As Zerathor said, the only thing worth a macro is Aetherial Manipulation, which in my case I simply use a mouseover & target for easy movement.

The "2" is always a tank in my party list, regardless of 4 man, 8 man or 24 man content. This ensures that I always know where the person stays wich I am porting to - close to the boss. Bonus points because getting quick into melee position for dodging mechanics is one of the main reasons to use that skill.
There is the risk of getting cleaved when you are porting to the maintank, but normally I am using this skill only to dodge mechanics and when the boss is casting mechanics he is not cleaving the tank. -

A better question is why would you need to macro your spells? BLM is just about the most bare bones basic DPS when it comes to rotations, and it all fits and flows together pretty neatly.
Now, if you're having trouble with, like, hand mobility, or you have poor reaction time, or something else that you're looking for accessibility, you might get more results that you're looking for. Everyone will tell you macros aren't great. But hey. If you genuinely need them to play due to some personal handicap, maybe someone can help. -

Yeah the only BLM action that should really be macro'd is Aether Manipulation. An example of mouseover Aether Manip was given above that works just fine. You need this to cast Aether Manip without changing target (alternatively you could focus a specific player in your party and use <f> instead).
As mentioned above it is disadvantageous to macro your core spells due to the fact that they don't queue. To elaborate on this, queuing is where your actions will cast back-to-back with no delay because you activate the ability just before the cooldown (or spell cast) is finished. The action gets "queued" to continue immediately after the current cooldown or cast.
However... macros do not queue like this. The result is that you have to activate a macro'd action after the current cooldown or cast. You are going to lose a fraction of a second to the fact that you, as a human, are incapable of activating the macro exactly when the current cast or cooldown finishes. In addition, you have to add your connection latency to the issue, so in all you will effectively spend a large fraction of a second doing nothing. A queued action does not lose any time this way.
Over the course of a long battle, these fractions of seconds doing nothing builds up and you end up spending a large amount of total time basically doing nothing, resulting in very large losses in DPS. -

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on who you ask), macros are objectively inferior to outright using the abilities in a lot of cases. Aetherial Manipulation macro is solid if you're pugging and don't want to fly over to Player X thinking they won't be standing in orange stuff.Quote:
