Boosting prominence of LL and Gridania

I was thinking of how much of a ghost town LL and Gridania is, at least by comparison to Uldah and wondered if anyone had ideas of how to make the other two cities more... relevant. Currently, the only reason to visit them is for the Inn (which will be fixed by tomorrow), as well as any Guild homes located there. But otherwise, the Market Wards are empty and there's not really anyone there. Conversely, Uldah is very much overcrowded.

I'm not thinking of something like forced segregation, really, but some kinds of ideas that would make people want to spend time in those cities and sell their goods there instead of all just crowding in one spot.

Any thoughts?

Each cities wards need to be accessible from other cities. It is the only way this will happen since Uldah has already taken root.

What stikxs said, plus we need a global or cross-city chat system that allows people to see "shouts" from anywhere/any city, so you don't always have to go to Ul'dah to find members or watch for public activities.

global/server-wide LS maybe, a shell we could all slap on if we wanted to seek parties and what not. also agree market wards should all be connected somehow.

myself, i'm just gonna start being stubborn and make my favorite town homebase ;)

Yep. It's called their party search feature which is what people are suppose to be using it for. No need for LFG channels and all that garbage.

It would be nice if when a character is within interaction distance of Aetheryte he/she could use a global channel. The idea is that it is something like telepathy through the Aetheryte system.

I definitely like the idea of the cross-city shout channel. Half the people feel compelled to be in Ul'dah to shout or not miss another one. The other half use the Wards there.

(It's not that integrated to make it an easier first choice though)

As far as the party search goes. Spent the better part of 2 weeks with my LFG comment up and seeking party checked. Tried party recruitment, no go.

Went to Uldah shouting. Got a group in under an hour. (finally :D )

as a newer player i was under the incorrect assumption that people who wanted X quest located in say Gridania would be in Gridania. Abviously that is not that case.

If shouting in Uldah is quicker then no one will bother with search or seeking.

I have had limited luck with the seeking party and search system. But for nearly anything more then 2 people it seems to fall flat.

The 2 suggestions prior, Market wards will help alot. I'm being a foolish and stubborn noob and placing my retainers in Gridania. Atleast one of them. I want to do what i can, which isn't much, to help keep some population in the city i choose to help, live and defend. If for no other reason then to help someone a little newer then me to be able to buy a few things if they like it there as much as i do.

Plus side, since the Job quests and the server merge there have been ALOT more folks around Gridania of late. Its kinda nice ( Please stay :D we have cookies! )

If they intend for people to actually use the party search as a replacement for shouts, they need to work on making it far less... unwieldy. I know they've improved it over time, but I still find it confusing, and do not use it at all.
