If thats the case they should use this as a showcase of whats to come in 2.0 with thoughtful map design rather then more C&P crapola.
One can only hope.
I am going to hazard a guess that it will be in Mordohna
They've got a temporary base in the hills surrounding their crashed airship in Mor Dhona. There's also going to be that Imperial stronghold dungeon in Northern Thanalan in 2.0. There's also already Imperial airship docks in Northern Thanalan right now, so it might be up there.
The lore, as I've said in previous posts, seems to indicate that the Meteor is going to impact Silvertear lake most significantly [either impacting there and being destroyed into fragments by the aetheric concentration, or repelled using some sort of devastating cannon that harnesses aetheric concentration], this is furthered by Yoshi's recent post to pay attention to the Monk storyline.
This is important because underneath Silvertear is the crystal tower holding the remains of the first emporer of [something I can't think of].
Mor'dhana might make the most sense for this base. I'm personally most excited about this in the patch, since I'm a sucker for Magitek.
I don't know that the Thanalan area makes the most sense, because even though the Cerulean extractors are there [and they will be there in 2.0], most of the Garlean focus is towards the Gridania area currently.
I'll be glad to see that area going into Thanalan though if that's what they're putting in, because it looks really neat.
I just want more reasons to go to Mor Dhana
I'd love to be able to go to Mor Dhana more often... as long as they rid of all those 60-95 monsters that lurk around important quest areas...
Infact... SE could you do us a favor and kill ALL 60-99 monster in this game until there is a valid need for them. ; ;
Your Guardians of the Grove... fantastic until the 12th one that swarms together and the fact that they can link with the monsters around them...
But on topic wise... yep, I'd love to swim in that miasma~
Walk past Guardians of the Grove, they won't aggro. The only aggro you might get is from the Spindiggles.
Mor Dhona is great, so hopefully some more content is there (if only for the music there). Dodging the Lv90+ Basilisks to get to Revenant's Toll was hilarious (only to get OHKO'd by the enemy in the story mission because I didn't know what I was doing, lol)
I would say its going to be in Mor Dhona
I hope their weather effect for Mor'Dhana stays in 2.0. It's really cool, especially coming out of a cave. I'd even encourage them to do more innovative weather effects.
A Mor Dhona stronghold would really be AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And a sylph stronghold in The Black shroud because.. well... Why not?
It more becomes a problem of the wolves, of course, there is always a cluster of 4-5 level 50-53 wolves hanging out, my experience everytime is that I end up walking through the group of wolves cause there are a lot of trees nearby. I'm sure a blm or class with tons of HP could make it through without a sweat, but my poor ole whm barely made it everytime.
A workaround yes, but imo the trees shouldn't link with anything.
On topic: I too am curious where the imperial stronghold will be, but have a feeling it will end up in Mor Dhona as well. Since there are very few things that utilize that zone, and its a really cool place, putting the stronghold there wouldn't be a bad idea. I would be all for getting a closer look at that airship in the middle of the zone :D.
For the record, the Ceruleum Fields in northern Thanalan are friendly territory. Those are Garlond Ironworks workshops, they are not Imperial controlled.
Mor Dhona is the most logical location.
