Earthly Star, Collective Unconscious, and add back Time Dilation

Can we raise the damage potencies to 250 and 400 for Earthly Star, this ability feels outdated for the damage portion. Collective Unconscious 100 potency regen is really weak can we please get a raise to 150. Also, can we Make Time Dilation an AOE extender with a recast of 120s having a 15s duration

The damage of Star doesn't really matter, it only encourages on-cooldown placement.

Why not just bake the time extension into Divination?

Collective Unconscious Regen is horrible at the moment for it being a 90 second cooldown. You'll get around 11k hp regen before it goes off also making you immobile for the shield effect which should be placeable just like a Scholar's placement shield/WHM's Asylum. Divination needs rework, 8/10 times you're not gonna waste time redrawing cards whenever it's during Sleeve draw or during casting malefic for that 1% difference for 3 different seals. Earthly star I believe is in a good spot for being on a 60 second cooldown with a good heal Potency. I would love to see time dilation back or some sort to extend card buffs, but if the cards won't change then what's the point. I prefer variety over just a simple 5-10 second extend timer on like 5% damage for one player.

I agree with this. Buff extenders felt great on the old cards, but right now they'd feel as useless as the cards themselves.

Collective Unconscious has in the longest case 11 ticks (18s + 15s = 33s) so you have a 550 HP heal. With 100 HP HoT you have 1100HP thats.... Your reason is with the 100 HP to hold the bubble short and have a 500HP. But so the skill does not work.

I know here comes the question: And now Marius how can the tank surivie the 15s while holding the bubble and why is Collective Unconscious so weak now?

First of all you have to be in Diurnal you want to heal not midigate here:

- Aspected Helios + Celestial Opposition (copicat from AH)^^ + Aspected Benefic (in the OGCD) Aspected Benefic = for 15s-12s you have 600HP Heal (the direct Heal from all 3 spells) and 450HP for 4 time (not five because the GCD use from AP and AB^^)
and granting 10% damage reduction. I know its not great stand there but that is how the skill works and its uncool for raiding but that is like the skill works. Hold it or let it
-> Now to the reson why is Collective Unconscious weak:
With the new Celestial Opposition the AST get a new HoT (not creativ but hey a new hot) so Collective Unconscious have to lose the HP from 150. Or you heal much with stading there. The only thing that change is that with the new CO + CI make the same HP like the old CU. Only the people that "snapshot" the bubble lose HPS but thats okay in the thinking to kick of the 10% reduction anyways.
The HPS is the same like it was in SB (in the time you stand and hold the blue fir.... bubble). After that 15s (in the best case) you can heal again.

To hold it for its entire duration means doing nothing for 15 seconds. You know what else you could do with 15 seconds? Cast Helios 6 times for 1980 potency. People only 'flash' CU because holding it is stupidly inefficient at damage, and even healing.

I am a great fan to say that you, as AST, have to stand under the bubble to hold them. ONLY stand there but can cast under the bubble. But hey I said this since 3 years and you see what happend ^^

Earthly Star DPS increase will help greatly in Dungeons since Wall to Wall is norm, SE took away our stun, nerfed our cards percentages and tied spread to a 120s CD. All the CC we had to increase Defense, Halt enemies and buff to increase party performance is gone or barely there. i don't always look to the DPS or Tank to help ease the pain in healing because sometimes you will become disappointed. when the time comes and u need that crunch AST is weak in the Healing department the HOT's are weak, shields are laughable, and single target healing is weak. I cant even beat my 656 WHM Cure I with 2400+ Det AST. WHM regen is the same potency as the AST and its still weaker even though my AST SS is 1700+. Same weapon strength and healing Magic but the AST still doesn't do nothing better Extending Cards, HOT's, or any other buff by an extra 15s could help a little bit. but lets be real!

The Cards need to make a come back especially if AST doesn't do anything better than buff the party. I wish SE would stop with the take away and give to another, AST was perfect, SCH was Perfect, all that needed was to bring WHM up to their level. WHM lvl 80 Tempreance is lack luster, it just 10% damage reduction with an LV40 Largesse. they could of kept Largesse and made Temperance 15% Damage increase with a 10% damage reduction, yes 15% no Chain Stratagem, while adding Back Stone Skin I and II back since protect is gone. SCH might be left out till Selene is made into a 10% Party Support Pet. WHM,SCH Healers that offer Straight damage increases and an AST that offers all its original buffs non stackable unless the cohealer is an AST. everyone happy, cant stack shields or Buffs unless its AST/WHM and AST/SCH.

The Spire is the only card that needs a change

Divination
1 seal 4% with 5s added
2 seal 5% 10s added
3 seal 6% 15s added

Lord of the crowns should go back to a single attack with 3 charges with a 45s recast
Lady of the crowns should go back to a heal with 2 charges with 45s recast

Yeah, I always think that you use CU when your MP is low and LD is still on CD. However, the bubble area imo is too small to justify "doing nothing" for the full duration.

TBH, I thought that we were going to get a new trait that makes CU deployable similar to Asylum and Sacred Soil. What's worse is that they nerfed CU without giving it a buff to compensate, everyone knows that CU was the weakest of all bubbles since you are stuck in 'casting' it and the very second you move it goes away.

I was wondering if it could be a burst instead similar to how CO applies and just gives the damage reduction and HoT on a duration.

Honestly, I must be the only person who absolutely hates the need to wait 10s to get the full [healing] potency of Earthly Star. In Stormblood, I relented wanting to suggest changing Star because of how much it heals in one go, however, since Shadowbringers:

WHM
Plenary + Cure III - 750pot for 10s at the cost of GCD healing.
Plenary + Rapture - 550pot that can be stacked twice for the same CD as Earthly Star.
Both of which can be complimented further with Assize (400pot every 45s - 15s faster than Earthly Star). Plenary is the same CD as Earthly Star.

SCH
Indomitability + Fey Blessing - 750pot for 1 stack and gives gauge for Blessing's cost.
Recitation can be used to cause Indomitability to heal for a critical amount and not consume a stack, but is usable every 90s.
Sacred Soil + Fey Blessing - 750 pot over 15s and also fuels gauge for Blessing.
Aetherflow is the same CD as Earthly Star.

Basically, memorizing the best times to place Earthly Star down for both the greatest healing effect and damage effect is a bigger gate than it should be when you consider just how many fights there are in the game that have access to Star. SCH used to be far more active for pre-planning mitigation, but as time has passed, this has been downplayed more and more with some, mostly, QoL changes (Sacred's effect being immediate, no longer fishing for critlos to spread, Seraph in general). I don't see why a strong heal that the class is hinged around requires that demand when you can compare to the other two healers that can use the same amount of healing pot, or more, with little to no planning.

What I'd personally like to see:
Make Earthly Star's full healing potency available at the start and give bonus damage for pre-planning Star for maximum effect. This would serve to keep heals consistent for everyone (especially since the class is hinged around this particular skill when it comes to AoE healing), allows for flexibility for random mechanics (like Guardian and Titan) while still rewarding the players that can and do memorize fights with extra numbers.

Collective Unconscious's regeneration does suck. I could live with the 50 potency regeneration if the shield provided stayed with the full duration after use and not vanished with the next server tick. This would make it a mobile Sacred Soil and would make it 'alright' to keep the 50 regeneration potency. Otherwise, make it the same as Sacred Soil / Everlasting Flight or increase the regen pot further.

Just a note, the only regen abilities with a pot higher than 100 are Whispering Dawn (120), Regen (200) and Aurora (200) - all of the others are 100.

Just a note, the only regen abilities with a pot higher than 100 are Whispering Dawn (120), Regen (200) and Aurora (200) - all of the others are 100.

I feel you on the Earthly Star it should start at 540 and grow to 720 potency on the first 10s and last 10s should start at 720 and grow to 950 potency. Collective Unconscious just needs a higher potency and be unaffected with draw-in and push-backs.

Earthly damage is perfect. Its an a really nice spot optimization wise that you can afford to delay and even lose an earthly star if it nets you an extra malefic that would have gone to a Helios/Asp Helios.

Collective could use a buff. Currently its regen potency is 50. Its a huge meme, but I'd rather it be 75. Healing on AST is stupid good right now.

Time dialation was cool, I do think they removed it to make another time related job later.

No, our ideas are different. I actually don't think Star needs a higher potency heal - it is still an oGCD that's completely resource free (provided you don't consider time a resource). Bonus damage for pre-planning Star, sure.

If anything got me riled enough to quit this game, that would be it. If you can't create a new job without cannibalizing an existing job and stealing its most signature and unique abilities, hire more creative developers.

I may dislike the seals mechanics to the point I stop playing AST, but if duration extend skills gets added back I'd be more willing to pick up the job again.

Time dilatation as some sort of mitigation tool on the tank would be nice. Like, the next hit is absorbed and has its damage spread over 12s. (or all hit for 5s)

For instance, boss is about to do a TB dealing 100k.
It will do 0 when landing, then after you get a 'dilated time' debuff that would inflict 100k/4 every 3s for 12s.

You're not saving healing but it would be quite useful to save someone low or with too many weakness debuff.

You probably still couldn't cheese mech because whenever something is meant to kill you (like with magic rez down) you take around 999 999 dmg. So 999 999 /4 is still a tad bit too much atm

Feels more like a space mage now that even time dilatation is gone. I mean, it felt like a time mage during HW when the ratio of time magic vs '' space / astro '' themed magic was better.
Now I mean... They all scream star and astrology but not time at all...

I remember a dps slapping me when i would weave in the shield for like half a sec to proc the regen after i casted something insta.

The shield even if up for a split second gives you the regen and i think exactly that is the problem, sch has 100 potency at the cost of something, ast has the potential to just sneak out the regen without a cost. Now ast doesnt have a real resource and asking for a seal to do it might be rough. So i feel like thats the reasoning behind it.

While it is weak its free if you just weave it for regen in most dungeons you dont even care about the 10% mitigation.

No seals = Current CU
1 seal = Regen increased to 100
2 seals = Reduce CD to 60 seconds
3 seals = Extends regen to 30 seconds

Would definitely make seals more important while also giving CU a much needed buff.

Doing that would mean that DPS and healing would compete with each other. Either you'd have to save seals for CU or just hope that CU lines up with your seals.

I think CU just needs the regen increased. Seals should only be tied to cards.

This would effectively give CU a cooldown of 2 minutes with a narrow window of when it'd be worthwhile to use. Especially if it changes the cooldown or duration, because those change the healing rotation, which means I'd have to preplan and if I didn't get the 2 seals like I wanted, then I won't have CU up for the next thing. I think overall we want CU to be more flexible than it is, not less.

How would this be any different than SB AST when they extended the duration of Cards, Regens, etc. with CO and Time Dilation? It wasn't as though they all had the same CD that they would perfectly align with one another in such a way that you could always extend the duration of all of them every time you wanted; Sometimes you didn't get AoE Balance but needed the extra sustain so you would extend the duration of your regens and Lucid Dreaming to help out while other times your sustain was fine and you just wanted some extra time on your buffs to keep DPSing or playing with your cards. If you really think about it, its not so different from the old Lily System of WHM that lowered the CD of their oGCDs per lily accumulated, just with slightly more bang for your buck.

As for the whole planning argument, if your plan relies on the stars literally aligning for it to even function, that plan is a dud. I don't want an AST that plans for the best case scenario and is unable to adapt when crap hits the fan. If you are planning out an encounter and know that you need CU for a mechanic, why would the CD being reduced as a result of your seals be a deterrent in that plan? If you used it prior to the mechanic, that's on you because you knew you needed it for something and decided to say "F it" and used it anyway because.....why?

It adds a slight bit of complexity to AST but not so much that its literally gamebreaking. I mean, yes, SE can just buff CU without the whole jump thru hoops part of making it seal dependent but an extra layer of complexity is what so many people want when they heal that I just felt that adding more purpose to seals on AST would be a good way to go about doing so.

Edit: To clarify, I'm not asking for seals to be used up by CU. I'm asking that seals be given a passive benefit to CU just for having them up.

CO and TD didn't encourage you to hold on to things, except maybe Lucid. All of your buffs might not line up together, but you could freely use them when you wanted. With Divination and CU linked, you may want to delay one for the other. You might avoid using Divination until you needed CU or hold on to CU until Divination is ready.

It's not that what you proposed can't work, but putting your skills at odds with each other doesn't feel very good. It's different from SB where you would choose which skills to enhance, rather than avoid using one for the sake of another.

I'm OK with more complexity but I want the complexity to be coherent I guess, for lack of a better word. If CU were to be linked with another skill, I think Horoscope or CO would make more sense. The seals should add more depth to the cards themselves. Just my own personal view on things.

Now it is since they took away Time Dilation all that's left is space and astrology, but looking at the job lore Time Dilation is there to "dilate" time and increase the duration on every buff durations, Celestial Opposition Stops time for the enemies that's why it could stun enemies and also increase buff duration for everyone and the Arrow Arcanum basically increases the rate of time. If y'all still think that AST wasn't time mage then y'all need to start reading, even with Shadowbringers adding in Divination and Horoscope, AST looks ahead in the future and alters fate using the cards, but Job Lore seems to be ignored.

Again, I want to restate, I am NOT asking for CU to use your card seals. I am asking for seals to give a passive benefit to CU for merely having them. If I have 2 seals built up for Divination already, if I use CU, it will have a 100 potency regen with a 60 second CD but I will still have those 2 seals towards Divination. It rewards you for simply having the seals up and if not, it's just basic CU.

Changing the duration of an ability is exactly what CO and TD did. I loved it, miss it now that it's gone. However, those were specific abilities that extended abilities you already had, so it was a part of the plan to extend them.

Changing the entire recast of an ability based on progress in an unrelated gauge progress changes the healing rotation. Lightspeed has something "kind of" similar with using ED to shorten the cooldown, but it's an incremental change, and it is using ED that reduces the recast, not some status marker on ED when Lightspeed is used.

And yet, that's exactly what the old lily mechanic was for WHM back in SB and they had 3 abilities that would alter their CD vs just CU in this case so I'm calling Bullocks on this changing anything at all. Fights as scripted that you can plan down everything to the letter but if your plan requires the stars to literally align to be even feasible, than its not a very good plan to begin with. In the case that CU can get an extra use in a fight that doesn't interfere with the default plan, then it a great buff to AST's toolkit as now, you have an extra flex moment that you have something to help out with, without it causing interference to the rest of your plan. The times that it can't be used, well, then the CD reduction was useless and you just have to wait for the planned mechanic in order to use CU anyways.

So, explain to me exactly how CU having a reduced CD based on seals would "change the healing rotation" because it honestly sounds like bad planning on your part if that's what's happening.

I wish they would add buff extend into Horoscope or Divination, mostly because Horoscope since the animation is literally a clock. Since they gutted Card durations and lowered some of the HoTs, the buffs feels like it does nothing. I also want to add that CO needs to be looked at again because its heal is pretty low, shielding is pretty low and the overall contribution it was is still pretty underwhelming.

If Square doesn't want to add our stun back to Celestial Opposition, any thoughts on attaching a stun to Earthly Star?

That way, we'd have the option of detonating ES early to prevent some damage during the initial part of the fight, instead of waiting for ES to 'mature' into a bigger heal/AE.

I'd rather a slow on Gravity and Blind on Art of War, so that all healer AoEs pack some mob mitigation.

I don't think devs are ever going to give Gravity any effect at all aside from its damage. I was suggesting something I think is more in the realm of possibility. ;)

I mean it whas always awkward to use with the server tick before the patch in stormblood. After that patch it whas busted. 10 % reduced dmg for 5 seconds and a really strong Regen for just tapping the button. Because whm didn’t had dmg reduce back all the time. Now with whm having bedder mana regen, more dmg and bedder fast strong heals then whm the only point astro has it’s more mobile with malefic and light speed

Oh and don’t forget the new card system has you engaged but it feels so unsatisfying and you still deal less dmg then whm that presses 2 buttons for his dmg

I mean Holy still has stun on it along side its damage and MP, reminder that Holy was also lower in MP cost than Gravity prepatch 5.05 I think and its potency was also lower than Holy, so I wouldn't count it out. IMO if they're keeping Gravity and Art of War without a secondary effect, they should be dealing more damage than Holy since it has stun and the other AOE for healers are just raw damage.

I'm kind of not sure about the bind on art of war. Right now, AoW is the instant-cast one, so you can use it on the run. With a bind, everything you're DPSing on the run gets left behind, so it's harder to build packs.

It would be useful in some games as a defensive measure, because it lets you get ahead of whatever's chasing you. But I can't really think of many situations where it would be useful in this game outside of Eureka.

(Of course, my preferred solution is for SCH to have something more like bane than art of war. DoT-spreading seems more appropriate than nuke-spamming for SCH.)

As for gravity, what I really want is for it to get the mind sear treatment from WoW---i.e., you can target it onto either hostile or friendly targets and it still works. That way AST wouldn't have to deal with target-switching for AoE, and could just keep the tank targeted like WHM and SCH.

I am still holding out hope that they will bring back the old card effects and Time Dilation while reverting CO. I know I'll be waiting until 6.0 at this point, but SB AST was just so damn good. The Time Mage aspects of AST really helped to set it apart from the crowd, now it's just a WHM with a machine gun Balance buff. Yes it's playable, but it has lost it's uniqueness and fun.

I can almost guarantee that this won't happen. Reverting card effects might have a sliver of possibility, but buff extensions are likely permanently gone. It's clear squenix does not want us to have that.
