Lvl 80 gathering places for Ishgard restoration

Wouldn't make it more sense, to place them somewhere in the source?

I mean, how do they know about the materials in the shard?

And didn't we want to stop the melding of the worlds? Now hordes of gatheres bring the shard piece by piece into the source :D

Yes, this was a minor head-scratcher for me, too. How would the skybuilders in the Source know anything about materials in the First? As far as lore goes, this stretches credulity at best, and breaks immersion at worst.

But, oh well, I chalked this up to another case of gameplay and lore segregation. The L80 playing areas are all in the First after all, so it's no wonder, really, that there is where S-E would want players to go to collect their L80 materials.

I had that same thought, and mentioned it to a friend. It really doesn't make a lot of sense to need things from the first for Ishgard on the Source. I am guessing since Diadem reworking isn't ready, the devs just put them with the rest of the lvl 80 things.

While the lower-level materials mention being specifically requested for the project, the Lv80 materials either avoid the question, are tongue-in-cheek about it, or suggest that you are personally deciding the First is a good place to obtain [object with specific qualities].

Well, it's not that we can't inherently move objects between the worlds, but more like the difference between bringing back some souvenirs from a neighbouring country versus invading it and wiping it off the map. Literally.

Yeah, in the german version, we don't get that nice and really cool flavour text from the english versions. The items are just described as 'materials for the restoration of Ishgard', which just adds to the confusion.

I like the English descriptions for stuff from the first, they're pretty funny.

But yeah, it seems it's the WoL deciding to visit another dimension for mats rather than the people of Ishgard specifically requesting stuff from a world they don't even know exists.

The wood from rak tika basically confirms this. Quote is "Obviously, none of the skybuilders has even heard of the Rak'tika Greatwood, though the specific qualities they seek in their timber can most easily be found in the white ash trees that grow there."

Current the same thing be asked about materials and crafts given for l80 grand company turn ins?

It's the same "logic" behind turning in goods crafted from First materials to Rowena or the Grand Companies. Just roll with it.

I personally always compared them to the Annas from the Fire Emblem series who all know each other across like dimensions and no one ever questions it.

They make a big deal of you needing to make a pact with Feo Ul so they can bring you stuff from your retainers in the Source.... yet you can send your retainers out on ventures to gather stuff found only in the First.

My retainers have brought me gear from ShB dungeons, including Mt Gulg. I choose not to ask how.

Headcanon; Feo Ul gave it to them to give to me just to make me wonder.

I could totally see Feo Ul doing something like that. Along the same lines, the first few sets of gear you can craft use a mix of mats from the Source and the First. Makes me wonder if you were just inventing stuff on the fly by throwing together whatever you had in your bag at the time.

You fused with Ardberts soul and now you shall have the material knowledge of the first. Then by using your knowledge of the source and by brainstorming (which means getting in the head again and again during dungeon runs) you shall now possessed the power to craft mixed products of both worlds.
