Who's feeling the gamber and wana bet they will introduce a new healer down the road on the the big patch ?
They stated it won't happen till 6.0 if at all.
I'll give you 10,000,000 to 1 against on that.
Just stop. The soonest a new healer will be introduced is the next expansion at the earliest. Working yourself up like this just leads to disappointment OF YOUR OWN MAKING.
Chemist is still my bet on new Healer Job. It will fit into being a Garlean theme Job and can continue the story of Chemical weapons in Garlean Empire involving Garlean Chemist that wanted to develop chemicals to save lives and cure diseases rather than create chemical designed to only kill living beings.
Give it a M32 Grenade launcher and it will be perfect.
This is my preferred new healing job - I think they could use abilities like ingredients in a way similar to how Ninjutsu or dance steps currently work, where you combine different ones in different quantities to produce different effects. They could have classic FF Mix ingredient names, and it would certainly feel different than the other healers.
The biggest point against this is that in Japanese the job shares its name with a class that's already in the game - Alchemist.
Best part of new jobs is the new lore for the Job which can be used to resolve this issue such as the Lore for Chemist may go into how these people chosen to become more as Field Medics rather than stay in the lab type of people the Alchemists are.
for example... SPOILERS for Gunbreaker Lore
The Gunblade that gunbreaker use are the ORIGINAL gunblades designed to use Magical Ammo to create the explosions from the hits and other magical aspect attacks and the Garlean gunblades are considered cheap knock offs of the Gunblades being just Guns with long blades attached to them. Though that means Garlean Gunblades fight more like Lightning's Gunblade while these original Gunblades fight more like Squall's Gunblade.
Though this does give SE a open to introduce Garlean Gunblades for a different Job (hopefully DPS) and call their Gunblade something different such as "Gunedge".
The Ast SB storyline teases/talks about Geomancers. This is a possibility for the Next Healer Maybe.
I still like the idea and concept of Chemist more, since its likely we are going to Garlemald in 6.0, if not in the 2nd arc/Post Shadowbringers.
Don't kid yourselves. There likely won't be a 4th healer job, just another clone of an existing healer job watered down and given some sort of different skin. That's if they even bother trying. My bets for 6.0? A new magic DPS class -- gotta have 4 of everything now, right? and another Melee DPS that uses DRG armor because... we've "needed" one of those for like ever, right?
They need to balance the 3 healers we have now before even thinking about adding a new one.
They'll add Chemist in 5.4 as a new healer.
It'll be a Limited Job though.
It's not going to happen - GNB is the gunblade Job, be happy we got that (I mean, the starting GNB weapon is basically a Garlean gunblade anyway - it just looks like the hrothgar modified it so that the chamber no longer is connected to the barrel, which makes sense lore wise). Chemist I really only see with a name that is actually not Chemist (as it's too close to the existing Alchemist class and would be too confusing) - maybe something like Apothocerian, or maybe Medican?
As for Geomancer, they're literally CNJs in every way (they're just what CNJ is called in the Far East). So GEO is literally in the game already under a different name (same as Time Mage is just AST). I think players just need to face reality here that a number of 'traditional' FF Jobs just aren't going to show up in FFXIV, no matter how often they go on about it.
I disagree with this. Just because Conjurer is essentially Geomancer doesn't mean we can't see Geomancer; They got around the (frankly odd) limitation of saying only Conjurer can have Stone and Aero, by simply slapping a Ver- prefix on the spells for Red Mage. No reason they can't do the same, or something similar, with Geomancer. They've even already abandoned the spell set on White Mage, where many were expecting to eventually get Quake and Tornado, we instead have Glare and Dia, that leaves the spells open for Geomancer IMO.
That said, I still can only wish Geomancer be added as a magical DPS Job that branches off Conjuration... Shame they abandoned that concept after Arcanist, but it's probably for the best ultimately.
Geo does have a bit of an identity crisis in FFXIV.
The Geo's in the AST questline are more mitigation healers, while those featured in the auspice questline are more of a Conjury DPS class.
I wouldn't be opposed to a Caster DPS Geomancer with earth and water spells.
I'd prefer a new kind of Healer, like a Chemist, or Psychic.
next expansion will likely introduce a new healer and dps job, don't expect anything before then though.
Still say we need a Melee type healer. Give us a 2H Hammer (or I guess 1H and shield?), keep the robes I suppose or a more "armored" robe look for the base class.
Give us a Songstress please! Though I have a feeling SE is gonna take a loooong time to balance the healers (if at all).
Next expansion will be a new healer and new dps job
I have major concerns that they won't be able to create a new healer, just a clone of existing healers. There seems to be a distinct lack of creativity on healing methods and deficit of balancing ability.
Are there other types of heals? Of course, you can see them in other games.... but with the way things have gone, I'm not sure the team can handle a new healing variable very well...
Only idea for a gimmick for a new healer I can think of is one that converts damage into DoTs, although in all honestly I could slap that on Astrologian just so Nocturnal Sect isn't knock-off Scholar anymore.
For it's own Job though, I think it's a solid gimmick to potentially build off of, but balancing might be hard... It's Adloquium/Aspected Benefic equivalent would apply a shield that absorbs damage and inflicts a DoT based on the damage taken (simple example; The shield absorbs 100 damage, inflicts a 30s DoT, that's 10 damage/tic). Could have different levels of that, so one spell applies a short duration DoT (in which case each tic would likely be higher potency) while another inflicts a longer potency one (high amount of damage spread over a longer duration, each tic would be weaker). Could have a special Esuna type ability to just delete the DoT, effectively meaning it was just an Adlo style shield, heck even a Bane style ability to spread it onto the entire party to reduce each tic?
Really though, since it's not actually healing damage, but rather delaying it... That really fits with Astrologian IMO... Heck it's literally the exact opposite of Diurnal Sect, applying a DoT rather than a Regen... Too perfect...
It might be just wild speculation, but I strongly believe that them moving WHM away from aspected spells with Glare and Dia is basically groundwork for a GEO healer in the future, and it would use water aspected to heal and other aspected spells to dps.
Funnily enough
despite the claim in the GNB quests (and by Yoshi-P himself in an interview IIRC) that Garlean gunblades are just guns with blades attached, the game itself doesn't really do much to actually support that assertion.
Garlean Gunblade users in-game have a rather unique fighting style made up of lots of dashing in and out of melee, summoning X shaped magitek projectiles around the arena, and spreading copious amounts of ceruleum fueled fire everywhere.
The Garlean gunblade user you fight in the Gunbreaker 70 quest (using the heavier 2 handed gunblade style) is a decent example of the Imperial style in action, and it looks like it has potential to be a very interesting DPS job with a bit of fleshing out. Good opportunity to give those melee DPS that want a heavy two handed sword job what they want too.
GEO as a melee hammer healer who "creates" terrain that buffs or alters their heals as they stand in it would be legit, ngl. If it's repurposed CNJ though hard pass.
I can see Geomancer happening with a strong elemental theme.
Removing Stone, Aero and moving WHM fully into "light" magic is quite fishy.
They need to fix the healers they screwed up first
I have absolutely no faith in getting a new healer or them balancing healers in a meaningful way.
If I get surprised, well yay, but at this moment their excuses and changes to healers have only been disappointing to me.
Although I am disenchanted, others may not be, so it really doesn't matter anyway.
This is a rather Yes and No answer due to what the Lore introduced about the differences in the REAL Gunblades and the garlean Gunblades.
As the lore states...
the Garlean Gunblades are just copies of the real gunblades made more as Guns with extended Blades attached to them. Their appearance is expect to look close to real Gunblades but modified to have working gun barrels.
It is a rather interest Lore because it establish the Gunblade used by Gunbreakers and the Gunblades used by Garleans as separate weapons where Gunbreaker Gunblades are more designed purely for melee combat due to focusing more on using the Magic Ammos to create their melee explosions but Garlean Gunblades are designed to use their Ammo for range combat and to fire during close range combat if they can get a clear shot.
We can basically separate them lore wise as Squall's Gunblade being Gunbreaker's Gunblade and Lightning's Gunblade being the Garlean Gunblades.
I am rather facinated with what this lore can be used to add into the Garlean Gunblade's lore with development and differences between the two weapons in combat use.
I think maybe...
Radovan is letting his bias influence him.
We fight against and alongside several Garlean gunblade users in game, and they basically never just use it as a gun with a sword attached. Gaius, Regula, Vitus quo Messalla in the 70 job quest, none of them employ a style like a Gunbreaker, but neither is it quite so simplistic as Radovan implies.

Describing what he's holding there as a primarily a gun with an extended blade just feels entirely wrong. I'm pretty sure I remember him using it to summon a magic tiger or something at one point too.
I mean look at him, who doesn't want that as a heavy melee DPS job? With that awesome looking Imperial armor as the artifact set. I wanna learn Regula style sword fighting.
But this is a healer thread, maybe not the place for it lol.
Next Limited Job will be a healer. Look forward to it.
Never going to happen.
ROG/NIN was introduced during a large patch in the middle of ARR and they said never again.
