Still having this issue.
Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.
When did this start happening? Do you recall anything changing/updating on your home network that coincides with this? What platform are you playing on?
What have you done so far in order to alleviate the issue?
We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!
same problem
problem didnt exist until this update and started to occur once the new launcher began downloading the update
using PC with no changes to my network in well over a year
tried using old config version of launcher .. problem persists
tried downloading from steam client but as soon as FFxiv launcher begins download problem persists
Aussie here. Was getting the same error and tried everything. Only thing that worked for me was using a VPN to tunnel to Singapore. Don't know if it will work for others the same way but hope it helps.
Hello, I'm also an Australian with this issue. Same error code on both launchers. Download stops at 48mb and throws up the above error.
I'm on PC, I was playing the game yesterday with no issues. Here are all the things I have tried to fix the issue:
-I have tried restarting my router and PC several times.
-Checked all my firewall settings to insure ff14 is still co-operating.
-Flushed and tried static DNS settings
It feels like a permissions issue somewhere but I can't find it. Maybe it's external on Squares end?
tried the VPN tunnel to singapore and still have the same error message when patch starts downloading ... happens around 48Mg
yep aussie and stops at 48 for me too :(
Thank you for the reply Icaras.
You may want to try some of the following in order to alleviate the issue:
1) If you are using a wireless connection, try connecting to your router with an Ethernet cable.
2) Make sure your anti-virus has the appropriate exceptions for Final Fantasy XIV.
3) Check the following Port Ranges on your router/modem to ensure that they have been opened:
▼TCP
54992 through 54994,
55006 through 55007,
55021 through 55040
Your ISP can open these ports for you.
4) Try a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC. This will make sure that no background processes are interfering with the game.
5) The game will use the Internet Explorer web browser to connect to the internet. Open Internet Explorer, then open the "Tools" setting, go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
- Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
- Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
- Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
- Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
- Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
- Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!
Am Aussie. Also has the same problems, with the exact same error code. I've tried turning off my firewall, changing the DNS and flushing it, followed the above steps to make changes to Internet Explorer, clean booting my PC, using a VPN... All failed.
The only method I haven't tried is porting forward, as I am reliant on public wifi and trying to get into the default gateway just leads me to a 'Connection Error' page.
I just wish there was a way to manually patch instead of going through the launcher. This would make life so much easier than jumping through all this technical hoops.
Are you guys all with telstra? Because I am, and I've been having this issue since about 7pm last night. I've pretty much tried everything under the sun and none of it works.
Hello, I'm also an Australian with this issue. Same error code on both launchers. Download stops at various points throws up the above error. been trying for an hour after lunch.
on PC, I was playing the game recently, no issues. I have:
-Reset Number of times/ turned all other programs off
-Checked all my firewall settings to ensure ff14 is still co-operating.
-Flushed and tried static DNS settings
-switched between both load screens
-opened through the old boot- still error
-Reinstalled- still error
I find it od not sure what I may be missing on perhaps Squares end?
west australian
1) power cycled and reset modem
2) disconnected and reconnected ethernet cables
3) affirmed firewall and antivirus exceptions for ffxiv ... even tried it with the fire-walls disabled
4) affirmed current internet explorer and dx11 were up to date
5) rebooted and "clean" booted my comp
6) retried VPN tunnel to both alternate australian cities, as well as singapore. tokyo and even new york
still no joy and the download always errors at between 43-48Mb
I've been having this issue since last night as well, and I've tried literally everything I can think of:
- Turning off Windows Firewall and Real-time Protection
- Changing DNS to 8.8.8.8 (and later 4.2.2.2), flushing DNS, and rebooting
- Going through Internet Explorer's settings as listed earlier
- Switching between old and new launchers, as well as the x64 version of each (and launching them as Administrator)
- Opening ports on my router and rebooting it
- Reinstalling from scratch - it downloads fine until I hit 2019.10.11.0000.0000 and then throws the same error - and I've tried this with both launchers as well
- Using Mudfish in Full VPN mode with servers in Sydney, Singapore, Japan and LA
I'm also in Australia, though I'm with iiNet in Victoria. I'd like to point out that my Windows 10 install is also fresh (as in I installed it literally hours before trying to initially update FFXIV), so there shouldn't be any real conflicts there either.
Only thing I can think of at this point is that there's something weird going on with the route to the specific patch server holding the current patch since the rest of the download works fine..?
Yep same issue here. Have tried absolutely everything mentioned above. Still having this issue and yes it seems to be only australians having this issue. Posts on reddit about it too. Please square fix this!
Australian. Have been trying the same solutions posted above, nothing works. Same error code, stops at 48 MB
American, St Louis, and it has been happpening sience last night. PS4 updated just fine. PC Will not let me. says something about ff14update.fln
North America; Texas - I've had ZERO issues with this ever! Until today and SE's beautiful new launcher comes out and stomps all over a select few people. I've done everything that anyone has listed in this thread. I've tried downloading a VPN, flushing DNS, releasing/renewing DNS - and even uninstalling FFXIV. Now, I am stuck at Heavensward download with the same freaking issue. So - I've taken even more steps backwards.
Does SquareEnix has ANYONE to support this or no? I'd like to go back to playing my game with my wife who has had zero issue playing the new content. (Same household/same router)
Still not fixed. Am going to need to unsub until this is fixed. What a shame.
doing what the mod just said to do doesnt work either
Well i glad i wasn't the only AU person with this issue i had to use a VPN to download it
Ok i managed to fix the issue on my end. Heres what i did
Locate and select the network connection. After that, hit the Properties button. Now, hit the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) that is under the ‘This connection’, the following items: section. Next, choose the ‘Use the following DNS server addresses’ and then, in the Preferred DNS server, write 4.2.2.2. After that, in the Alternate DNS server, enter 4.2.2.4. Now, mark the ‘validate settings upon exit’ option and hit the OK button. Here, you might be asked to confirm the process, so, press the OK button once again.
Thereafter, click on the Windows Key once and then, write “cmd” in the search box. Now, double-tap on the Command Prompt and press the Run As Administrator option that is present on the result list. Here, you need to apply the below highlighted commands and press the Enter button after each command.
In the Command Prompt, enter “ipconfig /flushdns”.
Then, type “ipconfig /release”.
Lastly, write “ipconfig /renew”.
After this is done your internet will briefly disconnect for approximately 5 seconds and then reconnect. Open up FFXIV and log in.
Do these things in exactly this order. I hope this works for you guys, it did for me.
A fix I have found so far is using Mudfish in Full VPN mode, tried everything else and this was the solution I found.
That didn't work for me - HOWEVER, what DID work for me just now was using a free VPN that was being mentioned by others on Reddit, specifically CyberGhost VPN. You can register for a free 24 hour trial, and I FINALLY managed to get the update to download correctly after installing that and using the Singapore Torrent server (it downloaded at around 5MB/s so it actually was pretty fast for a free VPN.
As to why this specific VPN worked while Mudfish in Full VPN mode didn't.. I really can't say. But maybe this will help a few people out at least.
Wow, that is strange. I used CyberGhost first and it didn't work but Mudfish did.
We shouldn't have to be using VPN's to download patches
I found a fix that works in a previous thread, thought you guys might wanna see it. I didn't need to do any port forwarding, just mess with my IE settings and the compatibility mode of the ffxiv_dx11.exe. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...08-20495-20495
Hey everyone, I just did this quick fix and it worked for me! It patched right away. (I am Australian too)
https://imgur.com/a/0wGCdtJ
Remember to do the steps in reverse (aka select back to automatic DNS server after)
I hope it helps! GOOD LUCK!
I'm Irish, i have attempted all of the suggested fixes from everyone but still get the error every time i try to download the patch. unable to download patch files [30413][25008][10009] . really wanna get this sorted asap.
I had hoped that the emergency maintenance that was carried out would provide a fix to this issue but im still having the exact same problem. i have attempted all suggested solutions to no avail. getting really pissed off at this stage i have never had an issue downloading patches before now. Something must have changed on the developers side, as i have made no alterations to my setup. Please look into this properly and come up with a proper solution.
I know there are probably reasons not to tell us what's happening behind the scenes, but it would sure be nice if an admin popped in just to say "Don't worry guys. Someone is working on the problem right now".
The DNS fix doesn't work for everyone. There is a method that worked for me and several other people on Reddit though. You need to use a VPN and connect it to somewhere else while downloading and you should stop getting these errors. I'm an Aussie and I connected to America to fix mine. Even if you get an error halfway through just start it again and it should work eventually.
The best VPNs to use for this are CyberGhost and CactusVPN since they both have free 1 day trials that only require an email to sign up for. Even if this sounds intimidating to some of you I encourage you to give it a chance since it was the only thing that worked for me.
