Why is new housing restricted to FC purchase only? I want my first house!

I am not understanding why all plots are restricted to FC only and private citizens cannot purchase a small plot? Is there a reason Free Company's get first dibs? Here I am with gil in hand, ready to buy my first house after SIX years of playing and I am not allowed and it seems odd.

When do the plots open up for private citizens? When they are all gone? I don't see why those of us who want a private home must be forced to do this camping thing, where people wait hours and hours for plots to open up and then hope they are the first one to click purchase.

Couldn't they have made a selection of plots for private and a selection for FC?

Because fc housing has things in it, such as fc rooms, fc workshop.

Does your FC own a house already? Then you are a step ahead of people wanting a personal house - you can now relocate to a better plot later on.

Because if it wasn't you can replace this thread with "Why isn't new plots restricted to FC only? The market was flooded within a few minutes and my FC can't get a house"

when there's no restriction of private house buying on the new additional ward release

many small and new free companies that need house for their fc facilities
but the land they had longing for eternity, snatched in front of their own eyes
by personal that got lucky in server ticks and login queue

nowadays,
the dev implement the countermeasure
so fc could have the advantage of buying house in the new release of wards,
and the privateer gone crying out loud
because the land they longing for eternity snatched by those fcs

Your FC doesn’t need a large. No one needs a large. If people wouldn’t approach housing with such entitlement they could be happy with whatever they did manage to purchase.

I don't think you are the one to say what an FC needs and doesn't need. As far as entitlement who's "need" is greater? The private owner (1 person) or an FC ( a dozen or more active players)? The amenities and FC size, I feel, should determine the size of plot that even an FC can own based on need. I think "need" plays a role and it should play even a bigger role concerning FC vs Private owners. How to do this in theory is another topic for another day.

I do understand why the new wards have been made available to FC's only. What is bothering me as that all the plots they've vacated in the lower number wards are still sitting vacant and CAN'T be purchased because of the stupid lock out timer system. It's been well over 8 hours since the first FC's relocated this morning, and people have had all day to relocate to more desirable plots. It's time for these open plots to be made available for purchase to us first-time plot buyers. Come on SE, this is absolutely terrible!

While I understand the point of the timers, I really don't see why the timer needs to be invisible.

IMO they should make two changes.

A. Make the timer visible so everyone knows when the plot is available.
B. Disable transfers into said plots until the timer is gone.

That way the system still cuts down on people selling plots as intended, withou tleaving people clicking for hours.

Care to explain why an FC needs a large house when the only difference between a FC house and a personal house is the airship room and personal rooms, and 1-2 extra gardening plots? Which doesn’t get any bigger or provide anything special if it’s attached to a large house, by the way. Everything that can be accomplished with a large FC house can be accomplished with a small FC house.

Y’all need to get over yourselves.

The reason FCs get first dibs on new plots is because back in Shirogane, private individuals snapped out houses extremely quickly, even larges, screwing FCs out of a place to host their FCs (remember, additional rooms too) and all their facilities and space for them to gather, now in the hands of a single person.

Since the first ward expansion in Shirogane, FCs get first dibs now to counteract this, giving larger amounts of players a better chance at housing facilities. Individuals transferring just frees up housing for others later on other wards that aren't affected by the FC Only lock.

It's an annoying system but the lesser of evils till something better comes in.

The benefits of which cannot be distributed equally. Especially in a large FC. Most of the time only the FC leader and their inner circle will benefit from things such as the garden, workshop,airships and submarines.

The real question is why SE doesn't make these things available to individual players.

And to OP, you had heaps of time to rank a solo FC to rank 6 and stick 4 alts in it to buy an FC house. Even now, you should be able to do so and at least get a small FC house.

Honestly making it FC first is stupid as many players created their own FC just so they could get a house, so SE's decision to do FC first is a punch in the face to private owners who chose not to use this underhanded tactic to get a house in the first place. It should be open to all, or none.. not exclusive to one group.

Individuals shouldn't be able to buy large housing plots. And no, you can't do everything with a small FC house that you can with a large. Large houses have more slots for gardening, for crafting stations, etc.

This is ridiculous. Flat out stupid. It's like.. "yeah, if you want a house so bad you have to forget being part of an actual FC because you have to make a fake one with just you in it! Oh, you were only paying for a limited sub and only have one character? Well that's your fault for being poor RL too then!"

The wonderful thing about the standard sub is that when you take the 6 month subscription, it's the same price as the entry subscription.

If you're too 'poor' for that, get 3 friends to help you.

Secondly, your main can be part of an actual FC. Transfer FC leadership to your alt after purchasing the FC house. You only need 1 character to remain in the FC.

You're right, it is ridiculous.

FFXIV has the worst housing system of any MMORPG that I've played.

I really hope that SE introduces instanced housing alongside the existing housing with all the functionality of non-instanced housing so that everyone can get 1 personal and 1 FC house guaranteed. I hope that people keep clamouring for instanced housing.

But all that being said,we have to work with the existing system. If you really want a house, put in the effort for it.

Maybe they should just create fc housing wards for each area with only medium and large plots. That fix fc housing problems. Heard FC's tried to relocate to new plots and wouldn't let them and ones with private housing had no problem relocating to new plot that fc was trying to get but said lock to them. Like my fc we have enough gil buy 2 mansions but there long gone before ever get a chance at one to many have them for private housing.

This. They open more plots to be kind, and all you get is more childish rants. There isn't an eyeroll emote hard enough.

Most FC houses dont even get used for what people claim they need a large for. I rarely see anybody at their GC house. Most houses are empty as well. At least on my Server.

Theres loads of smalls available in older wards now you should try get one if you want you can even get one in uldah (least favorite area in terms of property purchase) then relocate to one of the new wards.

I understand why the new plots are restricted to free companies.
What I don't understand is why old plots people have moved out from are still FC time gated.
Are there really that many people throwing away three million plus gil per move to hop from one small plot to another over and over for no apparent reason?
Cause people in medium or large houses sure aren't downgrading to small plots for the giggles.

No, the old plot isn't fc gated...
It's just that the recently vacant plot couldn't be bought by anyone...
the plot will be free to bought by anyone when the invisible random timer has run out...
SE has implemented those limitation to (supposedly) fighting the housing rmt or something like that...

and I know some people who have S house in some "bad" plots will pay those another 3 mil gil just to move to another S plot in the "good" spots...

While I understand what everyone is saying, I don't see why private citizens wanting to purchase their first home are stuck with other's cast-off plots in older wards. If I want a waterfront plot in Shirogane that is open, I should be able to buy it if I have the gil, enough said. Why do I want to sort through everyone's hand-me-down plots, most of which, aren't even in great locations?

I lived in a medium house in the Mists. Down the road from me in my ward, there is an FC house (a large). This FC is never on. When I click on the placard, the FC has 50 players in it. None of them are ever online when I peek. The yard has exactly one tree and a bench. Inside is barely decorated. There is no workshop. No one has purchased FC rooms. The house has sat there for months since I moved in. I assume someone logs in long enough to run through the house and prevent demolition.

The two other large houses in that ward were sporadic, but still rarely seen. These are Free Companies, who have at least 25-50 listed members, who are rarely or never active.

Meanwhile, I have purchased a large house. It is already fully decorated. I have two housemates, and all three of us are on and active daily and in and out of the house. We hold events there as we did in our old medium house.

I regret nothing.

It just makes NO sense to me. I even just wanted a small house. Perfect small plot on the water in Shirogane, but NOPE. Can't have it.

I think it's ridiculous that individuals are even allowed to buy med and large housing when so many FCs have none. Also, even though they say individuals can't buy right now, they can upgrade and most of the new plots are already taken by individuals.
