Does anyone drink and heal?

It's not a constant or habit but...out of curiosity, (mind you I don't do extremes / 'endgame' stuff but roulette etc)
Last night I had a (Ehem) few and after a rather smooth run the thought came to me, does anyone else?

After years on (pre 5.0) AST I could easily toss out effective cards like a blackjack dealer after some drinks but had a few Oh SH moments last night but nothing a few ogcd would worry about.

Is anyone so comfortable in their respective healer role as to imbibe and keep 3 (or more) other people from around the globe, alive? Also interested in reading funny anecdotes on the matter. The healer thread is pretty wound up lately, I'd like to hear any of our whimsical sides. Thanks! (^_^)/"

During Stormblood I was in such a bad Ridorna Lighthouse party that I literally got out my wine bottle and started drinking just so I could ease the pain of healing. Made the run way more amusing. However, on a daily basis? No. There have also been a few times with friends where we played the drinking game where if someone dies, for example, we took a shot lol.

I will never understand why people think they look cool when posting about how they're playing drunk or high.

I don't know about the "looking cool" stuff, but drunk playing is very nice. Especially with friends.

Oh, is THAT what you got out of my post? pity... The question was for those skilled enough to handle the lives of others well enough to sip a drink. C'est la vie.

I hate alcoholic beverages. They all seem to have a strong chemical taste. To be fair, I'm the sort of person who sometimes can't eat anything, even white bread, because it tastes too strong.

Not yet, but I've certainly had teams that have made me want to. The healer changes they did this expac made me want to drink myself into a coma tbh.

Only with friends and only when were all doing it. DO NOT PUG while drinking.

I think you need a drink. Also you should read the first sentence of the last paragraph of the OP. This is essentially akin to asking, "what do you like to do during MSQ cutscenes?" Nothing to do with being cool.

^ This. Don't be like the tank I got in Ala Mhigo who said they were drunk, pulled everything up to the first wall, ate up all my lustrate charges, died, called us idiots, and left the group.

Let's just say I'm very, very comfortable. I've bin SCH waaay too long. Some nights I get reeeaaally comfortable along with the rest of our (rather small) FC. I think it's rather common

Absolutely. Not every night, but sometimes sure. I strongly enjoyed when the healer food I used in Heavensward was Frozen Spirits - Basically a banana margarita if I remember correctly. Made it more enjoyable to act like my static was driving my character to alcoholism.

While it's fun to say all the mistakes my friends are making are causing me to have to drink, in the end I'm just a social drinker at this point and if a group is gathered sometimes I'll have 2-3 drinks over the course of a night. I get a little more relaxed and have been told I'm a happy drinker, so that's a small boon, as I do get frustrated during progression at times.

Since I'm not a lightweight, it has little impact on my performance so long as I'm pacing well. I don't drink to the point of drunkenness, just the tingle or buzz. As with many things, knowing your limits and moderating yourself leads to a pretty fun time with friends.

Edit: Never forget the water if you're having a few. When you do overdo it a little, you'll dodge the repercussions of dehydrating your brain.

Games are usually the way I relax and unwind from work and/or class. So I've yet to log into ffxiv without a drink in hand.

I respect that. I certainly have had my fair share of alcoholics as well, it's why I never drink yo get drunk, I just have a small mixed drink typically and will call it there.

I think I would have to have a drink to play any other healer than whm and I really don't enjoy playing that (I don consider it the only "enjoyable" healing job because the other ones got cut into waaayy too much)

This. Nothing steams me more then a tank or healer that has to announce in chat that they're drunk or hung over, like okay??? Am I going to get healed?? Are you going to keep aggro or do we have to kick you??

Exactly. If you have to go around telling people you're drinking or you're high while playing, I immediately think you're a huge embarrassment that I never want to be around again. One time I was in The Vault and someone else, I can't remember what job they were, ran right to the exit at the end, said something like "I'm so high lol" and then left and I cringed so hard I pulled a muscle.

Please get more interesting personality traits besides "I drink". Not only is it more healthy, but people probably won't find you to be as insufferable.

To be quite honest, 90% of the time that I'm playing this game, I've either had a few drinks, or am in the process of doing so. Never been impaired enough to perform poorly or completely fumble...

Well... there was this one time when doing treasure maps I was completely wasted and the alcohol hit me like an anchor. I was going to get another map from my retainers, but ended up afk'ing and passing out, only to wake up a few hours later in my dinner of marconi. I was playing with friends in that instance, so they knew. But outside of that instance, most people probably wouldn't even know I drink while playing.

Wall to wall pulls, Ex primal farming, roulettes, etc... it's all manageable. Never really found healing/tanking stressful (and it's all I really do in this game), so drinking while doing it really isn't an issue for me. However, I know my limits and I won't queue up for duties when I reach a certain point.

For me, good dosage of alcohol intake is actually good to ease stressed / bored situation. I felt more relaxed but still able to perform my function even better, I could even have situational awareness better in raids. And by what I meant good dosage is just enough to feel the effect but not strong enough to make me drunk, let alone blurry vision or speak nonsense in group.

I'm guilty of wanting to have a drink after a long day at work to wind down and relax. But jeez...

When I read the title I thought: "What should be worrying about sipping my tea while doing a dungeon run?". So I kinda thought this is another discussion about fast pulling Tanks and Healers that can't Keep up because they are choking on their tea.

However! Regarding consuming alcoholic beverage... Guilty. Although I don't know why it seems to be a big deal for a lot of people. It's not that I get fully hammered. I just enjoy a glass of wine while doing a dungeon. Looks like some peopel assume that you just are a full drunkhead as soon as you even touch alcohol.

"Looks like the healer is drunk again." No-one ever. You can drink while playing and still be a decent person and a good player. You can also be completely sober and still are an asshole who plays like shait.

Haven't done it when I'm healing but I have done it while tanking, and even more so in Frontlines/Rival Wings.

I remember when I was on Primal a while back I did a run of Shatter with Adders about 65% sloshed. I told my alliances and was having trouble typing out exactly what I wanted to say but you can get the general idea of it.

No one was doing callouts so I decided to take it upon myself to notify people of when small/big ice was spawning and flagging points to either pinch or defend. My callouts were basically "focus red, thyg hv more points" and "BG ICE, HD SOU LT THM FIGHT IN MID"

We ended up winning by about 40 points, everyone was shocked, I got like three comms, turned off my computer and went to bed.

I love how this thread is either "Drinking is bad, mmmkay" or "YEH MAN FUGGIT LESGO WOOOOO PABST BLOO RIBBON YEEEHAWWW".

Like, are they literally the only two options when alcohol is involved?

Last night I had a bottle of cider while I healed several duties, including The Burn.

I have on more than one occasion done half a bottle of JD and done Orbonne Monastery.

I've also had a cider and a shot chaser and done Susano EX.

And there's been multiple times I've not drunk at all.

Not sure if it's a generational thing (not gonna lie, I am incredibly old, which isn't a good thing I assure you) but people here seem either too sanctimonious or just too immature to understand alcohol.

But eh, you do you, I guess.
