Will anything be done to address technical step?

Particularly the fact that technical step overwrites an already existing technical step.

I'd honestly like to see something be done to address this considering how you get completely screwed over with your esprit gauge if you technical step before the other dancer(s).

It would be nice if they could just let the esprit buffs stack and let the technical step damage buffs overwrite each other. I don't know of any other job that can screw over someone else of the same job's dps just by using a skill after them.

Ninja's Trick Attack gets overwritten to. If I'm in a party I just use Tech Step for damage and try not to worry about what the other DNC is doing. But I don't do savage stuff and if you are you normally only have one of a job there anyways so... (But I also agree with you to)

if you have multiple DNCs in your party and that is really an issue for you, maybe you're supposed to communicate...

I don't pay attention to what other DNC are doing. I am looking put out the most DMG I can, so whether it overwrites or not is not something I care about.

The issue they bring up isn't really about your party buff affects the party but rather how that buff affects you, if I'm reading that right.

Technical Finish, for the duration, allows all party members to grant you Esprit. If another DNC overwrites your buff that in turn also removes all that Esprit you could have gotten.

Expecting the buffs to be overwritten is sensible. Most, if not all, buffs work that way - assuming they share the exact same icon. The secondary resource being lost completely for using your biggest attack seems like an oversight. The only other job I can think of right now that'd suffer similarly is Monk with Brotherhood, except if there's two Monk's there's absolutely no downside to holding off using it but Technical Step is the hardest hitting attack you have and is your dump window.

Yeah this is more about normal, damage doesn't matter much in normal but it's still super annoying.

Shouldn't it be a non issue with a small amount of communication?
One Dancer uses Tech Step, Second Dancer waits out the Duration and uses theirs. Now your recasts are offset and shouldn't happen at the same time.

ASTs have the same problem with Divination and Cards in general. Pretty sure Monk Brotherhood is the same. Dragoons, SCHs etc. Everyone has important buffs that can overwrite each other without some communication.

Talk to people.

If it were just a buff, sure, but it's also a huge attack that you wanna fit as much as you can in, preferably 4+ Saber Dances from the esprit it generates alone. It's tied to your opener and timed with other CDs to have a decent consistent window. Kinda like SB MCH (though it's not nearlg as brutal). Communication mitigates the issue - if the other DNC even fares - but it delays your opener and potentially throws off your CDs forcing you to delay later during the fight. And hope this doesn't cause issues later when it comes off CD.

It's not a huge issue. I'd file it personally as a QoL fix if it's ever addressed.

Which is exactly why they shouldn't overwrite each other.

The worse dancer will always be the one to use technical step second considering how the opener goes, and that either forces them to wait for the worse dancer to use their technical step first and lose dps in the process from holding the cooldown, or just lose 1 or 2 saber dances because their esprit's been overwritten.

No class should cut into the dps of another person of the same class, it's poor design for content where your party members have completely random classes.

This was a problem with brotherhood originally which they fixed later. So the damage doesn't stack but both will be able to get their stacks from it. They should just make the same change for dancer (actually it should have been this way from this start since it is a problem that was already solved).

It is annoying, though generally buffs have always worked like this (e.g Battle Voice, Astrologian cards).

Could they possibly make it so that the Esprit can stack? So like if two Dancers use Technical Step at the same time, the buff will be overwritten by whoever used it last, but both Dancers still put the Esprit status on all party members? That way it’s less of a worry if it gets overwritten, since you’ll still be able to get the Esprit bonus and don’t have to hold it for too long (which will put a dent in your (r)DPS)

In roulettes and random content things die so fast it doesn’t matter, but in raids it will mean no one stacks dancers.

This is why they overwrite and you should never expect it to change, if they could stack 40% dmg up for party for 20s every 2 mins would be a bit nuts, something would take a hit on dnc and i don't think you want us weaker for sake of convenience because you couldn't communicate when you are using yours to a random dnc you may never see again.

I never thought about this, but its a good point. The best fix for this would be to separate the damage buff and the Esprit generation buff. The damage buff gets overwritten but the Esprit buff could then be stacked. It might look weird having so many buffs but that probably wouldn't be a major problem.

G'luck with that with the YoRHA Raid. Or any 70 raid.

Though I'm fairly certain no one's asking for DNC Technical Finish dmg buffs to stack, just that an overwrite shouldn't also remove your Esprit generation effect to you personally. A similar example already given was Monk Brotherhood doesn't stack but overwriting it as another Monk won't screw over the previous Monks Chakra generation.

In statics or party finder sure, nobody wants 2 dancers.

But in pug groups the worse dancer, aka the one who technical finishes second, won't give a hoot about the fact that they just deleted 1800+ potency from your rotation by overwriting your technical finish.

Nobody wants to delay their hardest hitting attack because it'll be overwritten by someone of the same job.
