they're so tiny! why?
*looks over self*
Pistol-saber. Bladed revolver. These are the direct translations of others' words for the gunblade. On the whole, the (unprefixed) messer-sized weapon seems quite reasonable (and, kind of traditionally appropriate, too) for the job they're performing. At that thickness and a one-handed grip, one can't go much longer without making the blade unwieldy.
Because it got 3 upvotes, relative to 275 finding your comment irrelevant or spurious at best on the first page alone?

Turned out weapons are indeed small all along.
don't like how small they are. rdm weapons are bigger than them. i would like it if they where bigger. It just fells weird how small they are.

Gaius used a gunblade. It was as tall as him.
Meh...I like them, plus I don't feel like I have to compensate for something. :D
Some of them are bigger than others, but I don't necessarily mind the sizes of various gunblades. The lvl 80 artifact weapon is imo just right. And it looks nice and fancy to boot.
Because gunblades as a whole are rather unreasonable weapons to begin with.
I mean, rapiers are supposed to be long

Huh? All weapons need to be aimed at an opponent, or do you think the gun shoots projectiles still?
No he didnt, even yoshida said as much. Gaius's weapon shoots bullets, and is a gun 1st, sword second.
GNB is sword 1st, not gun at all. There is no 2nd.
on a side note, PLD swords tend to be bigger most of the time, but it took awhile to get there, so gunbreaker might just need to wait a bit, before the crazy weapon sizes show up. (maybe, PLD still gets some tiny short swords every so often (which is fine) so who knows)
Thats how I felt. Sometimes cant tell if im looking at a GNB weapon or MCH weapon, and the ones you can tell, have the larger blade to handle ratio.
And yet they seem to be shorter than most PLD swords lol. (I hate how so many of them, the RDM holds them at the bottom of the handle, rather than closer to the guard. Its weird as heck)
I haven't been able to find any images of it on a pc online yet, but the Dwarven Mythril Manatrigger is actually pretty dang huge compared to all the other gun blades. Looks a bit more like an ax since the blade looks to be just at the tip, but it looks pretty dang substantial.
*Insert obligatory 'its not the size of your gun that matters, but how you use it'*
Beyond that, Im sure there will be bigger weapon models. Keep in mind it cant be so large that wielding it one handed all the time would look semi rediculous. Nor can it be so big it can be mistaken for a DRK weapon. If I had to hazard, its medium sized.
That and since I like swinging big things around, I tend to just be DRK, LIKE REAL TANKS!
:>
I can only imagine how small they look on a lalafel... lol like little toothpicks.
(1) The weapon in question is a sword
(2) which direction do you swing? not just direction, but timing is part of a different type of "direction" in this regard (in a 3d space, rather than 2d plane) this is all part of aiming. There's more than one way in which you "aim" which is why i followed up with "or did u think it still shoots projectiles?"
Agree.. they are very tiny... Squall has a bigger one xD
Where do you get that 275 from? The number of views the thread had at that point? A huge majority of the people doesn't interact at all but just read. Other come back, looking for new posts since their last visit and also increase that tnumber. So there's not too much logic within your statement. Just because you yourself don't agree doesn't make it irrelevant and you don't need to speak up for others.
I agree with op, they should be bigger and also I'd much prefer them as two-handed weapons.
To be fair, they are used both 1 handed and 2 handed, the weight of the firing mechanism must also be taken into account. I know it's a fantasy game but that doesn't mean a small bit of realism isn't allowed.
Which you don't have to consciously think about with a sword swing. Any swing at the target with enough force will be lethal without any need to account for timing or direction, unlike firearms. If you don't aim a firearm, the lethality is greatly diminished in comparison to an edged weapon.
Swings Gunblade at target, pulls trigger at wrong time. Looks at party and sees a dead healer. I can see myself doing this.
Any swing
Even the ones in the opposite direction?
at the target
So directed at the target? which is the definition of aiming.
will be lethal without any need to account for timing or direction
If "direction" is a pre-requisite, how is it just as uneeded in the very next sentence?
Also, timing matters in both cases.
The argument isnt if timing and direction arent needed, but which ones requires greater amounts in this example.
But this example wasnt the original point either.
The original point was two fold.
(1) Why is "Aiming" being brought up? Is it because you assumed they are projectile/ranged based weapons?
(2) If you assumed gunblades are for shooting projectiles, you are incorrect, and therefor the argument of "they need to be small, for aiming a projectile" wasn't a counter to size arguments. And i you didnt think it was a ranged weapon, but knew it was a melee weapon, then "aiming" is just as needed as any other melee weapon (which the gunblade is a melee weapon)
I can only assume you're suggesting its not a melee weapon, because you're not understanding im only comparing melee weapons to melee weapons, and or clarifying they are not ranged weapons.
Technically not how the weapon works. You enhance your weapon with the cartridge aether. You dont shoot bullets at anyone.
for me its same size, you have a big zoom in picture too. And in final fantasy 8 the gunblade was not as big as dissidia game, also its 1 handed sword, biguer than that will be another 2h DRK weapon.
im very sure gunblade of squall supose to be smaler and lighter than clouds weapon, even so squall use his shoulder to balance the weight of weapon. Squall moves are also faster than clouds moves cause of this diference. You can see it too in ff14, GNB moves are faster than DRK.
No, do not make the weapon bigger. I love the smaller size.
Adjust size for hrothgar and roes they look extra small on them
Yes, even if you swing a sword in the opposite direction, you'll still bisect the person in front of you. It doesn't matter up-down / down-up left-right / right-left when you make the cut. The arc of a sword is very generous when it comes to making contant. You'd have to go out of your way to thrust or make itty bitty swings to miss.
PLD weapons its 1 handed too. Are diferrent swords, but still 1 handed.
most of attacks of gunblade it use like 1 handed, the movements are fast, it doesnt heavy like DRK. If squall its 2 handed, its have less weight than clouds or DRK
Also squall may use 2 hands for some blows but not everytime like a heavier weapon.
I feel bad for whoever ordered the collection and got that sad tiny ass squall miniature
why its always about sizes...
If they made it optional sure, I personally like the current size. As in added weapons they were larger.
I was one of these up votes, as all of Squalls gunblade are around 3/4 of his height (or more) while these ones seem way too short. They seem to be going by FF13 gunblade sizes, but a few of Lightning's gunblades were still pretty large (like Omega Weapon).
Lightning mostly uses her Gunblade 1h, whereas Squall mostly uses his 2h, so that'd probably explain the size differences.
That being said Seifer (and Laguna) uses his 1h, and it's just as big as Squalls! So me thinks it should be fine to have FF8 sized gunblades.
May be just me, but from I saw from the Collector's edition Revolver (Squall's Gunblade) on the Viera, it seemed...well..rather small compared to most of the other races, like midlanders and cat girls for example.
It just looks so out of place to me. <_<
