Suggestions to improve Triple Triad

Hello, I’ve been an avid Triple Triad card collector, and I have some stuff to say. I’d like to name some suggestions for improving certain things.
1) I have been a fan of the card game for a long while, and been hunting down the cards, going as far as planning ahead when I restart my subscription, to be able to get the most tournaments out of it. This is because the tournaments do take place every other week. I feel like this is incredibly restrictive and limiting. The game already provides things like the Cactpot lottery, where the period of receiving your rewards and participating in the event once again are not in conflict with each other, so I see no reason to have it be this restrictive for the Triple Triad players.
2) When 2 players get a tie on the scoreboard, it’s up in the air who goes first or last. Several people with the same score could land on spot 20, and loose a chance to win a prize, because of rng. That seems terribly unfair
3) Certain tournament-only cards are so hard to get. I’ve been in every tournament for a year now, and I still don’t have a Lightning card. I’d actually rather buy that card for 10 million MGP than to keep running these tournaments. Primal mounts have the whole thing where players can collect tokens to eventually get them, so… shouldn’t Triple Triad players be given similar opportunities? Much like mounts, its something where one competes against other players. It’s a pain to have to win against a NPC hundreds of time to win a card, but it feels like tournaments are much more annoying in this regard. Some people might have already gotten the card for the Top 3 winners, but will still try and get to the top to get more card packs to get the card they need. I think this is kind of unfair.
4) When an alliance raid ends and certain cards are dropped as loot, people roll for it, but sometimes it's people who own the card already. They simply don’t remember, so they roll for it. We keep having these things in game, because “some people might want to trade the card in for MGP”, but that sounds so ridiculous! Some players might have done a run hundreds of times, but they have to keep doing it, because someone might want 500 MGP. Couldn’t we set a thing up where only people who don’t own a card can roll NEED, while those who have it can only roll GREED? Or…. could you just add an npc for the cards dropped in “The Royal City of Rabanastre”? That would work too
5) I find it a tad annoying that whenever a match against another player starts, I have to remember that I might not be Blue, but rather Red. This is confusing, as when playing against NPCs, you’re always blue, so it seems confusing when that’s no longer the case. Maybe not a major thing, and it’s more realistic this way it is, but it just bugs me whenever I partake in the tournament

I believe the second point is incorrect. I'm pretty sure if two players are tied the players are posted on the scoreboard in the order they posted the scores. So basically the person that played first shows up first on the scoreboard. I don't think it's RNG.

I don't mind tournaments being every other week or the cards being rare. It's a prize in a server-wide tournament, it should have some meaning. The cards also drop from the packs you get from placing in a tournament. But for me honestly, I think there should be cards that are tournament only, or that there should be cards that have tournament editions. I remember when I finished in the top three the first time, I was a lot happier that I thought I would be. Really felt like I had accomplished something big in the game.

Completely agree on the fourth point. People who own the card already should only be able to roll Greed, anyone without the card should be able to roll need.

I agree that you shouldn't have to beat an NPC so many times to get a card, but I don't think that tournaments are worse. At least in a tournament the prize is an ultra-rare card. I've had to beat NPCs dozens and dozens of times to times to get a card wasn't even 5*, some are low as 3*. No need for these types of cards to be such rare drops.

But, to me the one thing SE should address before anything as far as Triple Triad goes.

1) Players should able to unlock one more deck improvement at least. We should at least be able to unlock the ability to have one 5*and one 4* in our deck at the same time. No reason for 4* cards to be irrelevant in the game.

I appeciate the response, and respect you having a different opinion on some of these.

And.... yeah, guess 4 star would be very neat, and would make plenty of NPCs much easier to beat, especially considering how they can use many strong cards, when we're restricted.

EDIT: Also, thanks for clarifying the tie thing. It's less unfair, but I find it annoying none the less.

YES this please at 200 or so cards please let us add one 4 star and one 5 star card to our deck!

The MGP reward for the tournament could do with an update too. You can place in the top 20 in a tournament only available every 2 weeks and receive 28k MGP, yet you can concede all your games instantly in the Verminion Tournament and receive over 100k MGP.

I stopped doing the tournament months ago. 20 mind numbingly dull games for 3 Lahabrea cards got old very fast.

I'm new to FF14 and triple triad, but I would like to have time to think against NPCs, why only 30 seconds?

I get in player vs player, they need to keep it fast, but why can't I spend time trying to work out my next move against the computer? Especially as I am just learning all the rules and sometimes it can be quite complicated to work out more than 1 move ahead. It would be cool to spend as long as I need to work out the best strategy against NPCs.

This is by far my biggest gripe with TT. 4* cards are completely worthless. Utterly and completely worthless. You should be able to put a 4* and 5* card in your deck

1) completely agree. The time-period is utter garbage. So are the rewards.

2) it’s not random as there are tie-breakers including win/loss rate and others

3) I would prefer if you could sell certain TT cards on the MB or something instead of strictly for MGP back to an NPC. being able to exchange gear tokens for cards would also be an easy fix.

4) is utterly garbage that they haven’t implemented it yet. It’s ridiculous to see that people can get completely effed over on getting a reward when others already have it but forget or don’t care. Mounts are set up that way. Why aren’t cards? Why can’t you mouse over a card and it tell you if you have it or not? This whole thing seems egregiously overlooked

5) I’ve been screwed by this especially as a new player. Having to context switch is just poor UX. You should always be blue. The other player should always be red.

I would also appreciate integration with the mobile card game they already made which is a micro-transaction hell. Seriously? “Crystals” to play the game? If they would just make it available to people with subscriptions to play TT matches without the BS crystal limitations and allow subbed players to use their in-game collection, people would actually play it and there would be a reason to actually use the mobile app.

I was thinking perhaps the Triple Triad tourneys be restricted to NPC's, therefore its just a draw, I also like the point of having tourneys every week, perhaps they can randomize the rules for the tourneys so people can have a chance of winning them. Also if you've entered the tourney and ranked on the board, perhaps collect a token and then after 100 tourneys getting the card for the tourney. I know not perfect, maybe 50 tokens for the card since its every other week. I'm beyond frustrated, I've been trying for Frion for over 3 years now.

if they improve the shiitake drop rate from NPCs, that would go a long way for me.

At least liken it to mount farming, where ~20 wins should automatically get you one of your missing cards, for example.

As it stands, sometimes people go 40+ wins without a drop that they need.

2 more things:
1) I keep running Stormblood Alliance Raids to get the triple triad cards that I'm still missing. It's hard to get the raids running these days, and I see so many ways to make getting these cards so much easier, and less stressful:
-add an NPC to win these cards from like you did with the previous expansions
-OR: add a restriction not allowing players who own the cards to roll on them, at least not NEED
-OR: add a function to let people look for cards in their collection. I had a player lot for the card just in case, because he wasn't sure if he owned it or not. It feels like such a waste

2) Primal tokens could be exchanged for triple triad cards too! If the mounts get an option where you can trade 99x of their item, why not add something of the sort for cards too?
