The idea of this is making me cringe so much.
Here's hoping it's The Office except it's Ironworks.
Ohh... uh ok. They are behind the tv show of The Witcher. Eugh. But then they are behind The Expanse, too? Ok... but that show is good. I'm so confused. I guess we shall see...
Upon reading the full thing, seems they plan the main character to be Cid Garlond, which I am 100% not here for as I can't stand him.
I get the desire for a TV show...but live action?
Interest immediately lost.
hmm this could be interesting, not sure if it's set in the current era of ff14, could be difficult to do if that's the case, but doing a series set in the distant past in one of the previous eras has the potential to be good, we'll have to wait to see how this shapes up, there's still a good chance this never makes it to air.
They could have done an anime series but oke.
Why live action...
Live action never ends well for video games
Keanu Reeves as derplander?
I'd rather have an Anime series instead. Live-action is well..... not ideal.

anime series wouldn't do well, Have you ever heard of an anime series being the biggest thing on tv? live action has the potential to attract more viewers.
Honestly... I would have liked to have seen a series that told the story of 1.0 up to the current. I mean, I get that we know that story, but it would still be cool to see it play out live and for those not into gaming or ffxiv specifically, it would be a way for them to experience the stories we have over the past several years. Assuming this new story is well written and acted, I can imagine it being quite good though.
Thinking more on it, I really hope it falls through because the live action Japanese show only worked because it was a family drama about playing FFXIV. It wasn't the actual game story/based on the game world itself... The only way that will work is with an anime series. Unless they completely tone down the magical side of the world, which would make the whole show pointless, I can't see them doing it justice.
Tom Holland as the Warrior of Darkness?
❤️ Keanu Reeves ❤️ please or else is not funny.
Go John Wick or go home.
It's only been "optioned" technically, this might not even happen. Hopefully it doesn't.
This is just Hollywood doing it's thing, seeing something popular that has a lot of revenue behind it; optioning it to see if anyone will get behind the project and so on.
I will say that; i don't see anyone realistically getting onboard with this producer/director-wise; because all someone has to do is see or hear the acronym: "MMORPG" or the sentence: "It's based off a online game"- and no one will financially back it if they know any better or even remotely know anything about the previous project based off a MMORPG, which did not make a profit based on world-wide ticket-sales, and didn't even break even for it's budget.
EDIT: From here on out i'd probably follow Fandom entertainment or Screen Junkies News, they will have likely already heard about this and will probably follow this to see if it realistically goes anywhere.
Why not animated?
I would rather have a FF TV show set in Ivalice. Have Matsuno and Alex O. Smith together again. That stuff could easily fill the void left by GoT.
A FF TV show with dialogue like in FFT: The War of the Lions and Vagrant Story.
Are you kidding me? Biggest? Maybe not. But anime is huge.
What's really going to kill it is bad CGI, bad editing, and them trying to convert all sorts of visuals/scenes that were not designed for live action to live action. Unless you can make it look actually real, then make it animated please.
Danny DeVito as a lala.
I really don't get why people are so repulsed to a live action adaptation. The technology and budget is there to handle all of the effects, creatures, and magitek faithfully. There is a much larger audience reach for live action versus anime (there are a sizable number of people who just won't watch anime, no matter how good it is). Video games by and large—including Final Fantasy—have moved towards more and more realism, so the marriage is there. Lastly, to see places like Gridania becoming fully realized in live action would be breathtaking (and just simply meh present in anime).
So, personally, I'm excited by the prospect of live action. Very excited.
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Dwayne Douglas Johnson as Roegadyn ❤ _ ❤
Keanu Reeves as derp lander
Liv Tailor as Minfilia.
Only one can make Cid look Cid that is Bruce Willis. ❤ _ ❤
Only one lady can make Viera look Viera that is Beyonce.
Cant even imagine my favourite actors representing FFXIV characters! ❀ヅ❤♫
Live action from FFXIV no thanks... the result could be "Impossible to Gauge".
I'm not sure how I feel about this.
Uh, no? Are you still watching super hero movies from the early 2000s or something? Marvel CGI is the furthest thing from unconvincing: it is really, really good. I don't know how you can look at something like, Rocket Racoon, and say, "That really doesn't look like a talking racoon to me." I mean, if you want to stay within the genre (epic fantasy), Game of Thrones always looked stunning on a TV budget. Same goes for Chronicles of Shannara (and that on a considerably lesser budget).
I don't know man. We must be looking at two different things.
One look. ONE LOOK...at The Avengers. I'll admit that Marvel movies are fun to watch, but I would be lying if I said I thought they look good. They don't. They look like they're trying to be real and failed miserably at it. It would be better to just not try to be realistic in the first place.
"Live Action"
Why?
Just, Why?
Peter Dinklage as Papalymo rumored?
It makes me cringe with live action...not my thing at all, FF should stay as CG it just does not work well. I mean I guess Richard Branson could be Cid >.>
I hope it does not happen lol
