OK, this is seriously one of my biggest issues with the game, and it is a big issue. I don't want them to take out the best thing in the game and make it instanced(this)
I think before they go all out on these instances, they should ask the people!

I liked the idea of open public dungeons and I do not want them to be removed.
It hey should make it one big instance like Demons Souls.
Well yoshi said he was going to make all dungeons instanced I do have a petition for it. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...nced-dungeons.
Some more huge open world dungeons, building and improving on what Shposhae offered, would definitely be nice.
No ticking time limits, no party size requirents. They could be highly recommended for groups but also possible for soloers to survive if they're willing to go veeerry slowly and cautiously.
I think there's room for instanced dungeons AND open-world ones in FFXIV, and pros and cons to both, but they definitely shouldn't make ONLY instanced dungeons.
Maybe because they're redesigning the maps, they're holding off on open-world stuff until 2.0 and beyond? I can see why it'd be easier to implement instances now instead of open world dungeons that wouldn't exactly fit before or after the open world maps are redesigned.
I agree, I do like my fair share of instanced stuff but not over the top.
Yeah, Shposhae was so popular as an outdoor dungeon.
I don't happen to pay attention to usernames for the most part. I didn't this time. Maybe you could stop making posts and topics that are dumb?
I would love for some open world dungeons. I feel the SH's are pretty much that but could really be expanded on(im sure in 2.0 they will be). As far as the best loot in game goes I prefer it to come from instanced primal or dungeons as it has been. Im not so much in favor of the zerg fest that would b used to acquire loot in an open world area.
There's room in this game for both.
I think SE has their plans in place and suspect they wont make everything instanced. Seems to me they are set on this and I'm OK with it.
That would be mostly impossible for him to do... I normally see a thread and then look over to see who made it. If the name says Rokien it is normally best to skip or you can go in and wait because it will mostly turn into a flame warz... lol
Sorry Rokien its nothing actually against you it happens with anyone that push for something one way or the other... You don't want all instanced stuff... but some don't want all open world stuff... and since you humans can never totally see eye to eye or really compromise with each other this will always come to pass...
The cat is bemused =-.-=
This is my gripe with open world. They become zerg fests because it's hard to control who comes in, in what numbers, and at what level. Meanwhile, everything that can be done in the open world can be reproduced in an instanced fashion, where the experience can be a little more closely controlled so that it doesn't become a stupid skill-less loot grab.
I've seen post in the forums for people organizing 30+ people to go for gold coffers, which I'm fine with if that's how people wanna do it. Good luck deciding who gets the keys. But if there was any loot worth a damn in there I'd be kinda annoyed that it could be obtained this method. Instances are balanced so that the people who are able to beat it and get all the loot earned it the intended way(as long as its not bugged)
I am 100% in agreement. The game needs less instanced dungeons, and more open-world dungeons.
EDIT:
I'm still for instanced dungeons, don't get me wrong...I just don't always like the cookie-cutter layout of "RUN TO BOSS 1, RUN TO BOSS 2, WIN!"
Sometimes, as a player who actually likes to explore a virtual world, I want to see the sights of Eorzea. I loved running around Shposhae as a level 50. Sure, there wasn't a single thing in there I actually used, aside from the Lone Coeurl's sexy eye patch...I still liked exploring an area that had some life to it.
Since they will become instance, how about NOT add a time limit and place a player cap so that only X amount of players can be in the dungeon at once. This can be a middle ground for people in favor and opposed to the idea. For example, the player cap in a dungeon can be set to 20; a party of 6 can enter, another party of 8 can enter afterward, and maybe 6 solo adventurers who want to go into the cave can also go in and be in the same cave all at once with the other two parties. This is just an example, of course.
I like the open world dungeons because I can explore them and take my time doing things like farming, grinding, etc. The instance dungeons are cool and all, but I hate that the are on a time limit.....I just never like being timed in games so maybe it's just me, lol. I know SE are taking ideas players like the most and implementing them into XIV, but I really feel that rather than take the idea that most players are leaning towards, SE should try to come up with a way to please the smaller fanbase, too and throw in things they would appreciate - like open world dungeons. A lot of people complained of the changes since 1.18, but many have grown to accept the changes and actually enjoy them in the long run.
Here is a crazy idea:
If SE are inclined to get rid of open world dungeons due to rare treasures/drops and add and the addition of epic boss fights then would it be possible to talk to an NPC in front of the open world dungeons and enter the instance version of the dungeon? Open world version can have a few different paths, some rooms closed off, toned down enemies, etc.
whats natalan/zaharak/ugamaro/nanawa/copperbell/cassiopeia/shposhea/muntuy/tamtam? those arnt instances.
darkhold/cutter/aurum/totorak are instances.
9 vs 4
whats all the commotion for?
I actually really enjoy instanced content. I'd just like the world itself to be populated with more interesting stuff though.
More Open World content yes please!
I vote yes for Open World content.
Dynamis was not instanced...but whatever. I'd be fine if they added stuff like those, as they were "artificially difficult" due to terrible drop rates.
I still want open-world dungeons to explore though. I don't want them to full of the PHATEST LEWTZ...hell, they don't even have to have good items in them at all. I just want to explore something other than a boring field zone like La Noscea. I want to take in the sights of Eorzea without having them behind a door guarded by 20 level 50+ mobs, or an arbitrary group requirement.
How many times did this actually happen in FFXI while exploring Promyvion, or Riverne, or King Ranperre's, or practically any dangerous outdoor zone?
Then compare that to how many times groups had to pack up and go home because they had competition in a zone and they couldn't get the mobs/content that they came to do.
And fyi, dying in a dungeon returns you to the beginning of the dungeon, so you can go back to exploring right away.
It's happened to me a lot >.>; idk what you are talking about.
0 groups that I have been in.... 0
An empty world is soo fun to explore -.-
I'd prefer a mix.
Have the dungeons open for random exploration, but allow them to be instanced by parties, adding bosses traps and the like.
I agree, the game needs more open dungeons than instanced raids.
This was also my comment in the last question of the poll.
The point of an MMO is to play on an open world and explore it.
If there are some instances, it is ok, but I dont want to see the focus in there.
Nah, the point of an MMO is to team up with people to get gear to be able to get gear to be able to get gear to be able to get gear to be able to...
MMO worlds are full of those "oh, neat" moments but no one buys an MMO saying "Gee wiz, can't wait to spend the next five years of my life aimlessly wandering a digital landscape."
Here are the top three reasons people buy MMOs:
1) Brand recognition
2) PVP
3) Depression
Exploration in an MMO world gets old fast. It doesn't take long for "Oh, neat" to turn into "Oh, that again."
Id rather a smaller open world that's alive than the dead one we have now.
My favorite moments in XI were seeing the dragon dive into the lake near Tavnazia Safehold. The crickets in the highlands. The rainbow in La Thiene.
Those are the things that leave a lasting impression.
I agree. Personally I don't really care for instances, but if they must put them in I would like them to have at least some open dungeons. Especially areas where you fight relatively difficult NM's for quests that only require a few people (3-6), as well as areas you can group exp in.
And for the FFXI people, when I say dungeon I'm thinking of places like Crawler's Nest, , Mines, Quick Sand Caves, King Ramperre's Tomb, etc. Places that are connected to other areas through tunnels that have roaming NM's with decent items, plenty of mobs, and that's used as a quest destination. I don't see much of that in XIV, but I hope it's in the future.
