Prime Fights With New Jobs

So, Our LS Decided to test the new jobs on Ifrit. Needless to say, we lost time and time again. I was simply wondering if anyone has beaten any of the Primes with the new jobs, and what strategies did you use?

The first Big Problem we saw was that WAR just lacked the DD for the fight.
Another problem was that PLD has no way to recover mp. It drops way too fast.

Now I'm sure that we could beat it using more of the base classes, I Just don't think that would be as gratifying. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, Thank you :cool:

PS: I'm thinking SE wants us to use Potions more so list em if you used them :D

Why is your Paladin using so much MP? White mages my boy, that's what they are there to do.

And I don't get how WAR is lacking in DD for the fight. It has better stats than MRD and plenty of times on Ifrit I out parsed THM's.

Okay... So is there any advice?

I dont see how MP can be an issue with a bard on the team, and how a paladin can run out of MP with white mages healing. Regen is a powerful thing. I also can't see DPS being anywhere near an issue with monks and black mages in party.

That shouldn't be a question. You SHOULD beat it because everyone has better stats as the job, especially with the AF gear. As soon as my LS is done with the new dungeons, I'll get them to run Ifrit runs again. I'd love to fight it. I mean Warrior with his 15 min ability, and Dragoon with jumps, and Bards... Ifrit should be a peice of cake if everyone avoids stuff. Only thing I really don't know about it Hellfire, which can't be that bad. Keep one Black Mage as a THM to AoE Sanguine rite, and have the dd's stand with the Paladin to get rampart

Beat ifrit with me tanking as WAR, 2 WHMs, 1 DRG, and a mix of THMs and BLMs. WAR > GLA or PLD for this fight. Vengeance was really hurting him, and hate wasnt an issue ever.

the way we did it was 1 PLD 2 WHM 5 BLM's pld tank the normal way had no problem with mp specialy with WHM's and putting his sword away during the 3 jump's.

blm mages should be at a whm for stoneskin when the nails come up and then then blm's can use that ability forget what its called one for MP back for dmg. all we donew took it down in 7minish and this wasnt my LS just a pickup party.

Ha! thanks, we really didn't have much time to play with the new jobs much. We kept dying a lot. Its so hard to get any useful information with the Miquote Trollz tearing through here. I'll let my LS know and we can give it a try when we are actually having an event. :D <3

So far the biggest issue I have found is the inability for the DD to 'take care of themselves' (which used to be the defacto standard).

They are having problems healing and stoneskining themselves (or using Sentinel at the right time).

If the DDs consist of jobs that do not have /CNJ, then it may be beneficial to have someone with them who can take care of them? Perhaps a WHM or BRD in the mix.

I am still trying to figure out a new strategy that is ideally job only ^.^

Did Ifrit in 8mins with 2 blm (one not fully unlocked) 2 whm (one not fully unlocked) mnk war brd drg. Its not hard kill all the nails and Hellfire isn't a problem. Regen/stoneskin help mnk deal with seer dmg so it can pump out much more damage brd using ballad should be able to keep fist of wind on the entire fight.

Edit: Blm can put out much more damage then thm now because it can use freeze to lower enmity and has convert + bard so mp shouldn't be in issue.

I imagine as the new jobs are that much more powerful you should also easily be able to take out all the nails. a DD on each nail, if your issue is Hellfire.

I'm so glad to see all jobs are being useful here, from what everyones setups have been

What I expected. ANYWAYS, I gave my opinion on it. I didn't patronize you since I said "lol" at the end of my comment. The paladin shouldn't be running out of mana if the white mages are healing. What's so patronizing about that?

Tricks I've found to help fight NM/Primal.

1) Find people that understand their job. This is very important and lots people haven't figured out how to play their job well.

Some pointers I've found (Keep in mind that this list considers fights with multiple monsters and/or trash spawning bosses as well)

-Find a Bard that actually wants to support you. Lots bard are still in the I'm DPS mindset and do not understand what support is. Bard is the support job, he should running around... supporting. Paladin ran out of mana? Bard has mana song and sanguine rite + sacred prism, your paladin should not run out of mana; otherwise You bard isn't doing his job. Is it annoying to run around the map buffing with song and such? It can be, but it is part the bard's job is. You Bard isn't rebuffing, EVERYONE, you should correct him or replace him.

-Paladin are also great support tanks. Between Cover, Divine Veil, and Holy Succor; paladin can save the main tank's arse.

-WHM mages need to be using regen and stoneskin. Regen is a godsent for healing. Non-tan takes damage, throw a regen of them and they should be fine. WHM takes damage, regen and he should be fine. Regen really help mana endurance for any NM fight.

-WHM cannot forget to rebuff protect... on everyone. I know, as a healer myself, fights can be crazy. Stil cannot forget to rebuff the group and not just the tank.

-MRD has awesome threat generation. You might want to consider letting the MRD tank. More threat generation means the other classes can unload more damage. More damage means the fight goes faster.

-Stuns, lots of classes/jobs have them, use them! Interrupting enemy spells/WS is vital is some fights. If the BLM alone uses a un-combo Thundra, he can save the tank from taking big damage.

-Crowd control, lots of classes/jobs have them, use them! Lots of player get too focused on doing damage and forget they have of these abilities. BLM are known for this in particular. A well timed blizzara can save a WHM, that pulled threat, just as well a tank can.

2) Communication. This is a huge party killer. If you need a rebuff, say something. Healer has threat, say something. Paladin ran out of mana, say something. Go in with a plan and discuss what could of been better after the fight. Call out when you do important actions, like raise.

3) Don't get butt hurt. Everyone makes mistakes and need a correction. You will wipe and you might of been the reason. Learn from it and try again.

PLD only efficient if BRD around for ifrit. My yesterday runs shows Gla is better tank for ifrit because more hp pool and cross class skills. if only PLD had better elemental defense, maybe it will be different story

O'Doyle Warrior rules.

Playing around last couple of days, found these setups:

Ifrit: WAR, WAR, WAR, BLM, BLM, WHM, WHM, BRD. Lots of fun. Pure lolz.

Moggle: WAR, DRG, DRG, MNK, BLM, WHM, WHM, BRD. Easy fight - BRD was played as support role, WAR had HP build (5,593HP total) and as much as I hate to admit it MNK won the parse. Turned out really good.

Are you serious you guys must be horrible.
1- PLD should only keep hate, and not use cure unless hate is needed.
2- BRD should be beside DoMs singing, and if possible, another BRD beside DoWs singing too, and dealing mad dmg with Final WS. The WoM BRD should be comboing the eff out of Ifrit.
2- 2 WHMs just for safety.
3- 2 BLMs for fun.
4- 1 close quarters hurter.(lol)

This recipe is guaranteed for hell of a damage.

ridiculous reason, since the final ws is insanely strong. Also, A brd has support, not a requirement, the TP song is efficient because archer can combo everything within 1000 tp. I'd say BRD became alot more DD but with a better arsenal for party dynamics.

I did it with my LS on all the new jobs. We died a few times. Won a bunch of times, swapped things around and won more.

I myself had to relearn to not start casting right after he dashes and wait for him to use an ability so I could either a) run away from the cracks or b) cure and buff. We had a pretty nukehappy blm* so cracks were on the mages more than I was used to but it was fine once we remembered the fight. We did bring down all the nails and if we were buffed then hellfire was not too much of a problem. Buff-hellfire-benediction seemed a fine choice. Raise anyone who died and finish him off.

Went with a different party later and just wiped on hellfire and I went to bed.

Lol if you are going to use Bards for dmg they are better off going Archer.

A better set up

War, 3xblm, 2xwhm, mnk, and brd/blm

Anyone tried using Mega-potion of Vitality on jobs without Sentinel to see if that helps reduce damage?
Vitality+14% (Max:40)
Defense+18% (Max:125)

Mega Potion of Intelligence is also nice for BLM's
Intelligence+14% (Max:40)
Attack Magic Potency+16% (Max:80)

Vitality potion probably won't help since its just a boost to def and not a straight out dmg reduction like sent/Sang.

I will not disagree the WS is strong, but bard songs and support increase the whole teams damage, which is more than damage the bard throwing a few extra WS.

I've tried the potions and they will give you a noticeable increase, but currently the MW prices for them is still unreasonably high to use them on a regular basis. (at least on my server)
