Convalescence, Anticipation, Awareness. Why'd we lose these? Sure they weren't great but I dunno, I'm feeling the pinch early on in tank dungeons or vs Mob chain pulls. And yet Interject is still around, great thanks for that.
What made me make this topic was I did a run of Brayflox as PLD. I'm not terribly behind on gear I thought so I shouldn't take that much damage. And the healer seemed okay though he did admit he lagged a time or two.
But I have a couple instances of "I don't have anything ELSE for this!". Like okay, Stun, Rampart, Reprisal and... okay I'm out of of Mitigation. I can try to stun again but that quickly stops being useful.
Your thoughts on them? Should have kept them or worked them into other skills? Glad to see them get pruned off? Doesn't matter after X point so it's eh? I'd like to know.
Personally I say remove Interject, put the Interrupt on Lowblow so it's useful vs Mobs and Bosses, and give Convalescence back. It seems like a good ability to pop when you have dots on you to help your Healer out and I'm unsure how Mitagation besides Shields work with Dots.

Convalescence was merged into Thrill of Battle for WAR.
Anticipation wasn't that great in the grand scheme of things.
Awareness was nice but also only exceedingly useful in a handful of situations.
Both were okay-ish for large pulls in dungeons, but I think SE wanted to give healers some more work to do, since historically they haven't healed much at all. If this means being 20 seconds or so without a cooldown available, so be it. -

We have our tank trait now that decreases damage taken by 20% on default, without suffering decreased damage dealt.
In conclusion tanks are dealing more damage while receiving "the same damage" like in former tank stance, so they had to get rid of a few CDs (and buttons in general) to compensate.
Anticipation was flatout bad, granting 20s barely ~6% damage mitigation on physical attacks only every 60s - that's 2% mitigation if used on CD without downtime (still physical only). Rampart, on the other hand, has 20% for 20s/90s, 4.44% mitigation on average on ALL damage types.
Not sure how I feel about Awareness tho... it negated crits, thus guaranteed Blocks through Shelltron or parries. I wonder what happens in duties that "required" Awareness, such as Halicarnassus' "Critical Hit" from Deltascape V3S or adds (Execrated Will) in ZurvanEX that always crits... -

Didn't protect also get removed without compensating for the lost armor?
i feel like thats the biggest nerf to mitigation overall thats making healers and tanks sweat -

they've had periods of "everything is on CD" before, in prior expansions, depending on what we're talking about, but this feels the worst yet.
I loved anticipation, just because it was on such a short CD, and such a long duration.
I'd love to have something equally as weak, but constantly up. (more like, 2 abilities, you alternate between at all times)
Something like a 5% healed convalescence mixed with a 25% chance to parry.
Then a 10% convalescence mixed with a 15% chance to parry. (they cant stack, but dont share a CD)
and just alternate between the 2.
And of course have your potent "Tank buster incoming" mitigations. Either ready for every TB, like the 30s ones, or on longer CDs, where you alternate between them. (doesnt matter which, but u can do both, if u set different ones as playstyles for different tanks)
but yeah, the current tanking options just dont do it for me. -

By coincidence, the first dungeon I ran as the new style Paladin was also Brayflox's Longstop, just yesterday. I didn't feel much of a loss with Convalescence, Anticipation, and Awareness gone. I was never really convinced of their usefulness in the first place, and it just seemed like more busywork to deal with and also gave another reason to the Healer to yell at you when you didn't use them. No big loss to me. If the Healer couldn't keep up in a couple places, I just popped a Mega-Potion and that lasted just long enough for him to catch up.
