Steam Version Complaint - multiple people using one computer

My partner and I share a computer.

But I own the game on Windows and they own the game on Steam. Now that the new changes have taken place if you launch FFXIV from the Steam menu you cannot use a windows based account, and if you launch FFXIV from the windows version you cannot use a steam account.

This means we're required to have two installs of FFXIV taking up almost 100gb of harddrive space.

SE can you at least make a way to convert accounts between Steam and Windows - if you can't do it via steam you should lose some money and let windows accounts convert to steam.

I guess I don't see the problem here since the restriction is based on account (who logs on). Can your partner not launch their account with Steam and you launch your account with the windows launcher using the same game files?

I understand your situation but this means you can NEVER play together with your partner because you share PC, I never seen such a situation Partner that play same game usually like to partner together online T_T

The steam files can be launched without Steam and you'll be able to play on a non-steam account. I don't see the reason for 2 copies here.

I would just get another computer. You'll probably have enough money saved to get one before you get an actual response from SE about it. :v

Or just get an extra drive in your PC?

I have a 250Gb M.2 SSD, 500Gb SSD and a 4TB HDD.

Up to 1Tb SSD's are cheap and for normal HDD's you can get 2Tb for very cheap as well.

Getting a new PC because you're running out of disk space is just a waste of money, just replace with higher capacity or add a higher capacity drive instead.

Getting a new PC because you're running out of disk space is just a waste of money, just replace with higher capacity or add a higher capacity drive instead.

He means they should get another PC so they can play together. Sharing the one PC means they can never play at the same time.

You can get some dirt cheap laptops good enough to run XIV. Just hook up a USB keyboard/mouse and a monitor to it and you have yourself a new PC.

I have this issue too, but Windows Launcher? Where do I get that? I've been using the Steam Launcher for my PC playtime and my main account uses including the Expansions from the SE Store. A second account I created and don't use anymore used the Steam DLC and is linked to Steam so I can't use that.

How do I get around this problem? Trying to boot up my account via Steam tells me it's not Registered to it while my account I checked on Mogstation is totally fine and doesn't say anything otherwise.

You run the files in the boot folder called : ffxivboot.exe.

It is under \SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\boot\ffxivboot.exe.

I can not help you with steam , since i do not use it for FF XIV.

Go to the game's installation folder, go to boot subdirectory and launch the ffxivboot.exe from there. Maybe create a shortcut while at it. This way it won't launch via Steam.
