Request for immediate REVERSAL of HLR lv1-70 changes NOW (not in 2 years)

Dear YoshiP & SE in general,


in Heavensward, you destroyed the BRD job. You did not admit to any mistake, and you fixed your grave error 2 years later.


In Stormblood, you did the same with the MCH job and failed to fix is multiple times. It took you another 2 years to fix it properly.


You got through with this because it was only one job suffered. This time, you have angered most healers, independent of their jobs (though SCHs and ASTs suffer the most).



You listened to a vocal, but small group of players and made no serious effort to even count forum postings in favour or against such a change.


There is only one sensible fix:



- UNDO all changes to healer jobs & classes for lv 1-70, maybe with the exception of Protect, which nobody will miss.
- Respect the playstyle of most FFXIV healers who want a _rich_ and _engaging_ job that combines healing and DPSing
- Admit your mistakes and apologise to the players now, not in 2 years.


Even though FFXIV may be one (the?) financially most successful MMO on the market, ignorance of customers' wishes can cause FFXIV to have its very own "BFA" expansion effect.

Sorry friend, that's an fairly unrealistic view to have.

At this point, I expect Scholar to get some analogue to Energy Drain (at least the MP management component), and for AST to maybe get some potency adjustments. They're not going to undo pet system changes or do much (if anything) to the new card system right after putting it into place - the most anyone could hope for would be a WAR-4.2-style redo later in the expansion.

As someone who has played SCH since 2.0 launch, I like it, I just want to heal. :P

I dont feel its realistic to roll back all the changes, especially the cards.
Sure would like to get my DPS spells and such back though, but I highly doubt they will.

Here's the thing, everything I've read about the changes seems terrible. The reaction to them has been generally negative. I'm not going to defend the changes at all. It feels like at every point they chose the simplest, most boring option, and the changes in general seem bizarre, boneheaded, contradictory, and idiotic.

That being said...

Knee jerk requests to reverse everything now are hurting the cause. We need to provide feedback as best we can, and try to get them pointed in the right direction over the next year or two of patches.

I can't say I trust SE to actually notice or properly do anything about it. They were apparently shocked by the fact that people were expecting a new healer, and the changes here show that they're probably pretty out of tune with the players. But we need to be reasonable and provide the best feedback possible regardless. It's all we can do...

It was super weird logging on my scholar, lol. I have one bar of skills that was dedicated to dps/aoe/aetherflow, one bar of heals/support skills, and a third of "clickable" skills that don't need hotkeys, mostly role action stuff and fairy summons and whatnot.

Well, it's pretty hilarious how empty my dps/"clickable" bars are now, lol. I can easily combine them into one row of skills.

I don't want to get super gloom-and-doom, but my favorite thing about scholar was the complexity. The options. It felt fast paced and action-oriented. I just ran some roulettes (all double dancer parties of course!) and the change is noticeable. Again I get 100% that scholar is viable, it's strong, it's fine on paper. But those amazing options are just gone. All I did the whole run was dot up mobs on pulls, one-by-one, Sastasha-style, and do a few Art of War spams (not a fan of how this skill looks or feels btw... I miss Miasma II) and otherwise it was just Broil spam 24/7 with the occasional Lustrate or Adlo on the tank. I get if potencies needed to be dropped way down or even if the damage component of Energy Drain needed to be removed entirely, but dang, I miss ED and Bane so much, but ED especially.

edit: And actually the #1 thing I HATE about the SCH changes is that I can no longer activate fairy skills mid-cast of something else. Ugh, like everything else about the SCH changes, it just makes things feel slooooowww and clunky AF to use. =/

This exactly if we plan to get anything progressive from the state of the healers we need to be constructive, praise what is good about the changes and what could be improved and go from there.

Said no actual AST ever. Good ASTs knew which card worked for which situation and could use all cards to their best ability. Noob and Bad ASTs fished for the balance. In fact, the change lorewise makes us evil ASTs as in the lore it states that evil and bad ASTs sought to use only the balance. Funny how that works.

Most healers are mad about these changes, especially SCH and SCHs. If you heal, which there is a big chance you don’t, you are in the very small minority.

Square needs to not focus on homogenizing healers, ignoring healers wants and making healers worse while doing their best to focus on tanks, even though they were at least if not more unbalanced than heals were.

So next time, don’t look the fool because your thoughts are the thoughts of a small percentage.

Initially, we clicked off undesirable Cards since they were buffs on our bar. SE noticed and gave us Undraw, performing the same task. actually, it didn't make any sense at first, until i just had to test it now when the servers finally got back up:

i didn't know you could have something like solar/solar
i haven't actually ran anything with it, i just went to FC and tested all the classes on a dummy

guess that's my fault for not looking in-depth

i assumed it wouldn't overwrite it, and i thought having lunar/solar would just make another solar seal... i dunno, sizzle, just, not get applied

i dunno, i still feel like it's needlessly complicated, i mean, i know it won't be hard to get in the groove of it like the original cards were, but i just think it's an odd way to handle it
i thought it was "casting solar with lunar/solar seal doesn't add another solar seal" and at that point i was like "why don't base cards have 8%" and at that point, Minor Arcana could have been removed entirely, or been something completely new

This is in response to one who deleted their post thinking AST is now better

I dunno, I Q'd up for several dungeons (Lv68, Lv60 and Lv60 Trial) as WHM today and I thought overall, the experience was a net positive better than what it was before today (though not by a whole lot).

*shrug*

But apparently because I'm not on the "bash SE" bandwagon, nobody cares about what I have to say.

Ok, so not happening. At best we can like wait until 5.1+, which may see a few actions return or see the current abilities adjusted. But, it's really unreasonable to just ask them to revert everything atm. Just changing the AST card effects back would require the devs to have to totally rework the entire job et al

Man they truly destroyed scholar, and killed the hype I had for this game.

I personally am glad to see that healers have to play their role now and not be like the healers of Failed MMO's like world of warcraft. though i agree some of the Changes are.. WTFish, the majority ive seen have been for the betterment in the long run. people have to play their roles now And that makes me VERY happy

Nothing stopped you back then from just healing and nothing will stop you in the future. But don't try to force your playstyle onto others. I've seen many people upset with the changes, as am I. This feels like the worst version of SCH that I've played. The first thing I had to do when logging in today was throw away half my hotbar because skills were removed. That's not fun, it's the exact opposite. I basically play a lesser version of the same job, but now I have a few potency increases on some spells and new animations.

I'd be okay with only healing if outgoing damage was increased
but spamming 1 + 2 every 30 seconds is not engaging at all, because there's not enough damage going out to have to do any real healing

If they really wanted to go the wow route they should've gone all in, not halfway. this makes nobody happy

I just want Time Dilation and SB Celestial Opposition back... I can deal with everything else
