Is WAR's enmity generation meant to be totally bonkers compared to the other tanks?

Even moreso then pre-SB, they seem to generate insane amounts of enmity thanks to Inner Release, to the point where in equivalent gear as DRK my enmity level is frequently dipping into the yellow or green when tanking alongside them.

It's not really an issue for dungeons or raids as all tanks still generate way too much enmity for heals/DPS to pull aggro, but it does make them objectively better for content like FATEs and hunts where your credit is tied to enmity generation.

They have higher burst. Once tye burst is over so is their ebmity. Drks should be catching up un the 80 seconds before inner release is back up. Enmity is just a purely damage item now. War has a strong burst and then flatlines damage. You shpuld be able to catch them as the fight goes on.

Even in prolonged fights I can't keep up with them in enmity, and I'm fairly positive I'm not doing anything horribly wrong rotation wise.

In what context were you having issue "keeping up?" If it was hunts, then it's entirely possible they were spamming Tomahawk for maximum enmity.

Izsha is right, WAR just has the highest burst of all tanks.

In what situation "can't [you] keep up with them in enmity"? FATEs, trial, raid? Why would you even try to keep up in enmity? What's the reason behind this? What other tank job did you use to determine that?

There is also Provoke that generates 38k enmity points (380k in tank stance), Equilibrium with x0.6 enmity multiplier, Thrill of Battle, Shake It Off. Maybe they used it, so they got extra enmity? (Storm' Path heal doesn't generate enmity, not sure about Nascent Flash/Glint, but I doubt it.)

Edit: Tomahawk has a little higher enmity multiplier than Lightning Shot and Unmend (x7 instead of x5), but that can't be the reason either - except they spam it, thus playing like deadweight.

S rank hunts. I like holding top enmity on them because they oft have sensitive mechanics that can kill people if the tank isn't positioned properly (IE, Ixtab's tank buster being a radial AoE that will murder all of the melee if the tank is standing too close...which happens way too often).

I just fought one that lasted about three minutes with DRK. The WAR was not spamming Tomahawk, but consistently kept my enmity in the green/yellow up until the moment they died from greeding a one-shot mechanic...but then I lost enmity to a PLD in mostly 340 gear (No 350 weapon and mostly green accessories) who again was not spamming their ranged attack.

The only explanations I can think of are DRK just being that bad or Provoke still being able to generate enmity on hunts despite them being immune to the taunting component of it because I maintained near 100% uptime and was keeping everything on CD while avoiding MP/blood gauge overfloow.

EDIT: I'm blind/dumb since I asked the players in question and they were in fact just spamming ranged attacks for enmity. I guess it's good if the hunt is already melting and you want ensure you get full credit, but when there's a low number of people around, it seems kind of silly. WAR still has a definite advantage thanks to Inner Release, but probably not nearly as big as I imagined.

It's possible they had raid buffs that you didn't or tanks that shirked them. Assuming nobody is padding enmity with Tomahawk or the equivalent, GNB should generate the most enmity by virtue of dealing the most damage.

You are right about that Provoke statement that hunts are immune to it, so no bonus enmity here.

Can you tell me what your equipment looks like? (And I think you meant PLD in 440 gear?)

Right now DRK has the lowest dps of all tanks, even lower than WAR. So, if you "fight" against another tank on roughly the same item and skill level, you will lose aggro to them in a long run. DRK doesn't have any ability to "boost" their enmity either, like e.g. Equlibrium (maybe shields with TBN?)

In my experience as a drk, it's paladins whose enmity I can't keep up with, not warriors.

Living Shadows does not provide enmity. DRK falls behind naturally anyway.

WAR have the highest burst out of all the tanks, but their overall damage is actually currently one of the lowest if not the lowest if you have a DRK who knows what they are doing and performing well. Its because of the crits they generate more emnity plus their equilibrium if they are using it on cooldown.

Nascent Flash healing does generate enmity actually, so WAR definitely generates the most threat if they're using it properly.
