Anyone else getting really frustrated with the limitations of 8 people for events?
Having to constantly sit people out and wait etc etc.
8+ contents needs to land in this game asap.
Anyone here with me?

Get a smaller LS, no need for 100 members.
I think they need to add content for even smaller groups, to be honest. There's a lot of waiting around for everyone to be ready as it is.
Hopefully you voted for large scale battle content in the poll then, I know I did.
Fact is, there's still not enough people in the game to support this yet. Most endgame shells are small, and many of the skilled shells have a difficult time finding other skilled players to join their ranks. For content like this we'd likely have to merge all skilled endgame shells as one and I'm sure many would be opposed to this. Unless of course the content would be accessible to an unlimited amount of players (open world free for all). But where's the fun/challenge in that?
Wait for 2.0 I'd say.
More party size flexibility would be nice however I understand that some content is designed to be balanced around a 8 person party.
Hopefully in 2.0 they are planning for more types of activities. Sometimes I want to solo, duo, light party, full party, and even larger groups.
8person endgame means linkshells are pointless and just social hubs. 8man = static players not pugs in linkshell or swapping in and out. need to at 2.0 and beyond give us full linkshell events or this game will become void ..at the least linkshells will be void because everyone will need to go find there 8man group to be with. no one wants to sit around waiting for strategies or be put in when it's farm time only. all mmo's with small man crap ...only time people are loged in is when event time, anyone not in endgame 8 or 16 are just alts and people so casual they don't care or not ready for that stuff and by time they are the rest will be onto better things.
the real endgame is 30+ stuff that takes full linkshells, if all mmo's are going to stop using this type then i don't see myself playing mmo's for that much longer in my life. i can play offline games these days with 4people online ..even rpg's for that matter, not gonna be arsed for small content as the meat of mmo's just cause they easier/cheaper to create and too many casuals with pockets of money playing in mmo's now.
lol by way i voted for large scale pve in the poll too, hopefully the polls show people like large scale stuff. if not gw2 will have open world stuff, not really the same as endgame but it's something that can have 20-50people all around the zone ...least for the first year of it's life.
I'd rather have 4 (low man) content. 8 is fine as it is..but why is there no alliance option? I find that very weird...
When there is 8+ man content that leads to people fighting over drops, arguing, waiting forever to get a drop...:/
Sorry to inform you of this... but that is what LSs are... really they are social hubs. They are going to add in Free Companies which are supposed to act like guild/clans in a way. If a LS was really meant to be like a guild then you would only be able to have 1 LS. Also they did say they are going to be adding in alliances and multi-group content...
The cat is bemused =-.-=
The game needs more 2-4 man content before 8+man. As it is, there's a huge gap between what a small party can do compared to a larger one. Obviously not expecting massive dungeon raids, but content deliberately aimed at ~4 man parties would be a nice change and something to do for all the small linkshells (considering some LS are just a couple of friends).
8+man stuff could be great but I think the priority needs to be on low-mid size parties (and obviously continuing 8-man stuff for the bigger LS out there).
i'd really welcome some 4+ man content as for the current state of game.
with 2.0 and hopefully more interesting content we'll get 8+.
just getting tired of needing a group of 8 to kill weak mobs in a dungeons that i could easily do with 4, or just run past them, but then being in need for more people for just the boss.makes no sense.
requirements just suck at this point of the game, i'd rather welcome more content like strongholds where i can decide with how many ppl i will go, and which bosses will be possible to defeat with that setup.
It'll certainly be nice if they'll eventually add content for groups larger than just 8 people
It is a bit annoying not being able to have an alliance.. best thing that can be done for now is letting people outside of pt join in (excluding zones that limit number of party members for instance). Otherwise it takes up time doing the same event multiple of times.
I'd like 16 man content. But not a lot of it, make super awesome, super rare items drop from it. Maybe 1 or 2 things in the game per level cap that even require an alliance.
So much this.
There's too much "8man or bust". It's nice to see Dzemael Lowered for 4-8 man, but still it's not exactly BALANCED for 4man.
I remember seeing current 8man content being adjusted and phased into lower man content; however, I'd like to see some pretty top-end current content aimed at a 4man base or so.
isnt hamlet defense coming next patch is what tc is asking for? even gather and craft classes can take part in it.
but i could be wrong , i dont know what hamlet defense is about lol.
Whats the point when we can only see 20 people on screen at any time x.x.
Funny over the last 2-3 days I have had a problem getting 8 people to make a group.
Perhaps its mainly because people are more interested in only getting their AF still I dunno but even so, not eveyone has an active LS of 100 members.
If you have that many people make two groups.
I would agree, I think Hamlet may allow for large groups to join together in fighting but it may work off as more of a worldwide thing and not a self contained instance fora shell, so it may not be the same thing. But of course groups that can be more organized may find themselves having an easier time getting through task then those that may go in blindly.
As for why there is so much 8 man content atm. it's the perfect middle ground. Adding 16+ man content just isn't that wise at this point of the game, at least not until the population is settled in the server merge. While your shell may have more people, what point is it to make 16 man content when you still have people shouting to start a party for 8 man content.
On the plus at least only a small amount of content is restricted to once a day (Ifrit/moogled is I"m not mistaken) and things like dungeons can pretty much be done as many times as possible. It'll balance itself out soon enough though just like above with Hamlet, it could act as a hub for large groups to play together without having to take turns.
what they need to do is remove the pt size restriction from entry requirements, not everyone needs full 8 pt to complete the content
I'm fine with 8 man content for now. hard enough getting 8 good people to do things with atm.
They need to remove the 8-man requirement on dungeons. If my 6 adventurers want to take it on without full party bonus, then let us PLAY the game. Artificial restriction just ruins people's fun. Difficulty of content should be what sets the bar on how large a party you need to bring.
No matter the raid size you will often always have to have people sitting out. 8, 10, 16, 20, 25 ect. I seen this in so many games you have to overfill your roster to make sure you can still do something.
WoW for example has 10 and 25 man raids. People who make a 10 man group usually get like 12-13 because there are times when people can't make it. While someone with a 25 man raid usually get around 30 people for their roster.
Bigger raid sizes still means some people will still have to sit out.
8+ party content? Why? I never really saw the point, there is no fun in a massive zerg fest. Anything that requires a full linkshell is hardly a threat at all, I fail to see the challenge or the fun in effectively zerging something to death. That just me. I'd more like to see more 2-4 man party content, things to remind me of the console ff games. I personally think 8 is almost too many.
Idk about you but its rare for an entire shell to be available to do anything. And I'm in two rather active shells. And really if you have a whole bunch of ppl wanting to do dungeons or primals, just make multiple parties of shell members. There's no reason why you can't make multiple 8-man parties, + or - a couple randoms to fill class roles. As far as giving linkshells something to do, linkshell content is unnecessary. Linkshells decide for themselves what they want to do. Organize runs with multiple squads, get achievements, go exploring, try to take down some baddies in mor dhona...how can you honestly say linkshells are irrelevant without ls content?
People rely way too much on a game telling them what to do. Make your own fun, make your own adventure, and make your own linkshell events. If you need a zergfest to give your ls purpose, then you're definitely doing it wrong. Thats just laziness on the leader's part. If thats you, consider organizing stuff yourself or letting someone else take over. Not everyone is fit for that job after all, leading is tough work. One of the primary reasons why I will never lead an ls in my life..dont have the time or the energy to do it properly. Course I can admit this, most ppl cant.
8+ content lacks fun imo. Though, they could implement dungeons that require multiple parties of 8 to clear, or boss battles with multiple opponents that would require a couple parties. Honestly though, 2-4 man content would be much more interesting. 8+ only works when its engaged in a really creative way; zerg fests just aren't fun to me.
I think it's good for AF because its "artifact armor" not suppose to be super easy though it is.
Definitly should work on a better search function an party camps instead.
Greetings!
In 1.22 we are actually planning to lower the required number of participants for Cutter's Cry and Aurum Vale.
Also, for those of you who are curious as to whether alliances will be added in 2.0, you will be happy to know that we will be adding the ability to form alliances as well as content to go along with it!
Alliances are all well and good but I'd like to see them really perfect 8-man content before moving onto 16/24/32/etc...
Glad they are lowering the required members, now if I can find people who's willing to come with me... lol
Only if people used the party search function more... I've been playing around with it since I see JP players always shouting to join from party search feature and to read the comment it's really really convenient.
1. You click on party
2. Click on start inviting party or w/e the option on the right side (I'm on JP client sorry dunno what they put in the NA one)
3. Choose the quest or Instance raid or w/e, if you're lazy like me just leave that one alone.
4. Choose the members you looking for... again if you're lazy like me just leave it alone
5. Continue 4 if you need other class/jobs, if not go to 6
6. Type in the comment - HERE is the important part where you type what quest, raid, event you're doing what jobs you're looking, any other comments I normally put everything here.
7. Done
Now for the people actually looking for party... it's easy... just hit the party and hit search for parties and since in my case I didn't set up any specific event, quest it will show up and all they have to do is read the comment and join.
Only issue I got with this feature... can't use the auto translate in the comments... WHY!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! it will help all players
Should of posted the party search thing in another thread... lol sorry
Pretty sure the difficulty is going to be same till 2.0 until they implement feature where you can choose the difficulty before entering.
This is great news... thank you!
I am amazed on how much people want FFXIV to be more Causal/Solo/Low man to be honest this is an MMORPG = Short for massively multiplayer online role-playing game it is a type of game genre. MMORPGs are online role-playing multiplayer games which allow thousands of gamers to play in the game's evolving virtual world at the same time via the Internet. All i can say is for people moaning about not enough solo content or they wish everything was able to enter with 2-4 people . You are killing the genre and not slowly but rapidly. This game released with solo and causal players the main focus and look what happened , Now we have no competition between linkshells nor feeling of accomplishment . 1.21 was a great patch for the game not for the players who have been drooling for something to do imo it was too easy for everything . HNMs with long timers has already to be said never to be seen on FFXIV and all content that would matter would be instance . for the while they plan on adding alliance content but for strong holds where content is good from patch to patch . Not here to crap on the game i have started to enjoy it minus not getting my Ifrit Bow because Yoshida hates me (on-going Joke in Ls) i enjoy it and look foward to getting rid of classes and completely be all jobs . And answering content and giving full detail on MMO content is a thing of the past those who are like me are old relic's of the past
