Lets Set a Positive Tone!

Since the launch of XIV the fan sites have been filled with negative posts. While I wholeheartedly understand why people have felt let down by the poor launch. . .the community here needs to maintain a more positive outlook. I have lurked numerous fan site forums and the biggest issue that I have noticed is overwhelming negative complaining without helpful constructive criticism.

I can full understand why people have been upset. But lets face it, the levels of negativity that exists on the fan sites is actually eroding the community and the potential future success of the game.

If we want to see the game and community survive and thrive we should maybe pursue a more professional decorum. I think SE will more likely listen to feedback from those that actually have constructive ideas as opposed to flame wars and trolling.

I have plenty of patience, and above all as a player I am willing to contribute in a positive and meaningful manner to help SE correct current problems. I just hope that others who are angered or upset can see my points. :)

I agree. I definitely encourage people to say the issues that they may have. Just hope that people can be mature when stating their issues.

I am going to be taking a critical, but constructive approach to the forums, but it will be interesting to see how this pans out. I think there will be some anger here, at least at first, that will need to be expressed towards the game, but there will also be optimism and looking towards the future.

This is good to have, with a positive attitude it keeps people coming back to the forums and sets a good tone for people wondering what the actual community is like. If we have a good community we will have a fun 10 years playing this game xD

I am all for the positive appraoch to things.
Here is hoping to some real, mature conversations, and hopefuly some real moderation on these forums to keep out potential trolls!

And Lets also keep a promise to not reply to the same tired conversations that we've been dealing with in the fan sites! I'm happy for the new breath and blood that these forums will bring and hopefully we will get some real, respectable discussion here.

Agreed. People are going to try to make a mess of this for entertainment. It's up to the players to keep it from happening.

Good post AarosLunos, and it sets the tone to what this forum should be.

let's hope that things stay nice for quite a while, and that the anger doesn't over-run the community, though I think actually needing to own FFXIV to post here will keep trolls down to a minimum.

I am also all about a positive tone for the forums, but if players have a well thought out reason to post something that will critisize the game and make a legitimate subject for discussion, then I'm all for that too, thats what the forums are all about ^.^

I agree, it's been pretty tough dealing with the negativity over at the FFXIVCore, I'm really looking forward to seeing a more positive attitude toward the game, just to be optimistic. I understand the disappointment (hell I'm disappointed too but I'm hopeful >.>)

I agree, a positive tone would be nice. Sure we can criticize and stuff like that but there's no need to do it in a whiny or troll tone.

Yes. Let's tell SE that everything about FFXIV is good so they can rush out the PS3 launch! The goal here is to make sure that the big reviewers give the game a 6/10 this time, right?

I agree wholeheartedly! The negativity felt in many fan sites often has me turning away from them. I honestly hope that people will treat these forums with the respect it deserves. After all, we are all players, and in essence, we make the game what it is. If all we ever do is complain in a nonconstructive manner, we will never see the constructive changes to the game that we all hope for.

I do agree, the negativity does set a quite dismal atmosphere across the game and other forums. working together and building a great community, sharing those great experiences and knowledge, that's what i am here for ^^.

When you think positively then good things happen, and so far, these forums are doing good :D

I see you're one of the angry ones. That is fine you can be angry, but that doesn't mean you have to be bitter to post constructive criticism. I'm not aiming for the devs to rush things. I'm aiming to set a more professional tone so players who are concerned about the future of XIV can have mature meaningful discussions (even better if the dev team ever chimes in).

Having a positive attitude doesn't make us apologists and don't let anyone tell you that you are. Part of discussion is letting in different criticisms, but then subjecting those criticisms to rigorous scrutiny. The person who brings up such criticisms also needs to be willing to scrutinize themselves.

So glad we're getting these posts in right out of the gate, it took forever to get done on the Alpha/Beta boards.

Constructive criticism is exactly what they need, it's why we've been asked to give input on future changes, and why these boards are in place. If you have an issue with something, and have a good reason for said issue which you can articulate maturely and without malice, by all means make it known.

I fully agree here. Let's keep it positive so we can get FFXIV whipped into shape much quicker!

Yea the Alpha/Beta forums were pretty horrific, part of the very reason why I wanted to get this topic up first thing.

Many game companies have gone down the road that SE went down; due to pressures to meet deadlines they released a game that wasn't fully complete. Many are quick to criticize SE for this because they are such a respected company. SE has done something very important though, they've taken steps to redeem themselves; by listening to their players, and responding well. Their epiphany in PR bodes well for their future, these forums are a testament to this~ (Sega has never responded this well to the negativity they've garnered over the years)

And here's hoping the community will prosper, and in turn, the game will too.

Its nice to have a forum to talk with people who actually care about the betterment of the game... lets hope the trolls will be kept out.
