Why did you let Individuals relocate to the FC Wards?

The new wards are filled with the greed of those who decided to relocate to a large for their personal consumption instead FCs have them.
Very disappointing for a much larger group of people and has done nothing to address the continued issue with housing.

There's more individuals taking large houses than FCs on some worlds. What a flawed system.

They did it the same way in 4.2 as well, where they explicitly said individuals can't purchase plots for personal use but you can relocate your houseif you already have it.

The reason being that relocations don't actually take up more plots, every plot that's relocated is a plot that's opened somewhere else.

From what I could see on my world, MOST of the all of the MED and LARGE houses in the new wards went to individual homeowners who were moving or upgrading. While I would have been happy to upgrade my house (I didn’t BTW), I agree with the OP. Speaking without knowing all of the facts from SE’s technical side, I have to say that it seems non-sensical *if* the idea was to allow FCs to be able to find suitable (ie. bigger) homes for their company size and for new FCs to find housing of any type.

I would have been okay if they allowed individuals to relocate to EXISTING wards and maybe take over any homes that had been vacated. My husband was able to move his house that way, but he waited for after the rush and looked in the old wards thus leaving the new ones for the FCs that might need them. Not that it mattered anyway. Last I looked, our world had a handful of mediums in the Goblet left and no larges of course. Now if you can use a small, the world is your oyster even in Shirogane at this moment. But most FCs needed larger homes.

I don’t understand what SE was thinking when adding the new wards and still allowing relocations. Perhaps it was not possible for the system to distinguish between a FC and an individual when it came to relocation and so they had to allow everyone or FCs would not be able to move. Still, it might have been better to leave it to new purchases for FCs only if that were the case. I don’t know.

We do not have all of the facts and do not know what was and was not possible. I can only only speak my opinion as to ‘what if’ they had the capability and this was their choice (to allow all relocations in new and old wards). In that scenario, I personally do not think it was fair or wise. However, at least new companies have a chance at a house now even if it is a small. Had the housing been open to all today, that would not be the case.

I have bought a small house today just to relocate to medium in the new wards. That makes me a happy customer of the relocation feature so I am gonna defend it.

When you relocate it opens up a plot to other players. This takes time. It means that even if the player is not online for the new patch, they get chance to get a house.

The relocation is also great gil sink. You buy a house for 5M. Then you relocate to new (discounted) house and about 4M are gone from the game for no additional resources.

The "greedy" players usually pick the FC house option for the workshop so they would go there anyways. If we ban the relocation it's just gonna increase the amount of single-player FCs which are worse for the game, because such people can't be in real FCs where they would socialize with the community and enrich it.

Oh look its the same thread again. Square really needs to make instanced housing so people can stop complaining about how other players are luckier/quicker/ more prepared than them.

1. Why should FC have more rights to the bigger houses than a solo person? There are a lot of small FCs around that can still have quite a nice living in smaller houses too.
2. They at least give you a higher chance because you have less competition, yet even if nobody was allowed to relocate you would have just had threads about people complaining that they lost their large plot to a FC with less members than theirs, because there are simply not enough houses even just for FCs and especially not enough large ones. So there is a high chance that you would have not gotten that plot anyway.
3. You have quite the adventages next to solo people. More and easier ways to farm for gil and if you farm it that great you can send out people all over the wards to have more chances at buying houses. If a solo person still manages to get there before them then that just their luck.

Why? Simple.

The last time they had "FC Only" wards, they were ghost towns for the entire month and a half (maybe more, maybe less. But still a noticeable amount of time) where only a few FCs actually bothered to buy a house or move there. Once the restriction was lifted, the housing wards populated within the week.

The same issue was evident on Twitania, which recently had FC housing available, but the plots were more or less untouched until Personal Housing was released earlier today.

The TL;DR? FCs (according to evidence and recent takes) have less of a drive to get a house of any size, whereas personal home-owners have a much higher motivation.

The final point is thus, why is a personal Large such a problem? They paid the money, same as you would to get the property. Why is THEIR claim for it less than yours? Because you have more people behind you? Well, that should've been enough motivation to try and get it before it sold then, huh. After all, plenty of people in your FC could've gone to purchase it. Much higher chance to get it, from a flat numbers perspective. Yet you didn't.

What I found funny was literally My friend and myself were inside the server not more than 11 seconds after it went live [We bypassed the entire queue] and in Limsa [I logged out there, he logged out in Gridania] all Larges and Mediums were already claimed in the new wards. Which means in a span of 10 seconds, someone logged in, checked the board, ported, and bought /relocated the house, before I could hit enter 3 times to move a page.

I personally didnt care, I got my new house after someone gave up a medium in Limsa for a large, nice beachfront property to. But holy hell, I just found it unbelievable, unless there was an exploit or they never logged and the game rolled over? Cause mathematically, it should of been impossible for them to Load, Click, Load, Run to placard, go through menu in the span of 10 seconds. [This was on Cactuar btw] At 6:01AM, all Larges and Mediums in the new wards were already 100% claimed in every zone.

Either they were playing on god tier PCs with the fastest SSDs money can buy or they were using teleport hacks. You know those things you see bots doing out in the open and never get banned for it unless reported?

Going to defend the way SE handled this. Relocations free up spots in other housing zones which will allows new individuals OR FCs to purchase a house after the timer is gone.

I love being able to utilise relocations but can sympathise with how they would make new buyers very annoyed. If I was camping outside a plot waiting for 8 hours for the timer to go off and then some guy turned up and said 'my previous house is in goblet plot terrible if you want it' I would be very annoyed.

The current system isn't perfect but I still think its better than instanced housing because I like being able to see my neighbours housing. In the end theres just not enough supply of housing and hope SE can think of a better solution.

It doesn't have to be an either/or system considering we already have both wards and apartment buildings.

There are plenty of players who could care less about seeing the neighbors. They just want a larger space to decorate than the small room apartments offer and so their only option is to buy a house. Give them larger apartments or some other form of instanced housing and most of them will clear out of the wards, leaving room for the players who do want to be seeing neighbors.

Yesss...if SE could provide bigger readily available instanced residential spaces having a shared building areas, but has the functionality, pleasing aesthetics, and additional amenities of plotted housing, as well as safety from auto demolition, people will have more options.

Players buy larges as personals for the space or cause they have a grand plan in mind. I honestly got what I feel is better then any large house, upgraded our FC house to a medium. Then myself my wife and my co-lead moved our personal homes to the plots surrounding our new FC house. Got one plot left neighboring the FC house that I hope a interested FC member will be able to grab when purchasing for personal use becomes open. My FC gave up one of the beach front plots in the mist for a medium thats not quite as good, as for myself I gave up a plot that I have held for roughly 4 yrs :(...while I am happy I moved part of me misses my old plot and always will.

Well, I moved from a mansion to a mansion so at least I fulfilled the law of equivalent exchange.

So in other words, they are not FC wards just wards.

They were never announced as FC wards so not certain why anyone might have gotten the impression they were supposed to be. All SE said was that purchases in the new wards would be limited to FCs though any current owner could relocate.

Just stopping by to say i'm one of those "greedy" people got a nice medium and the small right next door.

Gardening should be something that isn't exclusively tied to housing. This is actually one of the reasons for me initially wanting to purchase a Large house. I wanted the 3 garden beds so i could cross-breed Thavnairian Onions efficiently. If SE can move gardening outside of Housing some individuals might not see the incentive to purchase a Large house if they were like myself and only wanted the gardens at the time.
