Looking for a response to Fine Sand and cluster/crystal to shard revamps

Several ALC players and myself have been asking for any kind of input on the use of Fine Sand and the future usefulness of clusters, especially converting them and crystals down into far more useful shards. I won't retype everything from those discussions here, but I'm afraid the devs and community reps do not read anything but this sub-forum... so yea. If you could then, please respond either to:

• Fine sand?
• Clusters, Crystals, and Shard conversions.

I am curious if they removed this to try and curb the RMT/bot issues.

Hm.. I didn't realize the cluster/crystal conversion recipes were altered. I redeemed a lot of clusters/crystals with my GMs.

I agree on that, but to then have reps actually recommend we go exchange our outdated guild marks for clusters made no sense. Numerous people called this out, but the rep never revised the statement. Besides, the change they made in 1.21 where synthesis is interrupted after ~50 repeated synths curbs botting to some degree, almost as much as the overall changes to crafting itself.

Their work motto doesn't change from patch to patch.

Back when they weren't charging us, I would be content with that. I know they have a lot of things to do and directly responding to their customers is probably the last thing they want to spend much time on, but they need to know that NA players are just as important as their native Japanese players, and given all the build-up to the revamps to GSM, ALC, and CUL recipes, they should have addressed this long-standing issue. They did not, and that's why I am pushing hard to get a direct response to something that was left out of the changes.

You will recall that Fine Sand actually involves all three crafting classes affected the most by 1.21. It wasn't among the list of items to be removed either in 1.19, or in 1.21. Yet it was mysteriously removed from the ALC guild vender (the only place to buy it, and not at a super cheap price mind you - was somewhere around 1000 gil a pinch). More troubling is that while the recipes to producing fine sand continue to exist, only those recipes that involve breaking down crystals into shards were classified as dated. 1.21 was supposed to finally fill in these gaps, since they have continually threatened to remove all dated recipes at some unknown time.

So there are several issues here. The community reps could have joined the discussion at any point back after 1.19 and they chose not to. Now I'm calling them, and the developers out. We just want answers, we just want to know they haven't overlooked this, and we just want to have some idea of what they plan to do going forward.

Thanks to everyone for keeping this thread alive and viewed, and hopefully the devs and reps will take notice next week after they implement 1.21b.

Actually, fine sand was quite cheap. It was 358 gil per unit. Less than 40k per stack.

Was it really? :( Now I'm kicking myself even more that I didn't stockpile it... I hate buying shards off the market because I know more than 90% of it is likely RMT sellers... I don't want to support those companies... Even if they sold fine sand at 1000 gil a unit, that would still be very cost effective for converting crystals into shards for personal use. I never sold shards (they have been, and will continue to be the true currency of the realm).

I always felt they should have just significantly increased the price of find sand instead of removing it.

I understand, and I am upset by it. And I do know reps aren't devs, but all they'd have to say is, "Thanks for your concern, we've forwarded this to the devs" That's it! Seriously, something to let crafters know our concerns are important. I know they won't give a straight answer, this is SE. They give straight answers 2 hours before releasing the next patch.

Bumping again in the hopes the reps will respond finally.

As has been said in the thread, and what you have acknowledged that you're aware of, we aren't able to update each thread with "We have let the dev. team know about your request and have passed along your concerns." I want to assure you that we are aware of your posts and topics (as well as your comments directed towards myself and my team members :() but we usually refrain from responding until we have concrete information (as has been mentioned, and quoted from an earlier post of mine). There are also going to be times where due to any number of reasons, we are unable to respond to each request. Please understand that and understand that we aren't ignoring you or other topics, users, subjects, posts because we don't care, but it could be to any number of reasons (this is referring to in general, and not your specific topic).

That said, I will close this thread and direct you to your original thread for discussion. (Also I appreciate you making your threads in the appropriate places, as we do read each and every forum and not just General! :))
