Getting Japanese DirectX11 errors when logging in after Windows updates.

I see there are many similar threads from the past couple of weeks, so I figured I'd throw mine into the mix as well.

Yesterday morning I installed several Windows updates. Since they were completed, I've been unable to log into the game, getting the following error message every time I try:

I have tried the following in no specific order:

Rolling back to a system restore point prior to the updates.
Uninstalling/reinstalling the latest AMD video drivers.
Uninstalling/reinstalling FFXIV.

I can launch the game in DX9, but it doesn't run well in borderless windowed mode, so I'd like to get the issue with DX11 resolved.

FWIW, my issues that were similar (I started the other thread like this) started happening right after the windows updates as well.

Saylen, could you try doing a cleanboot? Open the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC.

Done, but I'm still getting the same errors as above when I try to log in.

For what it's worth, my husband has not had this problem, and the only pending Windows update on his PC is a Windows Servicing Stack Update, KB4490628. I'm not able to uninstall that update from my machine to see if it's causing the issue, though.

Do you recall anything changing/updating on your PC that coincides with this? Do you notice any patterns to the crash? Are there any programs running in the back ground when Final Fantasy XIV crashes?

Nothing changed besides running Windows updates and updating my video driver.

As for patterns, it's whenever I try to log into the game. I can open the launcher and log in just fine, but when I click the "Play" button, the game client comes up completely black, and a few seconds later I get the error message in my first post.

I have tried launching FFXIV with nothing running in the background with the same results.

- Set compatibility mode to Windows 7 ( To change compatibility mode, right click on the exe file (Default location: C:\Program Files (x86)\SquareEnix\Final Fantasy XIV - A Realm Reborn\boot\ffxivboot.exe), right click it and select ‘Properties.’ Select the ‘Compatibility’ tab and select Windows 7.)

I tried the clean boot on your advice earlier in the thread with no luck.

I have tried the compatibility mode before as well, but I just now gave it another shot and I still can't get into the game.

I tried a few more things today without any luck:

Uninstalled FFXIV, removed the config folder in Libraries/Documents/My Games/, and reinstalled the game.
Performed a minimal boot with only essential system drivers and network capabilities enabled.
Ran another Windows Update.

Is there anything else we can try? Or is the issue outside the scope of my hardware and software settings?

Just wanted to update, in case anyone else is in my position:

I did finally get this resolved by performing the free Windows 10 OS upgrade and turning off compatibility mode on the FFXIV boot executable.
