Aether Data Center 100% Congested

Whoa to those trying to get friends on Aether now. One has to wonder if they'll add additional servers soon.

Doubt it. The buzz'll die off after the first couple weeks and server numbers will be more consistant.

I agree that the hype will fall off but I think it will likely take at least a month as the first raid doesn't release till 2 weeks in.

Probably not. They are going to want players to populate the other NA data enters, so it’s doubtful they would add more worlds to aether so more people could pack onto one dc.

I’m glad I moved from Aether to Crystal now. Been enjoying my new server too.

Good. Not only does it mean that the game is getting a lot more attention it also means that the other server clusters will fill up too.

Same. Just came back from Excal to Goblin and I'm happy I was able to get a house with little issue and have a smaller pop world to log into for the MSQ.

Please do! I've been on Crystal before the split through Zalera but I want more friends since I came back.

I kinda wonder if they were manually set to congested to get people to move/make new characters on crystal

Ugh a reason I moved away from balmung was to avoid congestion. Definitely wanna transfer but I guess I’ll wait to see how bad it gets before I make a decision :c

Adamantoise on Aether has been pretty nice for me, lower pop world, got a nice little house without too much of an issue. Max Q I got yesterday on rush hour was 30 and I got in super quick, not too worried about the xpac tbh.

Yeah, the congestion kind of followed Aether, because (1) People fear that RP will take over Crystal (2) That RPers can't raid-- for some reason???? (3) Then these false rumors spread to the new people coming in who are being misinformed.

I am sure there are other reasons, but that is the biggest ones I've heard.

Anyone who can't create on Aether is more than welcome here at Crystal, specifically Diabolos...we have cookies. And FCs full of lunatics.

Also there is a general opinion Balmung and Mateus are the sin of the original Aether and having them be sent to Crystal was a blessing due to congestion/rp focus. Which I think is totally bull as I've seen many people from Balmung be top in PVP and raiding as a whole. So that claim holds no weight imo it's just blameshifting for the sake of something to complain over.

It's also funny because while I'm not on Aether anymore I generally hear people are trying to treat Faerie like the new Balmung as being the more rp focused server for Aether.

I hope to see more new people joining Crystal. Please don't remain under the false impression that its nothing but RP. It has people focused on all sorts of content and has lots of enjoyable events, meetups, etc.

Well with respect to BA I will say that clears on Crystal are a lot harder than they are on Aether. I don't raid so I can't comment on that aspect. Part of the disparity I'm sure isn't the quality of the players but the fact that the population on Crystal is a lot less than on Aether.

That's only more of the reason why raiding is so important on Crystal more so then ever. If the pool of people going through Savage/Ultimate is smaller that means those people will be dedicated, in turn causing more and more people to try stepping up the plate to get a piece of that.

It is a smaller DC because of the split and people leaving, but now with it being the main option for new players there is always room for growth. Whether it be fresh prog or vets offering advice for those still progging.

Add in we're going to be getting the most new people out of any NA DC due to preferred and we'll hopefully be able to offer good advice for new players to have confidence in doing not only casual content but higher level ones as well.

When I began playing the game shortly after Stormblood dropped, Adamantoise was a preferred world, and now it's congested. Times really do change.

I bet half of the congestion is all the bot farms making characters because there are so many pathetic people who buy gil in this game.

Early Access actually starts on Saturday for many given the queue's. Oh well we need more people to unsub i guess. ;)

People will be auto kicked after 30 minutes of afk, which will help.

I think there are quite a few bots but I see those on Balmung as well... plenty of gil sellers from Bryn. The subscription rate is supposedly the highest ever so that has to be reflected in the server numbers.

It wouldn't surprise me if they've lowered the threshold on a server becoming congested, in preparation for the launch of Shadowbringers.
The most recent LuckyBancho census (13th of June) shows the population of Crystal, Aether, and Primal at 161,839, 154,954, and 150,251 respectively (although the amount of players who have completed the 4.1 MSQ is much lower on Crystal.)
While this census is obviously unofficial, and should be taken with a grain of salt (although the results are taken directly from the lodestone), it's still an indication on possible server load for each of the datacenters at launch.

That, or there's been a massive exodus from Crystal to Aether/Primal between the 13th and the 27th, although I find that a bit less believable.

I believe they said they were going to do this. They'll put up a notification on when it's happening, kick everyone, and then everyone can queue back in and pray to rngesus

They'll give one hour warning. But yeah if a server gets too congested they straight up will kick everyone off of it to smack down the people trying to circumvent the kick.
