 80 so I'm not sure what it will be like at end game.
Botanist.

Dancer and Astrologian
Its nice to have non traditional weapons once and awhile coupled with some great animations. No matter what you play, rotations are baked so hard into this game that outside a couple unique abilities classes aren't too different outside of how they look while you do it, so yeah, these 2 things make the classes for me.
Astrologian not only had the weapon and animations but also had a fun card system that I had hoped would be expanded on, but nope, they instead killed it /criesinacorner
Also...
People who patrol forums to correct other peoples grammar are the worst. This is why you don't get invited to parties.
I keep it short:
Any questions?

I still love PLD. I know it can be a bit on the slow side as far as how it plays, but I just like the feel of the job and the look of it.
But my fave is actually DNC. Ever since Kingdoms of Amalur, I fell in love with chakrams. It's flashy, involved, and feels smooth to play. I generally don't like RNG being in charge of my rotation, but for the most part it feels natural for DNC.
Been leveling machinist and only now do I realize I have made the grave error of not capping it first.
Even after the rework, ninja for me is the most fun. It's faster gcd and the weaving of its many abilities between each other is very satisfying.
For me, DNC and BRD.
I enjoy RNG proc-based DPS and I like playing more support/buffer jobs. For DNC, I also like how they incorporated the Step abilities.
red mage and dancer
For me it depends on my mood. I alternate between tank and heals mostly but also occasionally like a good DPS. The classes lore and "look" play a large part in my enjoyment of the class. For the longest time I mained DRK but recently switched to PLD. When I heal I prefer SCH for a lore perspective - but typically play WHM because for me its typically much easier. DPS-wise right now I'm really enjoying MCH.
I know it's the basic tank but i really do love pld, it was my original class i started on and i still love it today. It's magic is super fun to use and i always feel so powerful playing it.
Ast would be a close second, i know it gets a lot of hate, but i think it's quote on quote 'terribleness' (even though if you know how to play it it's just as effective as the other two) makes it more fun than whm or sch.
Im not as big of a dps fan, but i still do enjoy playing my dnc a lot too, it feels satisfying to get off all those dances for big aoe damage.
Obviously these 3 are my main classes, but i picked them as my mains for a reason; i just really like them.
I like playing healer/support jobs so...none.
Truthfully though, I find myself enjoying Scholar because I like being able to shield the party and help them stay alive with damage reductions etc, and I can kind of pretend I’m supporting the party with Chain Stratagem / personal damage output. I sometimes try and play Bard since it used to be the job I’d use almost all the time, but after all the changes I don’t really enjoy it anymore (SE plz return Requiem I want to sing again lol)
Shout out to Dancer for being the second ‘funnest’ job. It looks cool, has decent support capabilities, the damage mechanics are fun and engaging enough, and to top it all off you have things like Improvisation and Curing Waltz to help the party when they’re in trouble. Dancer is really the only job left in ffxiv with a ‘support-y’ feel, so it’s definitely high up there for me. Only reason Scholar takes my top spot is because I like being able to heal the party up when things get rough, which naturally Dancer can only do so much for with Curing Waltz
I personally find Samurai & Red Mage fun, because I don’t have a lot of responsibility and can go kill without having to worry about anyone else, with exception of the occasional raise. Machinest has really become fun for me after giving it a shot in the middle of Stormblood and after the new changes, just blew everything else out of the water. It’s been my main ever since.
SMN, NIN, DRK, DRG for me.
DRK, WAR, RDM, MCH.
BLM, SMN, SAM, NIN. WHM and DRK if I must heal/tank. AST used to be my fave healer.
I swap between red mage and machinist. For tanks, I prefer gunbreaker. I almost never heal, but when I do, white mage.
For me it is GNB hands down. But I am also biased after having waited for a gunblade job since ARR and it has honestly been better than I would have ever expected. It plays like a dps but is a tank.
Forum poster is pretty fun.
Among the roles... bard, white mage, and gunbreaker (paladin close second for tank) are most fun for me. I don't like melee dps almost at all, but I dislike dragoon the least.
And fisher. Don't ask me why, but I just like fishing.
I like the "busy" jobs so I play Summoner and Machinist a lot. Astrologian is a good equivalent for the healers.
Ninja used to be one of my favorites but I don't really like the new Ninjutsu changes, but I'll get used to it.
WHM is my main, my favorite job, and the most fun to play for me. I really enjoy AST/DNC too.
I liked 4.0 BRD personally. I don't think anything in the game has actually ever come close to feeling as satisfying to play as BRD did back then.
Currently I still haven't played enough of the 5.0 classes to say one way or the other. 5.0 MCH is apparently extremely fun but I haven't got the chance to toy around with it yet as I'm waiting for DNC to hit 70 before I concurrently work on all the Ranged classes. DNC for what it's worth is fun in doses but that fun wears thin if you have bad luck with your feather RNG, the DPS disparity between good RNG and bad RNG knocks the class down a few pegs for me.
All in all out of all the classes I've gotten to 80 I'd say RDM and BLM are my current favorites. BLM feels very feature complete from my novice perspective and was enjoyable to get to 80, as was RDM. When it came to healers I didn't much mind SCH or WHM, and the former is my current main, but SCH doesn't feel as good to play as it used to. As for AST... Not touch it till 6.0 if I can help it. Leveling it was absolutely the worst experience I've had in ShB thus far.
IMO, DRK, PLD, WHM, BLM, and SMN.
Your mileage may vary.
Dictionary.com is the furthest thing from the definitive source of the English language (the Oxford English Dictionary is). The key is in your link: Informal English. Dictionary.com includes so many informal and colloquial language, which are not words by the authoritative sources. If you write a paper at any college or university worth their salt, and write the word funnest, it will be circled and marked, "not a word."
As for all the others who throw around "Grammar Nazi," you're just too funny. I guess it's an unrealistic expectation when browsing an English forum for posters to use actual words? This is why society is going down the toilet.
I wasn't aware we were in English class, but I'll take it.
I play white mage the most. I don't know if I would call it fun though. Intensive healing can be for me, trying to do damage while doing healing.
I do not see how this is relevant here. This is neither a forum of professionals nor of students. The only two things that we all have in common here is that we have Final Fantasy 14 accounts and we all identify as English speakers, as opposed to something like Spanish speakers or French speakers. (And even then, multilingual people with a different primary language may come to the English forums anyway, for whatever reason.)
We should keep the university stuff in the universities.
Edit:
As for the class/job I play, I only play DRG. I picked up BLU mage too, but that's a limited job so it doesn't count.
I have my BRD and DRK 'leveled' to 60, but I absolutely refuse to use them because one of my family members thought it would be a wonderful idea to use skip potions on my character as 'a gift.'
I discarded the gear, threw away the gil, and vowed to never play them.

Please don't be that guy today. :/
As for topic, use to be healers, mainly AST but not gonna make that dead
horse into playdoh at this point lol.
Funniest has to be culinarian. I've gotten some laughs by joining a field battle and wailing away.
For damage, DNC no contest. Everything else I've tried has either felt too clunky with no flow, or is bogged down with excessive combos and timers and resources that aren't fun to manage. DNC has a chaotic priority system, fun short CDs, high mobility, and I enjoy supporting the party. It also looks great and is fun to watch.
BRD is a close second and would honestly be tied with DNC if AoE felt smoother, but I do still enjoy it for a lot of the same reasons.
Bro, this is a forum for gaming. Not for academic papers. I don't see anywhere in the rules of this forum that says to use formal English, do you? Of course I'm going to talk/write differently here than I am going to write an article for university or business. Though, if we want to get nitpicky over grammar, here's a fun fact for you: you should never capitalise after a full colon or a semi-colon unless it's a title like Final Fantasy because it is not a period, exclamation, or question mark. The only time (outside of titles) one should capitalise is at the start of a new sentece followed by period/question mark/exclamation mark. Unfortunately, it is a very common and overlooked mistake (though, who knows? It might vary from US to CA to UK, et cetera, because they all have different grammatical rules.). Despite being a scholarly person who is well-aware of the consequences of a professor's ruthless red pen, I see you capitalised after a full colon despite it not being a title. Tsk-tsk. If you were my student, I'd circle that and give it a -5 points. ;)
But I'm not your teacher. :| So, I'm not going to because I don't care. Like I said before: this isn't an academic forum for academic papers. The only thing that matters here is not our language but our connection to Final Fantasy XIV; it's partly why the forum isn't JUST English. So, arguments of fun vs funnest and the rules of the colon don't really belong here.
Now that we've got that out of the way, why don't you tell me or the general reader here which classes you find the most fun.
Edit: I just noticed someone literally said the same thing. Woops! Sorry! But I'm glad to see that someone was on the same train of thought (or vice versa). /Highfives DumdogsWorld
Also, thank you to the others who have been really chill. xD Did not expect that! /Highfives to the rest as well :)
